What is the best embark options using only the basic worldgen?
-
Depends where you embark presumably. Basic worldgen is just as capable of making husk invested horrific wastelands and evil glaciers as any other kind of worldgen.
-
What do you mean by "best embark options"? I'm guessing the best options for generating a world?
That depends on what you want to have in your world. Some people like lots of minerals for example so they increase the mineral slider, other people want minerals to be rare, it depends on the persons taste.

Lately, I like starting with pocket worlds with micro-embarks like 1x1 or 2x1, high savagery, lots of metals of all kinds, soil, and either a river or an aquifer. The only real negative of the micro-embark is either there's only a 25-50% chance of adamantine.
I also like absurd cliff faces if I can get them, though without embark everywhere or some other mod, you need at least a 2x1 embark to get those. Does anyone know why you can't embark on just mountain tiles? How is that dwarfy?

I've wondered the same thing. :)

I usually use the simple world gen and set history to short (I stop around 75-100 usually), sites to high, civs to either medium or high, savagry to low, and metals to frequent (leftover habit from an old version). It creates nice balanced worlds with plenty to do in both adventure and fort mode.
