Hey, I remember this thread!

It isn't a new Dwarf Fortress version until we're made to fear some kind of regular creature.  Carp, Elephants, Unicorns, Badgers, and now Mosquitos.  I've got 5 dorfBucks on the next one being plagues of groundhogs.

Have you ever stopped to think of what a Bronze colossus might look like?

While browsing the subject of Kaiju (giant monster movies in Japan, including Godzilla), I came across this page on Daimajin. And I thought this would be a pretty good approximation of what a Bronze colossus might look like (minus the sword), particularly after it has been killed and mounted as a statue:

I'm pretty sure there are some serious bugs in the throwing code.

The results that come out of that thing are far more random and bizarre than any other part of the combat system currently - even more so than the laser whips.

Once in a while I've just seen guys pretty much explode by throwing a rock at them - even a direct hit with a maul doesn't cause that kind of damage. <shrug>

I hate you with pure burning seething anger and loathing for your awesome kill sir.

25+ strikes to the neck with a steel battle axe have not accomplished your feat from a legendary +3 axedwarf.

I take a peasant (insane strength) and make him a legendary thrower (practice makes perfect!) and find some rocks.
also sneak around a lot, legendary ambusher.

no-one knows where I am.
BOOM headshot.

But, but... random and bizarre is !!fun!!, especially when it comes to Dwarf Fortress combat.
And, from what I've read, there are more than a few old-time players who pine for the combat mechanics of earlier versions where one could pummel goblins and other enemies so they fly several screens away.

Here's what I always imagined the Bronze Colossus to look like:

Fluffy wamblers aren't bunnies, they're small humanoids.

Actually, they're basically Gizmo, except made entirely of pudge and fluff, with no internal organs or bones at all.
