This grand room welcomes you to the passage through Rakshama. Three pillars stand tall on either side, ornately carved from stone. Some footsteps through the dust lead to the doorway on the other side, but they too are covered in more dust, so it seems no one has attempted to enter in some time.
-
I jog 6 squares down.
-
"So... This is it huh? Such a strange place."
Helena shivered, gripping her bow tightly in her right hand. It was only through sheer force of will she didn't already have an arrow knocked. She took a few hesitant steps forward with no intention of getting far away from the group. When in a foreign environment, splitting up would the definition of what you would call a 'bad idea'. Her eyes followed the dusty footprints from a distance. If only that she had listened more to her father about tracking. But if those footsteps managed to get that far, than at least she could hope that there would be no traps awaiting them. At least... Not in the entrance hallway... Right?
She immediately begins to investigate her surroundings; looking for traps, idle forgotten baubles from adventurers that had passed through, and just generally trying to get a feel for the place. Stay two tiles behind Alphonse. Just in case.
-
walk 6 squares down. Peek around the corner, try not to get seen myself
-
Hordor looks around boredly. He shrugs to himself as he sets his pitchfork blunt end forward and starts tapping tiles with it.
Walk south six tapping on tiles with the blunt end of the pitchfork.
-
((I suppose while we're waiting, do we have a developed idea of how we want to go about this place?))
-
Not yet, currently we don't know enough about the layout, maybe after we encounter our first crossroad/monster/resting phase then we will begin formulating a plan.
-
(I'm going to presume the party has been introduced before entering)
Gilbert tightens his grip on his axe, takes a deep breath of the mostly-clean, though slightly damp air. He's not too sure about what military men would do, but he figures they should at least stay in pairs. "Malcolm, I'll stay close. If we meet anything, we can stand together against it."
Gilbert moves 6 tiles down.
-
((Aye. We've met. And... I believe with that, we've taken Turn before those ratty Paralun's. Hahaha! Success!))
-
Turn 1
Alphonse jogs 12 meters south.
Helena jogs 9 meters to be behind Alphonse, and uses her Visual Acuity skill. (3d6 = 12) She finds nothing of note.
Malcolm jogs 12 meters south, looking into the other room.
This rather large room consists merely of three tables with benches. The wood is beginning to rot, and there's a body lying on the floor, lending to the atmosphere of decay.
Hordor jogs 12 meters south in front of Alphonse. His tapping elicits no response from the tiles.
Gilbert jogs 12 meters south.

-
Malcolm upon seeing the corpse was disturbed greatly. He had never seen a dead body before, let alone kill anyone. Malcolm only accepted the bounty because he was desperate and it was either this or starvation. Of course, this was the path he chose and that there's no going back. In order to calm himself Malcolm decided to look at the practical rather than the emotional side of the situation and said:
"It seems like that body was running away from whatever was in the southern hallway. Now we have two options, we can either band-up together and attack whatever is in that hallway or we can take the western or Eastern door. I advise against splitting up and doing both since isolation seems to have been the cause of our predecesor's fate"
-
Nothing to see here.
-
The hunter's daughter shuddered. Not exactly the most auspicious start.
"I would prefer not knowing... Whatever killed that person... But we should check the body for a clue as to how he died and take whatever supplies he had. If nothing else, I can use the shirt off of his back for bandages later."
Helena moves 5 tiles south toward the corpse, giving a quick cursory check underneath the tables for any forgotten supplies first.
-
Personally I was thinking of using the planks from the tables and straps from the fabric of the victims clothing to make shields for us.
-
"That might not be a bad idea, but I'm not so certain how sturdy this wood is."
-
Alphonse runs to the corpse and calls dibs on the loot.
-
How about this proposal, we go through the western door, see what's on the other side and then make a decision about what to make. We probably won't need a shield yet although whatever is on the other side of the door might prove us wrong. But then again, we can probably make both. We'll try to make two shields and then you can have the rest of the fabric for bandages. Sounds like a plan?
Notices Alphonse
Fine take the loot, but WE'RE KEEPING THE CLOTHES!!!
-
Helena snorts at Alphonse's antics. Just a little bit.
"Giddie fellow, ain't he Malcom? He's acting like we're in a race or something..." Then she got back down to business. "Anyways. Western door. I'll be fine with that decision. One door is no different from the other. But you really may want to take a closer look at these tables first. I'll help you make a shield or two if I can, but the quality of the shield is going to be shoddy as hell. And that's assuming it doesn't take us too long to make em. I don't want to stick around here any longer than I have to."
-
Unfortunately, making shields is not feasible unless you enter resting mode, and you would need Crafting Tools: Armorsmithing.
-
Hodor follows towards the dead guy. He makes a face.
"Ew."
-
"You know what I just realized, we both have absolutely no idea how to build a shield. You do make a good point, we might end up wasting valuable resources if we try to make a shield. Bandages it is. Although don't use all the cloth, we might need it for other things.
-
((If we end up gaining a level during this dungeon, one of us can try to go for that if we take the raw materials for when we rest. Wooden armor probably isn't efficient, but we could theoretically make a breast plate out of a bit of wood too. The big thing will be the cloth. But I suppose it's just as well. Helena will be happy to bandage the meat shields if they get stabbity stab stabbed.))
-
((I will become the armoursmith))
-
You will gain more than one level during this dungeon, I assure you.
-
((High ho, high ho, let's terrorize that table. Hopefully we find ludicrous corpses for later for more delicious cloth.))
-
"Doesn't mean it's entirely not worth the effort, though I will gladly take more bandages. I can't imagine we'll be getting through this place unscathed. There's got to be a reason that people-... Well... You know."
-
Fine take the loot, but WE'RE KEEPING THE CLOTHES!!!
Without missing a step or turning around, Alphonse outstretches his arm and makes a thumbs-up gesture.
-
The main problem is if we try to make a shield by banging 2 wood planks together, we'll end up making sawdust instead and losing our planks.
-
Gilbert nearly lets out an exasperated groan, stifling it, and facepalming instead.
"We... don't need to take apart rotten wood to make a shield. We're more likely to find better on less fortunate that have gone before us. Hopefully it'll serve us better." he says, testing the softness of the table wood with his hand.
Move Gilbert to a table near enough to actually test out that wood.
-
Turn 2
Helena walks 6m south.
Alphonse runs 14m to the corpse and looks at it. A shoddy short spear is lying next to the body, which has a peasant dress, a shoes, two hardtacks, and 4d.
Hordor jogs 10m to follow Alphonse.
Gilbert jogs 10m to the table and tests the wood. It's dusty, creaky, and spongy.
Malcolm does nothing.
-
"How's the table look? Do you think we can use it?"
-
"Eh, we probably could use it, but let's save it for now. We might need the planks to bridge a gap or something like that"
Malcolm heads for the Western door and opens it
"Can one of you guys open the eastern door, I think it'll be faster this way"
-
Gilbert simply squeezes the wood until he can peel a chunk of it off, holding it up for others to see. "I would not trust this wood to weather the rain, let alone my weight. If we need wood I can go back outside and cut a tree." he replies jokingly, tossing the bit of wood away and striding up to be beside Malcolm in case of something behind the door.
"Two to a door? We should probably stay as a group past here-- I'd rather not learn this lesson the hard way."
Gilbert moves to a tile adjacent Malcolm.
-
"On it."
Helena dashes over to the other door and opens it if she's able to.
-
Loot the spear, the money, the hardtack, and the shoes. Equip the shoes. If possible, also try to determine how the woman died.
-
Hordor waits.
-
Turn 3
Malcolm runs 21m towards the southern door. (3d6 = 11) As he steps through the hallway, he fails to notice a line of raised tiles. He hears a click and a whoosh as he steps on one. (AD:7;ED:8) He jerks his head aside as the arrow whizzes by, missing him by only an inch and shattering against the stone wall.
He cannot open the door this turn.
Gilbert runs 14m to be next to Malcolm, deftly avoiding the trap just in case it has more than one arrow in it.
Helena runs 13m to the other door.
Alphonse picks up the Shoddy Short spear (HP: 70/80), but can't pick up anything else this turn and still perform a full action. He uses his Heal skill on the woman. (3d6 = 7) In his professional opinion, she most likely died of not being alive anymore.
Hordor does nothing.
-
"There's a trap there."
Hordor leans on his pitchfork boredly.
-
Helena is prepared to open the door, but stops upon hearing the telltale sound of an arrow.
"Ye gods. What's happening now? You alright over there?"
-
I choose to spend a luck point to re-roll evasion
Also, how do I list the damage on my character sheet? What do the RT and CT columns mean on my character sheet?
EDIT: figured out what RT and CT mean.
RT is removal threshold, applies to weapons with the severing property
CT is critical threshold, applies to all weapons
My head is one damage point away from leaving me instakilled
-
RT and CT mean Removal Threshold and Crippling Threshold. You enter the damage under DMG.
Spending a Luck Point gets you an evasion roll of 8.
-
"Phew, I could have been shot in the head. I guess that's how our friend over there died" points at corpse "Now let's open these doors"
Malcolm opens the door, he then gestures towards Helenna to do the same
-
Turn 4, Part 1
Malcolm opens the door, revealing a man standing in the room. As he turns to face you, you see that his eyes are bloodshot and unfocused, and the flesh is peeling off his bones. He is obviously dead, yet he still walks.
The party rolls initiative.
Turn Order: Alphonse (15), Hordor (14), Undead Skirmisher (11), Gilbert (9), Malcolm (6), Helena (3)
-
Loot the money and the hardtacks.
-
Down ten feet and stabby the abomination.
-
The Undead Skirmisher is 14m south of you.
If you'd moved closer last turn, you could have jogged to it.
-
Gilbert feels a chill and his eyes light up with surprise and fear at the sight of the undead. He raises his axe, and decides to chop something new down.
Move to the northwest tile next to the undead skirmisher, and attack.
-
Down ten feet and stabby the abomination.
The Undead Skirmisher is 14m south of you.
If you'd moved closer last turn, you could have jogged to it.
In other words, you can not run and attack the undead on the same turn, you are 1 meter too far away. What do you want to do instead?
-
Walk down six feet.
-
Turn 4, Part 2
Alphonse takes 4d and two hardtacks off the body.
Hordor walks 6m south.
The Undead Skirmisher walks 4m north and swings at Malcolm. How does he wish to defend?
-
dodge roll towards Hordor
-
Turn 4, Part 3
(AD:4;ED:8) Malcolm easily rolls away from the Skirmisher's swing, towards Hordor.
Gilbert swings his axe at the Undead. (AD:8;ED:2;13,5) The axe's blade thunks into the thing's waist, dealing 5 damage.
-
I extend my scythe and attack the undead from a distance
-
You can't move this turn, you already performed an action.
-
Oh, so my turn is over, understood.
-
Move to the left of the Undead Skirmisher and double-attack it. (Am I doing it right? You may want to turn off smileys.)
-
I have them turned off in my settings. And you won't get another round until next turn.
-
(AD:8;ED:2;13,5)
I'm guessing that AD is Attack Dice and ED is Evasion Dice? What's the "13,5"?
-
13 is the body part hit, 5 is the damage. He was actually quite lucky to hit the waist randomly, sadly though it's as strong as a regular torso. Thankfully you can aim attack it with no penalty.
-
Thanks. So I picked up the shoddy spear and I have it in my inventory. It's not equipped but do I have to include it in Weapons/Armour anyway?
-
Not if you don't plan on using it.
-
OOC: I'd say keep the spear, you have no idea when you might need the extra reach.
-
Helena shrugs. They're men. They can probably handle it. If not, the hallway is much too crowded for her to get a clean shot off. She opens the door.
-
Helena opens the door.
As soon as you enter the room, your eyes are met with a body lying on its back on the desk, its rotten face still gazing up at the ceiling. Cobwebs cover every surface. Whatever killed this man is no longer here.
Turn Order: Alphonse, Hordor, Undead Skirmisher, Gilbert, Malcolm, Helena
-
Jog to the left of the Undead Skirmisher and attack it.
-
Turn 5, Part 1
Alphonse jogs 11m to the left of the Undead Skirmisher and swings at it with his rondels. (AD:6,1;ED:8,3) The Undead displays surprisingly good reflexes, creaking as it dodges his swings.
-
Gilbert felt the axe sink in sickeningly, and shudders. He pulls his axe back, and checks to see if any of his other skills can be adapted to work here. Time to split something new in half, he figures.
Aimed strike to the head! Attack!
-
Hordor moves to the diagonal tile down from him and jabs at the zombie.
-
Turn 5, Part 2
Hordor moves 3m southwest and jabs at the Undead Skirmisher with his pitchfork. (AD:5;ED:4,10,6) He stabs it directly in the chest, dealing 6 damage. The pitchfork's prongs sink in satisfyingly.
The Undead Skirmisher swings its arming sword at Gilbert in a slow swing.
-
Gilbert dodges! It's suspenseful.
-
Turn 5, Part 3
(AD:4;ED:3;11,5,2) Despite the slowness of the attack, Gilbert fails to evade it. The Undead's arming sword cuts a chunk out of Gilbert's shirt, dealing 5 damage. Gilbert begins bleeding 2 VP/turn.
Gilbert swings his axe towards the Undead Skirmisher's head. (AD:2;ED:3) Once again, it displays surprising agility in dodging the swing.
-
Malcolm, after noticing the undead's weapon attempts to severe the arm holding it with his scythe from a distance
THAT IS NO FAIR, YOU ARE AN UNDEAD ABOMINATION!! WHY DO YOU GET A SWORD WHILE I HAVE TO FIGHT THROUGH THIS DUNGEON WITH FARMING TOOLS
-
Alphonse is slightly confused by Malcom's outburst. Wasn't he a peasant like the rest of the party?
-
Turn 5, Part 4
Malcolm swings his scythe at the Undead Skirmisher's arm. (AD:1;ED:2) He misses, clanking the scythe into the wall.
-
((WELP. HAVE NO FEAR! BANDAGE LADY IS HERE! I'll stop that bleeding!))
Hearing the ruckus in the other room, Helena was quite certain that her allies were probably doing something stupid. Not bothering to close the door, she turned and quickly dashed back over to the group when it's her turn.
-
Turn 5, Part 5
Helena runs 20m to join the rest of the party.
Turn Order: Alphonse, Hordor, Undead Skirmisher, Gilbert, Malcolm, Helena
-
When able, grab dat peasant dress and tear it into bandages to use on the bleeding Gilbert.
-
Walk behind the Undead Skirmisher and attack. (It's currently facing up, right?)
-
Walk behind the Undead Skirmisher and attack. (It's currently facing up, right?)
The Skirmisher doesn't have a facing this turn. It has to be attacked first. You can delay your attack until after Hordor attacks to make a flanking attack from behind.
-
I'll do that then.
-
Ok, in case you are watching it is now Hordor/kj1225's turn
-
Poke the zambie.
-
Turn 6, Part 1
Gilbert loses 2 VP to bleeding.
Alphonse delays until after Hordor.
Hordor attacks the Undead Skirmisher with his pitchfork. (AD:1;ED:2) He misses.
Alphonse moves 3m southeast behind the Undead Skirmisher and makes a flanking attack from the back. (AD:2;ED:2) Surprisingly, the Undead dodges the swing. (Note: A Luck Point can reroll this attack.)
The Undead Skirmisher swings its arming sword at Gilbert again.
-
Gilbert discovered recently that he did not like swords in him, and so this time he tries to block it with his axe!
Yes, block with the axe. Aim for the head, Then attack it.
-
Turn 6, Part 2
(AD:4;ED:8;5) Gilbert easily parries the Skirmisher's swing, his axe taking 5 damage from the block, and counter-attacks. (AD:5;ED:3;11,6) He hits it in the torso for 6 damage.
He follows it up with another attack. (AD:7;ED:7) The Undead Skirmisher evades his swing.
-
Hopefully I don't miss this time.....
Malcolm decides to attack the undead from a distance with his scythe again.
YOUR SWORD IS MINE!!!
-
Turn 6, Part 3
Malcolm swings his scythe at the Undead Skirmisher. (AD:3;ED:8) He misses wildly and leaves himself open for a counter-attack.
-
Helena's already queued an action. I think you're supposed to play it and move on but maybe it's best to wait to see if she confirms that's how it should be done..
When able, grab dat peasant dress and tear it into bandages to use on the bleeding Gilbert.
-
No, not until Malcolm states how he's going to respond to the Skirmisher's counter-attack.
-
Right, confused the counter-attack mechanics with another game's. I just cannot stop making mistakes, can I?
-
Perfectly alright, everyone does it. Just means you should double-check more often before you post.
-
:o .............................. >:(
Malcolm attempts to dodge the blow
-
Eh. I'd rather not shoot you guys in the back, so I'm still going to go for bandages. Think of it as preventive care. Although, someone needs to remember to grab that Bodkin Arrow for me. Because any arrow is a good arrow.
-
What bodkin arrow? ???
-
The one that broke against the wall, presumably.
-
out of curiosity, why aren't we continuing the turn?
-
Waiting for Paralun to finish Turn 6.
-
If I walk three squares diagonally, is it possible for me to pick up the stuff in that chest? Can I see what's in it from where I am now?
-
Yes -- it's empty.
-
Can you just skip whoever we're waiting on so we can play? It's been past 24 hours which is way too much time.
-
I'm afraid not.
-
Turn 6, Part 4
(AD:4;ED:6) Malcolm effortlessly dodges the counter-attack.
Helena picks up the Peasant Dress and destroys it, creating a single-use Bandage.
-
Now can I have my turn?
-
As soon as you post what you want to do, it's your turn in the turn order.
-
I jog 2 squares diagonally down-right and then 2 squares to the right. (One half action.)
-
Turn 7, Part 1
Gilbert loses 2 VP to bleeding. He is now bleeding 1 VP/turn.
Alphonse moves 2m southeast, 2m east.
Some lighter spots in the dust suggest there used to be more things in this room that were moved. Regardless, a few desks remain, and an empty lockbox. The corpse lying in the corner is likely fresher.
-
What's on the corpse?
-
A Poor Dagger (88/100), Tunic, Pants, Lockpicks (5 uses), Incense, and a ha'penny.
-
More stabbity.
-
I call dibs on the corpse's stuff and use my Investigation skill to search the room.
-
Are you searching it for something? Because otherwise that'd be Visual Acuity. And normally you would have already taken your turn, but you only took a half action, so I'd allow you to tack on a full action. This time.
Turn 7, Part 2
Hordor takes a stab at the Undead Skirmisher. (AD:8;ED:6;10,3) He hits it in the torso for 3 damage. As the pitchfork sinks into the Undead's flesh, it abruptly goes still. As he withdraws it, it collapses on the floor, finally dead.
The party gains 2 XP. Turns are now free.
-
Hordor stabs it several more times to make sure it's dead.
-
Are you searching it for something? Because otherwise that'd be Visual Acuity. And normally you would have already taken your turn, but you only took a half action, so I'd allow you to tack on a full action. This time.
They both mention checking rooms for stuff as stuff to do so I was kinda confused. I'll do that then. Will I have to spend 2 different turns to search those desks?
EDIT: EXP TNL doesn't calculate for how much experience someone already has.
-

Why would it calculate for that?

Oh, if you want to search the desks that would be Investigation, yes. But Investigation is long-term, so it would take 2 turns to do.
Because you don't spend EXP, and it's only used for getting to the next level, EXP is reset to zero every time you advance a level. Section 6.2:
The character’s XP is then reset to zero, and they receive a new XPTNL equal to 9 plus the square of the character’s level.

"Experience To Next Level" counts how much XP you have until you reach the next level, doesn't it?

Investigation it is.

Indeed, I'm fully aware of that. I guess both ways of recording XPTNL are valid.
-
I don't see how how much XP you've gained in total is relevant to how much experience you need for the next level, so I'm a bit confused as to what the issue is. If you understand the way the book does it, why did you bring it up?
e: kj1225, could you please subtract the damage you dealt during that fight from your weapon's HP? Also, please fix your raw attack dice.
e2: kj1225, don't forget to add the 2 XP you got.
-
"Gilbert, over here."
Helena tears the Peasant Dress into bandage strips, then waits for Gilbert to walk over to apply the bandages.
-

Say you need to pick 20 apples today. In three hours, you've picked 11 apples. How many more apples do you need to pick until you've finished picking apples?
Again, both ways of calculating it are perfectly valid.
-
You need to pick 20 and you've picked 11. Are you suggesting that the XP should be subtracted from the TNL rather than being a separate number? I've never even heard of that.
-
Don't worry about it. It's not important.
-
Ok. We're waiting on Gilbert and Malcolm to finish the turn.
-
Gilbert huffs and nods his head, wincing at the feeling. He walks over to Helena and then sits down beside her. "Oh, this hurts. Aaagh. I'm already regretting this adventure." he says, moving his shirt out of the way to look at the wound better. Yep, still bleeding.
-
Is it possible to complete the Investigation in 1 turn if I have someone help me?
-
I call dibs on the sword!
Malcolm attempts to loot the sword from the undead. If Alphonse tries to stop him, then run inside the room that Helena opened and loot something that doesn't require an investigation check instead
-
Alphonse does not try to stop him because he didn't earn the loot it dropped and he didn't call dibs.
-
"Oh yeah, that reminds me. The next person who runs off in the middle of a fight we're winning is going to get stabbed in the ass."
-
Alphonse gives him the finger.
-
Helena silently went about bandaging Gilbert the best she could.
"Hold still... I'm no doctor." Then she addressed everyone else. "There's another corpse in the other room, but I didn't check it for goods yet. I think I saw a sword laying by him if you really want it. Again, I'll need the clothes for bandages. And if they have shoes... I could use a pair. Just keep an eye out for trouble."
-
Turn 7, Part 3
Alphonse begins Investigating the room.
Gilbert moves 4m north and sits down.
Helena uses the Bandage on Gilbert. (3d6+1 = 12) She easily stops the bleeding, at the expense of the dead woman's dignity.
Malcolm takes the Shoddy Arming sword (40/80) from the Undead Skirmisher.
e: My bad, wrong image. You saw nothing.
-
I think you accidentally mixed up Paralun and Solgeid's pictures.
EDIT: I saw that!
-
No you didn't. Forget what you think you saw. Otherwise I'll have to show them your picture.
-
"There... That should do it. You alright?"
Helena walks over and picks up the Bodkin Arrow, careful to avoid whatever device triggered firing it in the first place.
-
Unfortunately, birdy, the arrow broke when it hit the stone wall. It's not usable. Don't worry, you'll find more.
-
"Finally a sword that I can finally call my own. A bit damaged but it'll do for now"
Malcolm tests it out by swinging it in the air a bit
"So let's check out that room you found Helena."
Malcolm runs as far as possible into the eastern room. well at least untill he reaches the body with the other sword. Malcolm compares the two swords
-
Lamenting the breaking of a good arrow, she returned to the other room to start trying to investigate that room. Letting Malcom go first of course.
-
"Thank you very much, miss Helena. You did a fine job! ...I'd normally have it in good sense to take it easy after that, but I don't want to hold the group back, either."
With a only minor complainy sounds, Gilbert stands up, and walks to the western door, waiting by it. He's not about to open it by himself.
"I'll catch my breath here 'till we try this door."
-
Am I supposed to say what I'm doing? I continue investigating.
-
We are actually waiting on kj.
-
Hordor moves northeast three tiles and silently observes his surroundings.
-
Now we are waiting on Paralun, to be clear.
-
Somewhat perturbed that some of you still haven't claimed your XP from that fight.
Turn 8
Malcolm runs 21m to the eastern door.
Helena runs 19m to follow Malcolm.
Gilbert stands up, and walks 6m to the western door.
Hordor jogs 9m northeast.
Alphonse finishes his Investigation of the room. (Investigation: 12) He finds 2d hidden in a pile of dust, and takes it.
-
There was nothing in the desks?
Loot the incense and the dagger.
-
They're actually just tables, not the kind of desk that has drawers.
-
Damn. I only chose to investigate to see what would be in the drawers. Oh well.
-
In the future, you can just go open the drawers.
-
Hordor jogs east six feet.
-
By the way, since I failed to inflict bleeding on the Undead Skirmisher any of the 3 times he was hit, I would like to award Gilbert 3 VP as a consolation prize.
-
Gilbert waits.
Gilbert also thinks about armor.
((Hey Andres, wanna back me up over here? Let's peek westward, it'd make a good group of 3/2. Also, thanks, Squeegy!))
-
((Unfortunately, due to an incident where a dead woman's clothes were taken and was left there to lie on the floor naked, you'll have to wait for 2-3 turns due to some RP I'm gonna do.))
-
Malcolm attempts to loot the corpse in the room
Now which of these swords is better? :-\
-
Helena goes no farther than the threshold of the door in the name of caution, her eyes scanning for traps.
"...Do you think he has shoes?"
-
Turn 9
Alphonse picks up Incense and a Poor Dagger (88/100).
Hordor jogs 6m east.
Gilbert does nothing.
Malcolm jogs 8m east and looks at the corpse. It's carrying a Poor Short sword (85/100), a tunic & pants, shoes, a rucksack which contains bandages, a flint & steel, and 12d.
Helena walks 3m northeast and scans the room. (Visual Acuity: 9) She detects nothing out of the ordinary.
-
Hordor goes 12 meters west.
-
"Ok Helena, looks like you'll need these"
Malcolm stuffs the bandages inside the shoes "Catch" and tosses them towards Helena
"You guys go on ahead without me, I need to spend some alone time with this corpse"
OOC:You should probably provide a link to the PDF in the op. Therefore I won't have to hunt down the OOC thread to compare equipment.
-
Alphonse runs to 1 square down from the dead Undead and sees the naked woman, at which point he facepalms and runs back to the corpse.
-
(Going to assume you mean the female corpse.)
-
NOTHING TO SEE HERE
-
(Going to assume you mean the female corpse.)
(Don't. I meant the corpse with the incense and the dagger.)
-
(Going to assume you mean the female corpse.)
(Don't. I meant the corpse with the incense and the dagger.)
In that case, you could just walk. That's only 4m.
-
(Going to assume you mean the female corpse.)
(Don't. I meant the corpse with the incense and the dagger.)
In that case, you could just walk. That's only 4m.
According to my calculations it's 10m. Starting from 1 square down from the Undead Skirmisher, it's two squares diagonal down-right (6m) and two squares right (4m). Since I'd have to travel from where I am right now to there and back again the distance will be 20m total, meaning I'll have to run.
-
Oh! I missed the dead undead. I thought you were just walking 1 square down. Yeah, alright.
-
Btw I edited my first action to include throwing shoes at Helena. Just so you know
-
You're trying to cram way too much into a single turn, Malcolm. Picking up two items from the body on its own would be your whole turn.
-
Ok, I have some retconning to do. I'm not changing my character sheet since I will pick up the items eventually.
-
Gilbert decides others are close enough to help out if things go bad, so, he moves up two tiles, and opens the west door.
-
Helena smiled broadly.
"Bless your heart. You know how to make a girl happy. I haven't had a pair of shoes in a little over a year..."
Helena immediately put the shoes on her feet and deposited the roll of bandages onto her person.
-
Are we waiting on Paralun again?
-
Yes.
-
Turn 10
Hordor jogs 12m west.
Malcolm picks up the Rucksack containing Bandages and the Shoes, and gives the Bandages and Shoes to Helena.
Alphonse runs 10m northwest, sees Hordor standing over the dead naked woman, and runs back.
Gilbert moves 4m north and opens the door.
Helena puts on the Shoes.
-
"Whenever you're ready, it looks like the rest of the guys want to move on."
Helena glanced over at the woman's corpse, her face blushing with shame.
"...If you could... Could you grab that guys tunic or... Something? I don't know if I like leaving her all... Exposed like that."
-
Remembering what happened the last time there was a long narrow passageway, Gilbert starts to look for traps that might be down this hall. (investigate?)
-
I loot the tunic and the lockpicks.
-
Hordor flips the woman over to help protect her dead modesty.
-
"Whenever you're ready, it looks like the rest of the guys want to move on."
Helena glanced over at the woman's corpse, her face blushing with shame.
"...If you could... Could you grab that guys tunic or... Something? I don't know if I like leaving her all... Exposed like that."
"Good idea Helena, we can use this guys tunic and pants to make even more bandages, or napkins, or towels." :P
Malcolm begins taking off the shirt of his corpse, :-[ he then stops.
"I can't do it, I can't be that cold practical guy who always makes the practical decision regardless of emotion! Here let's give these corpses a proper burial"
Malcolm loots the flint and steel, coins and short sword and then attempts to light the corpse on fire
-
"I-in here? This place would fill up with smoke and... People don't burn like that!"
-
"Ok, have it your way"
Malcolm puts away the flint and steel before walking west. Unless he didn't pick up the shortsword, if so Malcolm stays until he can loot the shortsword
-
Helena walked over and liberated the man of his tunic.
"I hope this man doesn't mind too much. Maybe we could return and bury them outside once we're done here."
-
Turn 11
Gilbert scans for traps. (Visual Acuity: 10) He sees nothing out of the ordinary.
Alphonse grabs the Tunic and Lockpicks (5 uses) off the body.
Hordor flips the woman on to her back, which is arguably worse.
Malcolm takes 12d and the Flint and Steel off the body.
Helena walks 5m east and takes the Tunic off the body.
-
Helena over to the fallen woman and drapes the tunic over her body. It wasn't much, but she couldn't just leave the girl lie so exposed like that.
-
"Ok, just one last thing and we can be on our way."
Malcolm picks up the shortsword and runs as far west as possible
-
Alphonse runs to the woman sees Helena draping the tunic over the woman. He also sees that the woman had been flipped over and Hordor standing right next to the woman as well. Alphonse gives Hordor a dirty look.
-
"Finished looting?"
-
Alphonse spits in Hordor's face.
-
Hordor wipes away the spit.
"Words communicate better than spitting."
-
Gilbert moves 10m to the west and opens the other door.
-
Waiting on kj.
-
Hordor walks over to the hall
-
Turn 12
Helena runs 20m west.
Malcolm picks up the Poor Short sword (85/100) and jogs 13m west.
Alphonse runs 17m to the woman.
Gilbert jogs 10m west and opens the door.
Hordor runs 15m to Gilbert.
-
Hordor moves so he can see around the corner.
-
Turn 13, Part 1
Hordor walks 4m west. (This does not end his turn.)
Some tables have been set up against a door here, though for what purpose is lost to time. Natural light from the entrance barely reaches into this room, but the torch on the wall still burns, keeping the room lit.
The party rolls initiative.
Turn Order: Hordor (16), Gilbert (10), Helena (9), Alphonse (6), Undead Archer (5), Malcolm (3)
-
(Queueing this action)
Alphonse turns the woman over (if it's a free action), covers the woman with his spare tunic, and does a Visual Acuity check on the room.
((The dagger I picked up from the guy is still on the floor in the pictures.))

(Queueing this action)

((Why?))
((To make her more decent and because I can't do anything useful after that action.))
-
((She's already decent though, she was on her chest with a tunic covering her.))
-
Alphonse: Those lockpicks do actually have a weight. You should set the number to 1, the weight to .5, and add "(5 uses)" to the name. Also, Helena is coming over to put her tunic on the woman, so you might as well get closer to the fight. Though Visual Acuity is always a good check to do if you've got the time.
kj: You turned the woman on her back, since she was already on her front. It's just not represented in the picture. And Helena has not reached the body yet.

I was gonna ask how I'd calculate the weight and stuff. Thanks. As for why I'm doing it now, I reckoned that since I'm already here and Helena's in front of me in the turn order, I might as well do it. I've just thought of something awesome I could do which I'm hoping will give me bonus XP so I guess I will let her handle it.
kj: You turned the woman on her back, since she was already on her front. It's just not represented in the picture.
Exactly. That's why Alphonse gave you the dirty lack and spat in your face - he thought you turned her over so you could perv at her corpse.
I run as close to the Archer as I can.
-
"Huff...Huff....Don't worry guys I'm coming....the loot is just weighing me down. Go on ahead without me
Keep running westward
-
By the way, Andres, you have a rank in Acrobatics but didn't give yourself an Acrobatics bonus.

By the way, Andres, you have a rank in Acrobatics but didn't give yourself an Acrobatics bonus.
I did, actually, but the weight penalty cancels it out so I set it to 0.

There was a dead woman on the ground, naked and lying on her belly, and you turned her over for no apparent reason. Also, your character's appearance looks really creepy/barbaric/evil.
-
kj, you can finish your turn. Since you started combat, I'll let you turn that walk move into a jog or a run or whatever.
-
Gilbert has a peek, and winces, reaching to the bandaged place at his chest. He's not looking forward to this.
Gilbert charges with Hordor, trying to get into melee striking range of the undead archer.
-
Helena continues moving to drape the tunic over the poor woman's body.
Whatever trouble the guys were getting into this time could probably wait.
-
Hordor walks over to the stool. If he has time he stabs at the archer.
((Except she was face up.))
-
(Guys. Quit messing with the dead stuff. We are trying to race Paralun here. Let's get a move on.)
-
((Except she was face up.))
((No. She was originally face-down but when you rolled her over she became face-up. The GM has stated this multiple times.))
-
((I said to put her on her back though.))
-
((No, you just said to roll her over.))
Hordor flips the woman over to help protect her dead modesty.
-
((Then it would be presumed that it was onto her stomach or not at all.))
-
I did find it strange why you would turn her over onto her back to "protect her modesty", but that's what you said to do and that's what I said you did and I've stated it multiple times since then so it's not my fault or anyone else's you weren't paying attention. It's not my place to interpret player actions as being different from what they say they are.
-
Changing my action. I jog to the archer and drop my spear.
-
kj, are you going to take the rest of your action or not?
-
Hordor walks over to the stool. If he has time he stabs at the archer.
((Except she was face up.))
-
Ah, my apologies. I missed it under all the OOC.
Turn 13, Part 2
Hordor jogs 6m more to the stool and jabs at the archer across the table. (AD:9;ED:1;12,4) He stabs it in the torso for 4 damage with his pitchfork. It begins to bleed 2 VP/turn from the wound.
An Undead Warrior shambles out from the entrance way. Where did that come from?
Gilbert runs 20m behind Hordor.
Helena walks to the woman and covers her modesty.
Alphonse jogs towards the archer and drops a Shoddy Short spear (70/80).
The Undead Archer fires an arrow at Hordor.
-
"Guys, can you wait a bit, I seem to have run into my own set of problems" Malcolm stares at the new undead warrior Malcolm draws his shoddy arming sword "I guess it's time to test this thing out"
Malcolm rushes over to the undead and attacks it
-
Helena mutely rose from the woman's body.
She knocked an arrow and fired it at the undead warrior
-
I jog 6 squares left and do a Visual Acuity check.
I'm planning to jog towards the archer, jump by using the stool to launch myself, and flying kick the archer/frontflip over the archer, land behind it, and attack it from behind/flying kick through the door.
Which of the above scenarios is possible?
-
Gilbert feels more confident now that the undead has to nock another arrow, and moves 2 tiles to the east, aiming for the arm nearest to him, with the intent to sever.
-

Well, it would be possible for you to jog towards it, make an Acrobatics check to frontflip over it (with a DC of like 15), land behind it, and then attack it from behind. You can't flying kick anything (though that would make a decent unarmed knack), and doors aren't that easy to break down.
-
Perhaps the knack for breaking a door down with a flying kick should be called Dynamic Entry (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DynamicEntry)?
-
Perhaps the knack for breaking a door down with a flying kick should be called Dynamic Entry (http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DynamicEntry)?
It shouldn't work because that's not at all how you kick down a door.
-

It shouldn't work because that's not at all how you kick down a door.
There's a knack that lets you run on water. I'm not sure that flying kick-ing a door down is that much more unrealistic.
-
You can fake being able to run on water. You can't fake looking cool when you break your foot on a door and hit your head on the floor.
-
The knack isn't our ability to look like we're running on water, it's our actual ability to literally run on water. If we can not-fakely do that then we can not-fakely kick a door down.
-
I don't consider such a knack likely because it doesn't fit easily into any skill category and it seems like it would be too general-purpose for a knack (they are supposed to be somewhat more limited in use because they are so powerful).
Even kicking down a door the regular way takes multiple tries from people who are in peak physical condition: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EqQnDVqr7_g I think the current rules for breaking down doors are reasonable.
e: Hey kj, you need to state how you'll defend against that arrow.
-
You can fake being able to run on water. You can't fake looking cool when you break your foot on a door and hit your head on the floor.
Sigged
-
kj, you need to state how you're going to defend against that arrow.
-
Dodge roll right.
-
Turn 13, Part 3
(AD:2;ED:8) Hordor rolls out of the way of the arrow, which clatters against the wall.
Malcolm jogs 12m north and readies his Shoddy Arming sword.
Turn Order: Hordor, Undead Warrior (15), Gilbert, Helena, Alphonse, Undead Archer, Malcolm
-
((Can I trip people with my weapon?))
-
Will doing my stunt give me bonus XP?
-
kj: I'm afraid not.
Andres: Probably not. I'm only really going to award bonus XP for good roleplaying. I don't think any single person will be getting more XP than everyone else.
-
"Now it's time for you to shine"
Malcolm swings his sword at the undead
-
Continue prepping and firing dat arrow. Provided that Malcolm isn't in the way.
-
I pick up the spear and do a Visual Acuity check.
-
Stabby stab archer
-
Turn 14, Part 1
The Undead Archer bleeds 2 VP.
Hordor stabs the archer with his pitchfork. (AD:10;ED:6;10,3,0) He stabs it in the torso for 3 damage. The wound does not bleed significantly.
The Undead Warrior swings its sword at Malcolm.
-
dodge it
Out of curiosity, what is the undead wearing and what specific weapon is it wielding?
-
Gilbert feels more confident now that the undead has to nock another arrow, and moves 2 tiles to the east, aiming for the arm nearest to him, with the intent to sever.
(whoops, posting this action now)
-
Turn 14, Part 2
(AD:4;ED:2;10,8,0) Malcolm fails to dodge the swing, and it slices him across the torso for 8 damage, fortunately not drawing too much blood.
Gilbert moves 4m east and swings at the archer's left arm with intent to sever from the side. (AD:6;ED:4;4,2) He deals 4 damage, not swinging with enough force to sever. The Undead Archer begins to bleed 2 VP/turn more, for a total of 4 VP/turn.
Helena fires an arrow at the Undead Warrior. (AD:1,1;ED:2) The arrow misses.
Alphonse picks up the spear and looks around. (Visual Acuity: 11) He doesn't see anything out of the ordinary.
The Undead Archer fires an arrow at Hordor.
-
Dodge left.
-
Turn 14, Part 3
(AD:4;ED:1;15,7) The arrow strikes Hordor solidly in the right arm for 7 damage.
Malcolm swings his arming sword at the Undead Warrior. (AD:1;ED:4) His clumsy swing with the shoddy weapon misses wildly. He observes that the Undead Warrior is wielding a short sword and wearing a helmet.
Turn Order: Hordor, Undead Warrior, Gilbert, Helena, Alphonse, Undead Archer, Malcolm
-
Hordor, have you always been missing a dominant hand? And you're still missing the XP gained from the last fight. Please keep your sheet up to date.
-
((No idea how that happened.))
Stab. Ow.
-
((I picked up the spear but the spear still appears to be on the ground.))
Run 3 squares left, 1 square down-left, 2 squares down, and 2 squares down-left over the desks.
-
Turn 15, Part 1
The Undead Archer bleeds 4 VP, and is now bleeding 3 VP/turn.
Hordor stabs at the archer. (AD:10;ED:5;9,3) He hits it in the torso hard, and as he pulls the pitchfork back out, it slumps towards him and onto the table, dead.
The Undead Warrior swings its sword at Malcolm.
-
P.S. kj you need to keep your VP updated too, since bleeding doesn't show in limb damage.
-
"GAHHHHHH!!! DEAR GOD IT HURTS SO MUCH!! THIS SWORD SUCKS, the handle is too wobbly." Notices the undead preparing another swing "OH GOD NOT ANOTHER ONE!!"
Malcolm attempts to dodge again (not a dodge roll).
When it's Malcolm's turn:
Malcolm sidesteps upwards-diagonally left so he is adjacent to the undead's left side. He then attempts to shove him into the wall
"I'm gonna try something right now, if it doesn't work I probably won't be able to take this guy on my own. Alphonse can you please help us?"
If shove succeeds, kick the undead into a prone position
If shove fails, just attack him normally
Out of curiosity how did the undead warrior take damage?
Link to rules PDF (http://www.havenspire.com/footsoldiers.pdf) for future reference
-
Helena swears under her breath and prepares another volley. She really wiffed that one.
-
Malcolm attempts to block the blow with his sword.
"I don't like this sword, the handle is too wobbly"
Malcolm runs south 10 metres
"Also, I don't think I can take this guy on my own. Alphonse can you please help us?"
Out of curiosity how did the undead warrior take damage?
Link to rules PDF (http://www.havenspire.com/footsoldiers.pdf) for future reference
He didn't, you did.
-
Jog towards the Undead Warrior and make a Visual Acuity check.
-
Gilbert feels relieved that it went down relatively easily. "Good work!" he calls to Hordor.
Gilbert loots the undead archer, taking whatever it's got! Preference for armor first, if there is any.
-
(sorry, modifying my previous action)
-
Turn 15, Part 2
(AD:4;ED:6) An alternate universe wherein Malcolm tries to block with his shitty sword and gets another chunk taken out of him briefly flashes before his eyes, and then he comes to his senses and easily sidesteps the Undead's attack.
Gilbert looks over the dead archer. It's carrying a poor bow, 18 field tip arrows, a tunic, pants, shoes, and 4d. He takes the Poor Bow (72/100) and arrows.
Helena fires an arrow at the Undead Warrior. (AD:1,1;ED:2) Her aim is completely off today, and she misses once again.
Alphonse jogs towards the Undead Warrior and looks around. (Visual Acuity: 8) He swears he sees something at the corner of his eye... oh, it's a floater.
Malcolm moves 3m northwest and tries to deliver a swift kick to the Undead. (AD:3;ED:1) The kick lands, shoving the Undead back into the wall, which knocks it on its ass. He then attacks the now-sitting Undead Warrior. (AD:3;ED:3) The attack barely misses, his sword clanging against the wall.
Turn Order: Hordor, Undead Warrior, Gilbert, Helena, Alphonse, Malcolm
-
Jog so I'm down from the Undead Warrior and attack it.
-
"Oh sweet heavens..."
Helena's arm was really messy today. Had her father seen just how poorly she was shooting, he'd be ashamed. She fires another arrow for good measure.
-
Out of curiosity, what type of dice was rolled when I was trying to perform my shove, a D4?
-
Hordor jogs down to inspect the door. He makes a visual accuity check.
-
Out of curiosity, what type of dice was rolled when I was trying to perform my shove, a D4?
Yes, your attack dice pool was rolled.
-
Gilbert thinks it's probably good to grab money too, so, he picks up the 4d... and the shoes as well.
Looting!
-
Turn 16, Part 1
Hordor jogs down 15m and checks out the door. (Visual Acuity: 11) He observes that it's locked.
The Undead Warrior stands up and attacks Malcolm.
-
Dodge down
EDIT: ((Are you sure I did 5 damage straight-up? To me it looks like I did next to nothing to it based on its health bar.))
-
You don't dodge in a direction unless you're dodge rolling. Are you dodge rolling?
-
btw, if you dodge roll, you lose your next turn. but don't worry about that. I should have the undead warrior dead by the end of this turn. So I would indeed recommend dodge-rolling.
EDIT: Also I think you guys got the turn order wrong. Helena was supposed to try to shoot another arrow at it and then Alphonse would attack it.
-
You won't lose your next turn by dodge rolling. And I did get the turn order wrong.
-
Just dodge.
-
So, I'm going to give everyone else their turns ahead of Andres. Malcolm, you'll be the new target of that Undead Warrior's attack, how do you want to defend? I also need your action this turn.
-
Dodge roll so I am facing the undead from the north
"Hey Alphonse, can you shove this undead bastard into the wall again for me, like how I did earlier. Thanks"
If Alphonse does indeed do what I say, kick the (hopefully sitting undead) into a prone position and perform a finisher. Aim for the head
If Alphonse doesn't, then say: ??? ........ :(
"Uhhh.....ok then" Malcolm switches his sword out for his scythe "It just hasn't been working for me, you can understand that"
If Alphonse tries and fails, then say: >:(
Malcolm drops his sword on the ground and attempts to grab the undead "So you think you're so clever dodging all of our attacks, well let's see what happens when you can't dodge!!!"
-
Well, Alphonse already has a successful attack lined up, but he can scrap it to shove the undead into the wall if he wants.
-
oh, so Alphonse's attack wasn't retconned out of existence, ok good to know. I change my action to leaving the dodge roll the same but performing a flanking attack on the undead's side (with my arming sword) instead of my previous suggestions
-
Hold on, I was under the impression that dodge and dodge roll were different things. Crap, have I been holding up the game all this time? Really freaking sorry. Dodge roll down.
-
Yes, they are different things, as I explained. We've been waiting on Paralun.
-
In the combat section, it mentions Dodge Roll but not Dodge. That made me think I was doing something wrong considering I'd also forgotten what you said and I didn't actually read the section. :( Normal dodge.
-
Turn 16, Part 2
(AD:6;ED:9) He rolls out of the way of the swing to the northeast.
Gilbert picks up 4d and the Shoes. He thinks it would make a good name for a band.
Helena fires another arrow at the Undead Warrior. (AD:4,2;ED:5) She finally overcomes her shaky aim, and the arrow lands much closer this time, but still doesn't hit.
Alphonse jogs up to the Undead Warrior and attacks it from the side. (AD:6;ED:4;10,4,2) His first swing stabs the sitting Undead in the torso for 4 damage. It begins bleeding 2 VP/turn. (AD:3;ED:1;9,1,3) He follows it up with another stab to a major artery, dealing 1 damage, but it is now bleeding 5 VP/turn.
Malcolm attacks the Undead Warrior. (AD:1;ED:1) His clumsy swing matches the warrior's clumsy dodge, and he misses.
Turn Order: Hordor, Undead Warrior, Gilbert, Helena, Alphonse, Malcolm
-
"Ok, this is beginning to get silly now. I think I will practice my swordsmanship later"
Malcolm switches out from his arming sword to his scythe. If Malcolm can, attack with his scythe.
-
Curse malign arrows. Shoot again.
-
Malcolm, just to streamline this a little, the Undead Warrior will attack you this turn. How do you respond?
-
Open da door!
-
just dodge
-
Gilbert moves southeast one tile, gives Hordor 2d for a good kill just now, and gets ready for the door to be opened.
-
Move up-left, shove the Warrior into the wall, and attack it.
-
Turn 17
The Undead Warrior bleeds 5 VP.
Hordor attempts to open the door, but fails because it is locked. Now who's wasting time?
The Undead Warrior swings his sword at Malcolm. (AD:8;ED:8) Malcolm twists and leans out of the way of the blade, which shaves a few threads off his tunic.
Gilbert moves 3m southeast and gives 2d to Hordor.
Helena fires another arrow. (AD:4,5;ED:2;7,5) Her confidence returns to her as she manages to land a hit, the Undead's head snapping back with an audible cracking sound as the blunt arrow bounces off of it.
Alphonse circles around the Undead Warrior's side and tries to shove it. (AD:2;ED:3) He fails to budge the monstrosity.
Malcolm puts away his arming sword and draws his scythe.
Turn Order: Hordor, Undead Warrior, Gilbert, Helena, Alphonse, Malcolm
-
Don't jumpy after the first hit. If you're prey isn't down, ready another arrow and shoot again.
Helena smiled after finally hitting the foul creature, but it was quickly wiped off of her face. She could celebrate when it was dead. Right now, Alphonse and Malcolm were still in danger.
5th volley!
-
Malcolm, you'll be attacked again this turn, include your defense with your round.
-
Shove it again.
-
Block with scythe
"You have wasted our time long enough. If there is still a man inside you, come out now or you will be forever joined in holy union with the father above"
Shove it and with my extended reach attack it
-
Gilbert grasps his axe firmly and hears the door rattle, determining it's locked. He immediately sizes it up as lumber, and nods. "Be clear of my axe, I'll chop us a path." he says to Hordor.
Attack door! (it has 30 HP, right?)
-
Hordor shrugs.
He walks three meters north then makes a visual acuity check.
-
Turn 18, Part 1
The Undead Warrior bleeds 5 VP. It is now bleeding 4 VP/turn.
Hordor walks 3m northwest and looks around. (Visual Acuity: 7) Nothing out of the ordinary in this room.
The Undead Warrior swings at Malcolm. (AD:7;ED:1;13,5,0) He attempts to block it with his scythe, for some reason, which goes horribly wrong. It slices him across the waist for 5 damage, thankfully not inflicting serious bleeding.
Gilbert gives the door a good chop. (6) Actually, it was a pretty terrible chop. He's not proud of it. Fortunately, the door was already pretty badly damaged, so even with chops like that it shouldn't take too much longer to bring down.
Helena womans up and fires another arrow from the side. (AD:4,6;ED:1;11,4) The ghost of her father smiles upon her, and her arrow finds its mark in the creature's torso. It folds up like a rag doll with the force of the hit, smacking against the wall before collapsing in a heap.
The party gains 10 XP. Turns are now free.
-
Malcolm swings his scythe only to realize that the zombie is dead.
"Oh... it's dead already. You can have the loot Alphonse. I accomplished absolutely nothing that fight, Hooray for me" :-[
Malcolm ignores the corpse and walks to catch up with the others
As he walks and passes Helena he grumpily says "Good Job Helena"
He continues on his way
-
What's on the corpse?
-
An average short sword, a shoddy helmet, a tunic & pants, shoes, a cross, and 6d.
-
Loot the sword and the helmet.
-
Turn 18, Part 2
Malcolm walks 6m southwest.
Alphonse takes an Average Short sword (47/150) and a Shoddy Helmet (4/10) off the corpse.
-
Loot the shoes and the money.
-
"Hey, you didn't see how many arrows I botched."
Helena makes her way down to the hallway where her allies were.
"What is going on over there?"
-
Malcolm seeing Helena's quickened pace, decides to hurry up as well and starts running to that door his allies are next to. Vault over the tables if possible.
"So what are you guys looking at? Is something wrong?
-
Keep on hackin' at the door.
"We're looking at unruly timber blocking the way. I'm taking care of it."
-
Hordor nods.
Hordor makes another VA check.
-
Waiting on Paralun.
-
Turn 19
Alphonse takes the Shoes and 6d.
Helena runs 19m towards Hordor and Gilbert.
Malcolm runs 22m towards Helena.
Gilbert gives the door a solid chop. (10) The door shudders and cracks. He probably couldn't open it now if he unlocked it, but if he keeps chopping he should be able to take it down.
Hordor gives the room another once-over. (Visual Acuity: 7) Nope, nothing here.
-
"Oh, so you guys are trying to knock down the door. Maybe this will have a use"
Malcolm draws his crappy sword, and charges at the door (don't forget the battle-cry), vaulting tables with acrobatics checks before giving the door a wack
-
Leave the dungeon and find a merchant to buy my loot.
-
Leave the dungeon and find a merchant to buy my loot.
Uh, I guess I would allow that if you guys entered resting phase.
-
Helena blinked twice at the already bloody and bruised Malcolm. Did he really want to hurt himself like that!? She opened her mouth to speak, but her attention was arrested by the nearby torch. Huh.
She moves over to the torch and gives it a thorough inspection.
-
Hordor waits for his compatriots to knock down the door.
-
I guess we're not gonna wait. Run to the door.
-
Yes, gilbert attacks the door!
-
Turn 20
Malcolm draws his shoddy arming sword and charges at the desk. (Acrobatics: 12) He clears it and gives the door a solid whack. (18) His sword shudders as he cleaves into the decrepit wood.
Helena jogs to the torch and inspects it. (Visual Acuity: 5) A burning torch in an ordinary sconce.
Hordor waits.
Alphonse runs 22m towards the rest of the group. (Update your Acrobatics bonus, jerk.)
Gilbert gives the door another chop. (12) With a shuddering crash, the door falls.
The door reveals a staircase that leads down. It is the only way forward.
-
(Fixed. I kinda forgot about updating the sheet. It's been a while.)
I run to the torch.
((Gonna try pulling it or whatever to get to the secret room.))
-
Gilbert puts the axe head to the ground, rests his arm on the handle, and wipes his brow. "I think this is it."
Gilbert listens carefully, hoping to hear if there is anything at the other end of the stairs.
-
Malcolm takes off his shoe and throws down the stairs, in order to check for traps
-
Waiting on kj and birdy.
-
Helena walks to the stairs.
Sorry!
-
Malcolm seeing Helena walk downstairs before anyone checked for traps changes his mind about throwing his shoes. He decides to wait to see what happens to Helena first. He then walks downstairs after Helena
-
Hordor waits a while longer.
-
Turn 21
Alphonse runs to the torch.
Gilbert listens carefully. (Listen: 13) He hears an occasional clattering sound, but nothing more.
Malcolm throws his shoe down the staircase. Nothing happens.
Helena jogs 12m to the stairs.
Hordor waits.
-
Jiggle, wiggle, and pull on the torch in every direction. VA check on the torch-holder.
-
Turn 22, Part 1
Alphonse jiggles, wiggles, fiddles, riddles and shimmies the torch, to no effect. (Visual Acuity: 14) He's pretty sure there's nothing special about this torch, other than it still being alight.
-
"Ok, I think there aren't any traps here."
Malcolm carelessly runs downstairs and puts on his shoes
-
Helena calmly walks down the stairs to the door and inspects it.
-
Gilbert thinks all due caution has been taken, says, "I hear something up ahead." and then beckons the rest to follow.
Gilbert goes down the stairs.
-
Waiting on kj.
-
Visual acuity please.
-
Turn 22, Part 1
Alphonse jiggles, wiggles, fiddles, riddles and shimmies the torch, to no effect. (Visual Acuity: 14) He's pretty sure there's nothing special about this torch, other than it still being alight.
Turn 22, Part 2
Malcolm retrieves his shoe and carelessly runs down the stairs.
Helena calmly walks downstairs.
Gilbert jogs downstairs.
Hordor looks around carefully. (Visual Acuity: 14) He doesn't see anything from here.
-
"Well... After you."
Helena gestures to the door and readies her bow.
"You guys haven't found any arrows, have you?"
-
Malcolm opens the door
"Gilbert, can you go through first, as you can see you are the least wounded of us here at the moment. Other than Helena of course, but she's a lady and lady's don't go first."
-
Turn 23, Part 1
Malcolm opens the door.
Pale patches on the wall suggest that there used to be paintings or something similar decorating the walls of this room. A rug heavily laden with dust is still on the floor.
The party rolls initiative.
Turn Order: Malcolm (17), Helena (14,10), Gilbert (14,4), Hordor (9), Alphonse (8), Undead Sentinel (4)
-
Do the doors have keyholes we can peek through?
Jog towards the Sentinel and equip my helmet.
-
"I found some arrows, and a bow, in fact." Gilbert says to Helena. He gets 10 field tip arrows out and gives them to her. "I'll save just a few for myself in case I can get a chance to use them."
Gilbert then moves south 6 tiles, and attacks the undead champion.
-
"What is... that? :-[
Malcolm runs up behind Gilbert and uses his scythe's reach to attack the sentinel
-
Malcolm, you move before Gilbert. That turn won't work.
-
Jog 10m down, then walk one square diagonally downwards left. With the extended reach of my scythe attack the sentinal
-
Helena nodded in agreement as she eyed the monstrosity.
"Yeah. That's not a bad idea. You hold on to some of them. If you guys get too beat up... Well. I don't really know how to swing a sword but I can try."
Helena takes the arrows and pockets em before nocking and firing a Blunt Tipped arrow at the sentinel.
-
Waiting on kj.
-
Still need kj's turn.
-
Can we just idle kj?
-
Hordor jogs towards the sentinel.
-
Turn 23, Part 2
Malcolm jogs 8m south and attacks the Undead Sentinel, since moving diagonally would put him 13m away and thus unable to attack this turn. (AD:4;BD:10;8) The armored Sentinel blocks the attack with a Poor Heater shield, the shield absorbing 8 damage.
Helena fires a blunt arrow at the Undead Sentinel. (AD:5,6;BD:1;8,1) It sails past its guard and hits it straight in the head for 1 damage, but the Sentinel's Average Coif absorbs the damage.
Gilbert jogs 12m south and attacks the Undead Sentinel. (AD:1;BD:1) He misses badly, but the Sentinel doesn't seem to notice him, staring at Malcolm with dead eyes.
Hordor jogs 12m south.
Alphonse puts on the Shoddy Helmets and jogs 12m south.
The Undead Champion stabs past Gilbert at Malcolm with an Average Short spear.
-
"GILBERT IS RIGHT THERE! WHY WOULD YOU ATTACK ME?!!"
Malcolm dodge rolls Southwest
Small question, is it possible to use luck points to reroll the evasion rolls on attacks that kill us?
I will wait to see the results of my dodge roll before I post the rest of my turn
-
(Yes, it's possible to do that.)
Turn 23, Part 3
(AD:6;ED:8;1) Malcolm barely manages to roll away from the attack to the northwest.
Turn Order: Malcolm, Helena, Gilbert, Hordor, Alphonse, Undead Sentinel
-
Helena pulls a Field-Tip arrow up to her cheek. It been a while since she had worked with a real arrow. Fire!
-
Malcolm hides behind the pillar and takes out his arming sword. If possible, perform a stealth check
"Psssst.....Gilbert....over here....."
-
Run behind the sentinel.
-
"Malcolm, what are you doing? It's not going to be fooled by that."
Gilbert attacks the Sentinel.
-
"I'm trying to lure it towards the pillar so I can then wrap around and stab it from behind, of course Alphonse has that covered now so I guess there's no need. I still don't want that thing to attack me, one more hit and I'm dead!"
-
jog towards champion.
-
Turn 24, Part 1
Malcolm walks behind the pillar, puts away his scythe, and draws his arming sword.
Helena nocks a field tip arrow and fires. (AD:2,1;BD:10;4) The Sentinel blocks the arrow with its shield effortlessly, absorbing 4 damage.
Gilbert swings his axe at the Sentinel. (AD:2;ED:6) The Sentinel sways backward to avoid Gilbert's attack.
Hordor jogs 12m towards the Sentinel.
Alphonse runs 20m up next to Gilbert.
The Undead Sentinel turns its attention to Gilbert and stabs at him with its spear.
-
Gilbert blocks with axe.
-
Malcolm steps runs as far south as possible, and then 4 meters to the left, the 4 meters stealthily of course
-
Turn 24, Part 2
(AD:7;BD:8;5) The Sentinel's spear clanks against Gilbert's axe as he tries to block it. The Sentinel leans in close to him, breathing rotten air onto his face, and just when it is about to sweep Gilbert's axe aside and stab him, Gilbert senses it coming and shoves it away, going into a defensive stance.
Invaded by a dark spirit!
Turn Order: Malcolm, Dark Spirit (15), Helena, Gilbert, Hordor, Alphonse, Undead Sentinel
-
Can I use a luck point on that?
-
Fate guide my hands! Use a luck point to assist blocking.
-
Jog to behind the sentinel and attack it.
-
Gilbert continues the assault! Attack the sentinel.
-
Malcolm steps runs as far south as possible, and then 4 meters to the left, the 4 meters stealthily of course
-
Keep firing. All day erry day.
-
Jog to the right of the sentinal, then stab it with my pitchfork.
Hordor sniffs the air. "I think there's something else lurking here..."
-
Turn 25, Part 1
Malcolm runs 14m south, then moves 4m east stealthily. (Stealth: 7/Visual Acuity: 9) The Sentinel turns its head and stares at him, then turns back to Gilbert.
Helena fires an arrow between her three teammates at the Sentinel. (AD:4,4;BD:11;ED:1;7,4) The arrow strikes Hordor in the head for 4 damage.
Gilbert swings his axe at the Sentinel. (AD:8;BD:8;7) The Sentinel blocks with its shield, absorbing 7 damage. The shield shatters in its hand as Gilbert's axe hits it, and it tosses the splintered mess aside.
Hordor winces as he feels the arrow lodged in his skull and moves forward, jogging 7m to attack the Sentinel from the side. (AD:10;ED:2;13,3) He stabs the Sentinel in the side of the torso for 3 damage, but the Sentinel's armor absorbs 2 of it.
Alphonse jogs 7m behind the Sentinel and tries to plant his daggers in its back. (AD:1;ED:1) The Sentinel avoids his first attack by chance, as it keeps its rotting eyes on Gilbert. (AD:2;ED:1;12,6) The other one lands firmly in its torso, dealing 6 damage, 2 of which is absorbed by the Sentinel's armor.
The Undead Sentinel strikes at Gilbert again.
-
Attack again.
-
Block!
-
Turn 25, Part 2
(AD:8,BD:6;9,4,3) Gilbert tries to block it with his axe, but the Sentinel hits him in the torso for 4 damage. He begins to bleed 3 VP/turn.
Turn Order: Malcolm, Dark Spirit, Helena, Gilbert, Hordor, Alphonse, Undead Sentinel
-
Changing action to Aim at head and Attack.
-
"Argh! Watch where you're shooting, Helena!"
Complain as a free action, then stab again.
Do I add that 4 damage to my character sheet, or has it already been added by the GM? What happens if I get more than 5 RT?
-
For Rt, nothing. You only have to worry if it's a weapon capable of severing such as a sword, scythe, halberd etc. If you are attacked by weapon capable of severing, if it does RT or more damage the target has to roll a die to determine whether or not the appendage will be severed. Then it will get severed or not severed.
Malcolm walks till he is South-west of the sentinel, he then disorients it "Guys, get behind him!" and performs a normal attack with his sword
-
((Hey. I don't mind having to account for having to shoot around allies, but it is wise to give advanced warning that you're applying that kind of logic. As far as I can tell there is no mention of friendly fire in the core book's combat section.
Also... Cheesecake will be able to make a character who's not Hordor right? I don't mind it for now to sort of end this section, but he should probably be able to make his own/rename his own character here sometime soon. It's a bit of a faux pas to simply take another person's character.))
"Grah! Sorry!"
Helena walks into the room 5 spaces south, then moves 1 to the west before firing another volley of Field-Tip.
-

((Considering the realistic nature of the rulebook, it seems like kind of a given that firing into a crowd could result in hitting someone else if you miss your mark. But I think the mention of it was lost in the book's rewrite, so I've re-added it in its own section.
Kj hardly played Hordor at all, and the character didn't seem particularly well-thought out in the first place, so I don't think it's big deal for Cheesecake to take over for him. But if Hordor dies, I'm open to adding new characters during resting phase, as long as both teams have the same number of total characters.))
Do I add that 4 damage to my character sheet, or has it already been added by the GM? What happens if I get more than 5 RT?
((Removal Threshold is only relevant on an attack with a Severing weapon. If you take more damage in one hit than your RT, they roll to successfully hit you again, and if they do, the limb is removed permanently. Otherwise, if you accumulate twice the RT worth of damage to that limb at any time, it can be semi-permanently crippled.))
-
((Yeah, he mostly just played Hordor with simple commands and a few words. I might play him as gruff, dim and concerned with loot kinda guy, judging by his character token.))
-
Attack the sentinel.
Of course, just attacking isn't all that's done. A bit of panic, and horror at the amount of blood gouting out. Hopefully someone will be able to help with that.
-
I'm assuming we're waiting for Paralun?
-
Turn 26
Gilbert bleeds 3 VP.
Malcolm walks 4m northeast and attempts to disorient the Undead Sentinel with a kick to the back of the knee. (AD:1;ED:2) He fails, but follows it up with an attack anyway. (AD:4;BD:3;17,4,3,1) The Sentinel swings its spear up to try and block the attack, resulting in Malcolm hitting it in the left hand for 4 damage. Three of the Sentinel's decayed fingers are chopped off, and it begins bleeding 1 VP/turn.
Helena jogs into the room and fires another arrow at the Sentinel. (AD:2,1;ED:2) The Sentinel ducks under the arrow, and it flies into the pillar.
Gilbert tries to fight through the pain and swings at the Sentinel. (AD:9,BD:7;9,8) He chops into the Sentinel's torso for 8 damage, 2 of which is absorbed.
Hordor stabs at the Sentinel with his pitchfork. (AD:7,BD:2;9,2) He sinks his pitchfork into its torso for 2 damage, but it's absorbed.
Alphonse aims at the Sentinel's head with his daggers and strikes. (AD:2;ED:1;1,0) His first swing grazes its head for 2 damage, 1 of which is absorbed. (AD:2;ED:1;4) His second swing sinks into its head for 7 damage, 1 absorbed by its helmet. He pulls the dagger back out, and the Sentinel falls over, lifeless.
Turn Order: Malcolm, Dark Spirit, Helena, Gilbert, Hordor, Alphonse
The party gains 10 XP.
-
Aim at head and attack. Who's done the most damage to this thing?
Eh, it doesn't matter. I'm dibsing the loot.
-
(No dibsing the loot while a man is dying, here!)
"Ah... ahh! Help!" Gilbert yells, staggering back and looking down at his body drenched in blood. His own.
Move up two tiles, and sit down.
-
(No dibsing the loot while a man is dying, here!)
(Whose loot do you think I was dibsing?>:) )
-
(No dibsing the loot while a man is dying, here!)
(Whose loot do you think I was dibsing?>:) )
(Oh shit. Shots fired.)
Hordor wiped sweat off his forehead. This thing was tough as hell, and this was just the damn entrance!
"Someone get him some help!"
Meanwhile, stab, stab stab!
-
Malcolm looks at he undead sentinel and examines the state it's in. It's missing 3 fingers, has several chunks taken out of it, and is bleeding heavily. It's clear that it's not long for the world. Now Malcolm could either then try to finish it off or just let the poor thing bleed. So he does the honourable thing and drops his sword leaving it's fate in the hands of God . What Malcolm does next surprises everyone:
Malcolm gives the undead sentinel a solid right hook
If it misses then: Malcolm stared in utter disbelief as to how the bleeding undead still struggled for life, it's going to die in a few seconds anyway. Perhaps it could have died with some honor, oh wait, you were trying to cherry pick him. Perhaps God still has a plan for this creature
If it hits: Malcolm says "What? I'm better with my fists than I am with this sword. Do you really think I would let it live and give it an opportunity to attack Helena?"
As Malcolm thinks of this, he suddenly snaps back to reality and looks around. The Sentinel is dead, Aphonse's dagger having pierced it's skull, Gilbert was fine, and Helena was looking lovely as ever; shame that he couldn't say the same thing about his sword. He always wondered why he kept having these visions of grandeur when the truth was much more mundane.
Malcolm puts away his sword and walks to the door about to open it saying:
"Onwards, we still have a dungeon to explore"
-
Helena shifts over and quickly pulls the bandages out of the folds of her clothes. Gilbert was quickly becoming a bloody mess. Like a stag riddled with arrows and bleeding, he wasn't going to be living much longer if she didn't act now.
"Damn it Gilbert, get back! I need to treat your wounds!"
Shift leftwest and get covering Gilbert's wounds immediately.
-
(Not today, Andres!)
Luck points!
-
After I changed the turn for Raycaster's Luck Point, I realized I'd forgotten a number of other things in my rush to finish the turn, like the Sentinel's armor or Andres's critical damage. I've changed the turn accordingly, you may want to change your action now.
-
>New action!
Gilbert sinks to the ground where he is and sighs heavily. He doesn't know of any evil spirits around. "There has been too much of this. I think I'll take that chest armor. The rest you all can have." he states. "I think either it or I reopened that wound from before."
-
Woohoo! Killed it! So what kind of loot does it have?
"There has been too much of this. I think I'll take that chest armor. The rest you all can have."
Alphonse almost-death glares Gilbert.
-
On the Sentinel's body are: Average Short spear (45/150), Broken Poor Heater shield (0/24), Average Coif (10/39), Average Hauberk (20/39), Shoddy Breastplate (1/10), Shoddy Leggings (6/10), Boots, 10d.
-
I'll take the spear.
-
How does weapon HP factor into item price?
I loot the breastplate and the leggings.
-
You mean current HP? Price is really only relevant when you're buying things at character creation. During play it's a guideline at best, and what price you get really depends on what the merchant thinks it's worth and how well you can haggle them with Mercantilism.
-
Helena walks over to Gilbert, perhaps a bit unnerved by Malcolm's gaze.
"Now just wait one second. I have to patch up Gilbert here..."
Armed with her bandage, Helena patches up Gilbert's bleeding.
-
You mean current HP? Price is really only relevant when you're buying things at character creation. During play it's a guideline at best, and what price you get really depends on what the merchant thinks it's worth and how well you can haggle them with Mercantilism.
But in general, will a merchant pay more for something that has high HP rather than something with low HP?

Yes, of course.
-
Changing action: Looting leggings and hauberk.
-
That is to say, high HP relative to its maximum HP, reflective of the damage the armor has sustained, which would detract from its baseline worth. No different from selling a car with dents in it.
-
Turn 27
Gilbert bleeds 3 VP.
Malcolm walks 4m south to the door.
The party gains 4 XP.
Helena moves east to Gilbert and attempts to bandage his wounds. (Bandaging: 13/9) She expends the makeshift bandages she created to stop his bleeding.
Gilbert sits and rests.
Hordor picks up the Average Short Spear.
Alphonse picks up the Average Hauberk and Shoddy Leggings.
Turn Order: Malcolm, Dark Spirit, Helena, Gilbert, Hordor, Alphonse
-
Malcolm STEALTHILY opens the door
-
Turn 28, Part 1
Malcolm quietly opens the door.
This hallway seems to extend quite a ways. Torches in sconces still burn faintly, lighting it up.
-
Malcolm peeks through the corner of the first doorway
-
Turn 28, Part 2
Malcolm jogs 7m to the corner and peeks down it.
-
Malcolm runs towards the door as much as he can and checks the lock:
If unlocked knock on it as loudly as possible hoping to draw the monsters outside
If locked, Malcolm tries to use his lock-picks to unlock the door Malcolm says Alphonse!! Can you come over here? The door is locked!"
Edit: I swore I had lock-picks, although most likely I just confused Alphonse's lock-picks for my own
-
"There... I was hoping my bandages would last longer but... Anyways. You better hold back here with me Gilbert. You've taken more than enough abuse today."
Then, out of mere curiousity Helena decided to investigate the carpet that was underneath her feet. It was a bit of an odd design...
-
(Why does Malcolm sound so urgent?)
Loot the coif and the money.
-
"Why are you in such a hurry, Malcolm? We barely survived that last fight! We must rest."

"I still need to practice my swordsmanship, I want to get a basic feel for my weapon before I go to sleep."
((The reason why I want to delay a rest is because you only get level up bonuses if you rest, and since I haven't leveled up yet I want to go through one more encounter. In other words, power gaming))
A character’s skill progression is modeled through the gaining of levels. A level is gained when a character receives enough XP to pass a threshold known as XPTNL, and they receive eight hours of sleep.
EDIT: Also Gilbert, you need to update your character sheet with the xp from the sentinal fight

I believe you are also missing the 4 XP you all just gained.
-
When did we gain 4xp? I only remember gaining 10 from Sentinel fight.
-
Last turn. It was bolded.
-
oh, thanks sorry for not noticing that. I'm still 2 XP points away from leveling up but I guess that's okay. Question, can I exchange my 2 luck points for 2 Xp points?
No matter the answer, we still need to resolve Malcolm's bloodlust in-character.
-
No, you cannot. You'll want them later anyway.
-
Okay, I can accept that.
-
Take the breastplate and whatever else is leftover.
"I can agree to that, I feel like I'm nearly dead. I won't be charging around like a knight for awhile."
-
Cheesecake, last chance to submit an action before I process the turn.
-
Sorry! I forgot I didn't post an action. I'll get one up in an hour, when I can get to my computer.
-
"Damn suicidal fool," Hordor muttered under his breath. The rest of the party were either too wounded or busy taking care of the wounded. Malcolm would surely die if he went alone. It wasn't so much he cared, it was that if Malcolm opened the door, who know what horrors he could unleash against the rest of us?
Trail Malcolm and stay behind him. Be prepared for a fight when he opens the door.
-
Turn 28, Part 3
Malcolm runs 11m to the door and checks the knob. It's unlocked. He knocks on it. Nothing happens.
The party gains 2 XP.
Helena investigates the rug underneath her. (Visual Acuity: 10) She's never seen the pattern before. It must be very fancy.
Alphonse takes an Average Coif (10/39) and 10d off the Sentinel's body.
Hordor runs 20m to catch up with Malcolm.
Gilbert takes the Shoddy Breastplate (1/10) and the remains of the Broken Poor Heater shield (0/24). He might be able to fix it later.

-
"So, what? You gonna open the door or not?"
Ready spear when he opens the door. If not, go back to the other room and rest for a while.
-
Malcolm seeing that he took all of his precautions is puzzled why no monsters are coming for him. It was his original plan to just open the door if that was the case but now he's not so sure. What if it isn't a mindless undead on the other side what if it's something that is actually intelligent enough not to come out of the door. Sure it may just be empty and filled with loot but think of the possibilities. It could be a sneaky assassin waiting for the perfect opportunity to open the door, or maybe it's the spawn of satan, or it could be just some innocent people. Arguably that's worse, who knows what tricks a startled man may pull off.
"Your right, maybe this isn't such a good idea"
Malcolm decides to leave the door and go rest
-
If everyone is agreed upon resting, then choose a room to rest in and specify for how long, and what you will be doing during that resting phase.
-
The room with the sentinel.
(What do you mean what we will be doing? I though resting meant we just sat there and took a nap, waiting for our energy to come back?)
-
"Hmm... I wonder how much that this carpet could fetch at market... Anyways, you better take a rest Gilbert. We don't need you falling down here."
(I am for resting. But! I had meant to investigate, rather than simply look at the carpet.)
-
"You know, I always wondered where the undead warrior came from. It seemed like he just appeared out of nowhere although that's impossible. But then again, I guess so are undead. Still I have a small hunch"
Malcolm decides to rest in the very first entrance(as in the room with the pillars) and begin searching for secret doors. After that, attempt to break down 2 of the tables into planks from the room where the undead warrior corpse is in.
-
I'd like to leave the dungeon and sell my loot if possible.
-
Gilbert rests (right where he is), and if possible, mend the heater shield.
-
The room with the sentinel.
(What do you mean what we will be doing? I though resting meant we just sat there and took a nap, waiting for our energy to come back?)
If you're going to sleep, then say that, but resting phase can also be used for crafting, knacks, skills, training, etc.
You guys also need to decide how long resting phase will last.
-
I vote long enough to get Gilbert back on his feet, then retreat to town, divvy loot and sell the rest.

+1 to the plan except the bit where we divide the loot. I'm not sharing my loot.
-
>:c
-
Gilbert is still on his feet, just vulnerable. I would rule that traveling back to the nearest village would take 4 hours each way. However, you would get better prices at the town 12 hours away (not including time spent resting). You need to sleep for 8 hours to level up and gain any health. Sleeping outside the dungeon would eliminate the risk of exposure from sleeping in the cold without a blanket or fire.
Additionally, for each 8 hours in resting phase you need to have something to eat and you need something to drink for each 5.5 hours.
Gilbert, you don't have the resources or tools necessary to repair the shield.
You can all individually decide how long you will spend doing what and where. You can choose to forego eating or drinking if you have nothing to do so and no way to procure it but this could prove a problem later on.
-
We might as well just leave and call it a day, guys. When we come back we need to bring sleeping bags and shit.
-
Okay, so what I understand is: I perform my investigations, we travel to 4 hour village, We sell our loot, then we buy some stuff (mostly sleeping bags). I personally want to sell my arming sword and shortsword and scythe and try to see if I can buy an average Falchion.
-
I'd rather we sell the loot in the town.
-
It would take us 24 hours to get there and back again. and then add another minimum 8 hours of rest. That means we took a 32 hour break.
With the village, it's only a 16 hour break.
-
Whatever we sell, I say we team lift the carpet and sell it as well. That ought to fetch a good price in the larger town, but I'm also completely fine with visiting the Village as well to sell it.
The only question is... What do we need to buy? If we can't think of anything we need, I don't think it's such a good idea yet.
-
We need to buy sleeping bags and food, maybe shields and armor (you could use some better arrows). I only bought enough food for a single day. +1 to the rug idea by the way. That should be classified as art.
-
The rug weighs 5 units.
-
Malcolm politely offers to assist Helena with carrying the rug

Hordor assists as well, if his help is still needed.
We also need to buy bandages, or at the very least cloth.
GM: Is it possible for me to make my own character once we hit the town?
-
Sure, if you want. You can start at the same XP as Hordor, but you won't have any of the loot or money he picked up, just what a level 4 character would start with.
-
Actually, I'll hold off on that. I'll make a new character once exams are over. (I'll still play as Hordor in the meantime, though.)
-
Helena accepts the assistance gratefully!
-
So, you guys are going to go to the town, sell and buy some things, and then sleep for 8 hours before returning?
-
Yes, preferably I would want to browse the town's ware rather than have the GM auto it though. Also I don't think we ever reached a consensus on whether to go for 12 hour town, or 4 hour village.
-
No you did not, that's why I asked.
-
I'm going to go vote for 12 hour town. The extra money we save might be useful in buying a shield or something like that.

Might as well. I doubt the other team has gone much farther than we have.
-
Gilbert has gotta get up and get moving to the 12 hour town (since they won't be carrying the rug with him on it)
-
Alphonse will help carry the rug if he gets a share of the profit from selling it.
-
Helena does not Alphonse help with the rug. :P
With three people on it, it really shouldn't be too hard to take back. It's a quirky thing to take, but a minor nobleman or wealthy merchant might be interested in it due to the mystique about it.
-
Ok, you guys will be in rest mode until Paralun has rested for 33 hours or more (24 travel + 8 sleeping + 1 shopping), assuming that you don't want to use any of your skills, after which you will be able to sell your goods, buy new stuff, whatever, and then start back in the dungeon. You will need to eat 4 times and drink 6 times. A full day's worth of water in your canteens is worth 5 times, so you can drink from it 4 times before you leave town, and then refill it there, and drink from it 2 more times on the way back. You will also need to find enough meals for all of you to eat on the way to the town, before resting, after resting, and on the way back to the dungeon. You can forgo either eating or drinking to any degree you like but it will contribute towards starvation and dehydration.
Additionally, those of you who have gained a level (which should be everyone), will be able to spend it after the break. You've got plenty of time to think about it and come to a decision, most likely. Good luck!
-
So....what do we actually do now? Maybe give us an example action?
-
Nothing. You can't do anything until Paralun frees you. I recommend that you still post in the thread, though, since otherwise the other team will figure out you're in rest phase.
-
But we're in rest mode too, aren't we? Can't we go to the town and sell stuff?
-
There's no "too" about it; you're in rest mode, Paralun isn't, you have to wait for them to catch up to you. The turns they're taking are measured in seconds, whereas your mode is measured in hours. You're free to roleplay if you like, but you won't be able to do anything until you come back, which will only be after Paralun has rested for 33 hours or more.
-
I think what Andres means is that while we're resting we can RP at a town and buy stuff and then when Paralun rests, what we Rped can then retroactively happen.
-

Yes. This.
-
Perhaps I should have Helena visit her Dad. Assuming he lives anywhere near here.
-

Yes, you can, but I won't be able to give you prices until we're ready to play again. You can do all the RP you like, sort out what you're going to do ahead of time, but the numbers will come later.
