What skills does depression affect?Your guess is as good as mine, though from her current skillset I'd assume -1 Royal Demeanor and Athletics, -2 Conversation, and +1 Expression and Animal Handling.
Gave this game a shot even though I'm typically not a fan of VN's/Anime art styles, but it was pretty fun. Although seriously, prepare to die many, many times because of a single, seemingly unimportant skill you figured would be a waste of time to train. That's a relief. I was afraid we'd die twice and then win.
Wait, let's get our priorities straight. Do we want to stay alive? Because if we want to stay alive, it kind of limits our choices a fair bit.If I'd wanted us to live I probably wouldn't have made a point of playing this game completely blind.
Ahhh Anime mental health at work.Hello new sig!
In that... people's sanity is as safely secured as a dog next to an open jar of peanut butter.

Or suggested we name each iteration so we can keep track of them.
You fool! We should have kept Elodie depressed to maximize skill gains! You ruined our plans forever! *grumble grumble*
Anyways, might as well go with flexibility and dance until we can scare the shit out of a 14 year old girl and mixmax the hell out of the game!
((If you can't tell, I am joking. Still voting for flexibility and dance though.))
Hey, now! Depression only increased certain skills. I'm sure if we can get the Disgusted - Nirvana axes aligned at -0.6, we'll have a +3.00 to Found New Religion. Ron Hubbard all the way bro's!

I also had the most horrible Idea a cross over between this game and Candy Crush Saga called Expandable Princess where you start with a Anime Princess and the goal is to get her as Fat as possible...You don't want to go down that path. On it lays parts of the internet no sane human would wish to have seen.

No, not at you. At your... feet?...calm down Lodie.
"Princess, don't move!"
And on that note, i vote princess 2 be named Belladonna.HA! Joke's on you, Axespendable's still alive!
Talk to papa. Dude actually seems somewhat concerned for us, and probably needs to know about an assassination attempt regardless. Plus I don't think he has anything to gain by offing us. Probably.
Why isn't there an option for self study? I mean I'm a lazy shit but if I was almost ASSASSINATED I might, you know, take some self defence practice or something. :PShe'd burn out, man! You can't just study all day every day and expect to keep your edge.
E: We should totes make it a goal to try and set the dude up for a rebound with our pet witch, at least once we've learned her ways and can prevent any unfortunate replacement heirs from appearing. He's already confirmed to like witches, so I figure, why not?I'm liking this plan.
Let's put it this way if the princess dies with no designated heir, the crown will most likely fall upon her father by default.Actually, according to the blurb-things his brother-in-law is next in line, with Lady Merva the Snakebit after him. Presumably the crown has to pass by blood, not just marriage.
And on that note, i vote princess 2 be named Belladonna.HA! Joke's on you, Axespendable's still alive!
No, visit the tombs. Play it safe. And besides, Afraid is one of the better mood modifiers (although Pressured is my favourite).Personally I'm a big fan of yielding.

Also, awesome game, I've sunk well over 10 hours into it and like 30 or so attempts and have so far only managed to complete the game once (around attempt 17). Even after the game's done the first time it still has a fair bit of replayability, and I've yet to uncover all the different story paths yet.
Divination and reflexes. Being able to see the future and dodge sounds like an excellent way to avoid getting stabbed to death.
Personally I think that we should visit the dungeons to change our mood from Afraid to Willful and see what skill bonuses we get. *shrug*Sure, let's do that.
Is it possible to take the same class twice in one week?Yes. Note that due to proximity bonus gains, and the fact that they're not calculated until the following week, it's slightly less efficient the closer two classes are to each other.
I just realized, her last name should have been Kerman all along. It would fit perfectly.Let's not be too fatalistic...
But yeah, carry on.
Something sparkly will make me feel better.Heh. I like this kid's style.
Wait. Kids shouldn't play with dangerous toys.

Lets just say the Princess has the survival instincts of a TRUE WIZARD.
'Drastic Action' sounds like we might not have a castle afterwards, so go find a cardboard box and get to sneaking.
Strategy Because we need a plan.

Polearms and poisons, because by billhook or by crook Axespendable I's getting in there.

Since we have zero in climbing, I'm guessing that climbing up won't end well for us.
Climb up, though if you posted out stats that would be useful. The problem with this is that I don't have access to the stats except when we're deciding classes, and they haven't changed since the last time I posted them except for what we gained in the classes I also posted.

There is no Duchess.
...There is no Duchess.
"Visit Juliana, Duchess Ursul."
Unless Duchess is her name or something, yes there is.
...I actually remember reading the comments and going "Oh, so we can't visit these two people." I guess I read it, then reread the map to see where to go and forgot about the comments....There is no Duchess.
"Visit Juliana, Duchess Ursul."
Unless Duchess is her name or something, yes there is.
Perhaps because I'm accustomed to getting my information from the floorplan directly, it didn't really occur to me that people would ignore it and my commentary entirely and just look at the assembled tooltips. Thus, I didn't think there'd be any particular problem using a version with options not currently available, so long as I had the new option(s) highlighted on the floorplan as well.
That said, I also would have expected you to double-check more than one place when receiving contradictory information. As both the floorplan and my comments imply, neither visiting the Duchess nor visiting Father are available this time.

Willful should really give a bonus to presence, not a penalty.
Court Manners can't possibly hurt. That being said, Intrigue is one of the more useful skill subsets early on, so might as well work on that.
+Court Manners
+Internal Affairs
Didn't someone say that stats max at 50 or something? No skill in a group of three can advance past 50 until the other two are 25 or more.
Since I don't know, I'd suggest Reflexes and Military Strategy. At least we'd be able to beat any tests for those.
Study accounting is nice. Gets a nice outfit too.
Personally I find it fairly easy to establish a yielding attitude, the key is to alternate between going to court and playing in your room on weekends (both give yielding, and the cheerful/depressed and lonely/pressured bonuses cancel each other out, meaning you only modify your yielding/willful axis).Willful should really give a bonus to presence, not a penalty.Presence is a pain to train. The only mood that boost it is yielding, that is hard to get (and useless for anything else). Is one of the most useful
skills, though. And the dress is really nice.
A few skills in the game almost seem like they don't ever get bonuses.Every skill can get a bonus except economics (which strangely doesn't). Most of them only get bonuses in one specific mood though.
I only want us to go yielding until we can get the orb. Once we have !!Magic!!, we don't need to acquiesce to anyone anymore.
Yiedling has a few nasty forced decisions however, most notably that lolicon pervert. You have to reveal this.
Pressured is the way to go, in my opinion, with occasional rotations back to Yielding.
Those who carry sticks shall fall by those who carry bigger ones. Better not get too uppity.

Well, in all likelihood, whichever side we don't help will want to kill us, so we might as well take the option that includes crushing the other person's military might in one swoop :)
Wait, why are we forced to answer his call for aid? And more importantly, why isn't the king making this decision? I mean, we're not the queen yet.If you look a bit more into their setup you find that in truth your father wasn't really a king, but rather was just a king consort. This means that any bits of power he might have accumulated while king consort are immediately lost on the death of your mother, since they were simply held through her. At your mother's death he is immediately reduced from being a king consort back down to just being a normal baron, and any of the royal powers immediately descend upon the eldest living female heir, you.

Of course, in English the proper title would have been Prince Consort. There's no such thing as a King that's not ruling.According to wikipedia "king consort" is an alternative title to the more usual "prince consort". At this point it's only been officially used a few times in history but it does exist. (It's also one of the titles used in DF, which is probably why it came more readily to my mind).

Err... I think they need to be absurdly high, so that would have been a waste compared to doing a negative skill "BECAUSE WE NEED JUST ENOUGH FOR THIS SKILL CHECK."Do bear in mind that is intended to be a blind LP. Trying and failing for that could have been highly amusing.

Ye gods I just completely gave up an afternoon to this game. (10% Christmas discount for steam right now)
I'm all for attending court and teaching our little war monger to speak to nobility, courtmanners and such. You honestly can't expect to show up to a neighboring kingdoms land with army in tow without any proper declaration? It's just tacky. You gotta learn how to do things in style! I'm talking wreath of severed diplomats' heads with a properly calligraphic titled letter declaring war!
Anyway good game is good. It's certainly has a niche visual appeal but get beyond that and this game suddenly becomes a complicated strategic game. Every little choice you make always has the opportunity to bite you in the ass. Also skill checks are a bitch.

One minor observation (it's not really going to help that much, but still); some of the weekend events have variable effects. Attend Service, for example, acts to bring the first two mood categories (Anger/Afraid, Depression/Cheerful) back towards neutral by giving a -1 to them if they're the dominant mood... I think.I haven't been paying attention to this, so I can't say if it's accurate or not. Would explain why almost everything is +1 to something, whereas a handful of things are -1.

Parade and Speech.
I mean, what's the worst that could happen?
Speech! What's the worst that could happen?Slow, painful and debilitating death.
Also, humiliation.
Why do I have the foreboding feeling that the only speech being delivered any time soon will be our eulogy?Don't be silly. Your father's just being overconcerned. Certainly, he's probably just worried about losing his only daughter so soon after losing his wife, but it's not like we've made any prominent enemies, right? I mean, it's not like we thoroughly crushed one of our neighbours in a fair fight, accused a prominent and powerful local noble family of sullying their hands with the murder of the baseborn (even if they totally responded by slitting the throat of another one in court), nearly got the much-doted-upon daughter of another prominent local family killed trying to protect us because we couldn't hold still for five seconds, implicitly accused another prominent foreign noble of pedophilia...

Voting to dance with someone older. This is why I keep pushing for Intrigue! We are failing everything
Kind of agree. Never played the game, but it seems pretty clear that there aren't going to be many military challenges this early in. I suggest we focus on social and intellectual skills. Maybe do one training of reflexes once since it has a high bonus right now and is so close to 50, then refocus and train some skills that will obviously be useful. We're a Queen. Public speaking, foreign affairs, world history, courtly manners...skills like these might not be very exciting skills, but they're obviously going to be important, and we've been slacking on them.
Also, I wonder if maybe we're focusing too much on the lumen. It seems like it will take a lot of effort to get into the treasure and get the thing, and then once we have it we'd need to spend a lot of time training with it. I wonder if it might be better to simply skip magic and take a different path. We don't need to be Lizzy Shinkicker, and there seem to be plenty of other paths we can take.

Magic may not be mandatory, but there's PLENTY of reasons to keep after it! I mean, we're single-minded, we've already worked our hardest to fail at noble interactions, we've plunged the world into darkness with ignorance, and the assassins WILL come.
So, if we're going the socially awkward introvert who knows a little too much about weapons, wars, and gossip route, we may as well back it up and be a magical introvert rather than a normal one.

Haven't followed this closely but did you raise taxes or behead anyone lately?Raise taxes? Not as far as I'm aware.
The only noble plots we should care about are the ones which will result in our death, so Assassins it should be.As a counterpoint, the vast majority of assassins will probably be hired by pissed off nobles.
Bwahahaha!!!! I'm playing this game. It's awesome. I highly recommend it. :)
EDIT:
It's kind of unforgiving though.
For those who've played: I'm concerned that this is the sort of game where once you've played through a few times, you pretty much know what is going to happen. Is that true, or is there some randomness to the events to keep us guessing?
That's a reassuring analysis.

Train 2x Military strategy. Those bonuses are super-high. May as well take advantage of that.+1
Our bonus for weapons from mood is just as high as our bonus to military stuff
W-we just... wanted our...Sigging
Actually most of the people here explicitly wanted chaos and tragedy. So. Uh.
Is it? Looks to me like we have +2.42/day for military skills and only +1.32/day for weapon skills. I'm not sure whether those numbers are net values, or whether the category bonuses are added to them, but our physical bonus is only +.188 and our intellectual bonus is +.266. So, if those are added, we'd be getting +2.686/day for military skills vs only +1.508 for weapons.
From a sheer efficiency perspective, there is no numerical advantage to working on Military stuff right now over weapon stuff.
It doesn't look like it - going back through the updates (post-revelation), only looks like we've ever received a +1 mood bonus at most.I believe a few moods give +2 to certain skills, but most of them are +1.
I believe a few moods give +2 to certain skills, but most of them are +1.If they exist, we don't seem to have gotten one yet.
Oppose SwordsOppose swords.
We need to break the cap before we can get any further in swords, and that means archery or polearms first. And if we put points into them FIRST then we get MORE points when we do swords.
If we do swords first, we end up being better at archery and polearms.

I cannot fathom why, considering Elodie is 14 and that boy is 12 :P
Yeah, but Elodie will be 16 when the boy is 14. Or 18-16. So yeah, not really a big deal.
Still fun to marry someone a bit younger, plus our children will inherit the crown and whatever lands that entails, our father's duchy (assuming we outlive him, heh), and now our husband's duchy. So more consolidation of power. Plus, the boy is already used to taking orders from others, so he won't have any trouble obeying his Two Year Older Queen-Wife totally and completely.

why do people want to go to court?
Come on folks, justify!
Last time I explained the reason for my vote, people who'd already voted to do it changed their vote to something else because this is a blind play and they didn't want to vote for things that had reasons.
I propose we explore the castle.
For instance, "by leveling our mood down to as close to neutral as possible, we can more efficiently adjust our mood to apply the bonus to whatever skills we want at that moment." The big crisis points right now are Anger and Willful; either the Tomb or Court will help with that.Last time I explained the reason for my vote, people who'd already voted to do it changed their vote to something else because this is a blind play and they didn't want to vote for things that had reasons.
I propose we explore the castle.
You can have a reason for doing things other than "I didn't feel like staying true to the spirit of a blind play". Provide an actual argument for why people should vote the same way that isn't "because I looked ahead".
I must admit some confusion as to why we keep going for magic. We already have the dress, and a fairly competent amount of power in that area.We don't have much of a bonus to Polearms. YOU NON-MINMAXER.
Wouldn't it have been better to go for a different mood, so as to perhaps find what increases our Faith or something...?
Regardless, I am going to go with Polearms 2x. Let's see about covering some of our weaker areas.
You know what I just realized? Even if you sneak out EVERY SINGLE TIME during the game, your dad never finds out/gets mad.We never see him finding out or getting mad, just like we never explicitly see him being happy that we're attending court. Doesn't mean it's not happening, just means what's he gonna do about it? :P
Goes to show how much HE cares :P

Actually double votes are counted twice for that category, if I recall right. So its a bit useful to use if you really just want some skill trained, even if just once, as it gives you two votes for it.In that case...
Besides, am I the only one that thinks the divination could have been "If you don't go, your kingdom is doomed"?
I think the idea of this being a an entirely blind LP went out the window a long time ago. I won't dance around the subject, as I believe based on the tiny things I know now, life and death stuff happens here. I don't know the exact context. I don't know what skills are all involved. But, if we do survive I can actually post in a manner where I haven't been spoiled.I'm pretty sure that this is meant to be a blind LP. There was even another thread created, for the sole purpose of removing spoilers from this one.
Regardless, I would be ashamed of myself if I influenced the vote here. I shall see what happens and silently cross my fingers that people don't get little axspendable killed. ^.^Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Question: Why does a vote for "Internal Affairs and Sense Magic" count for one vote for internal affairds plus one vote for sense magic, which is two votes, but a vote for "Reflexes + reflexes" counts as only one vote for reflexes which is only one vote?It shouldn't. Either I counted wrong or they edited after I'd already counted it.
IronyOwl: Can we get an update on the spoiler status of this LP? Maybe a poll on whether spoilers should be allowed? Maybe include an option of "spoilers after we die X times" in addition to "yes" and "no".I guess we could do a poll or something.
I'd be interested in hearing everyone else's opinions, though.
I'd be interested in hearing everyone else's opinions, though.
I'd suggest maintaining the status quo until the first death, then open it up to spoilers. As complicated as some of the late-game conditionals are, I suspect that even with spoilers we're still unlikely to get a succesful win on our next attempt.
Ominous spoilered chatter implies something's going on, but I would think would be a good compromise between those who want to enjoy the game and haven't played it yet and those who want to enjoy the game and have.

We can totally get angry today, so SPORTS.
No, no. Let's focus on personality. We can't just magic and sword the birthday party into being a success.
Do we want to show up to a party angry? I mean, it's probably best that we don't :PIs anyone else at the party even going to be able to tell the difference at this point? Angry Elodie is pretty much Normal Elodie at this point. ^_^
Okay, so, looking back, angry gives us Weapons and Military, and weapons seems less useful than, say, reflexes. Of course it doesn't give any penalties either to anything useful, which is nice, but neither does willful.
So... better than willful, but not by much. Can we get anything else that might be even better? What do we need for agility or athletics?
No, NO. We shall not even give reason to let that HORRID, DESPICABLE outfit ever the the light of day AGAIN!
Also, the tutu may be useful for reflexes.
Fine then. Don the Party Tutu.

It will get us more cheery, less willful, and stave off the pressure bug!

Every time I say the name of this game in my head I don't say "Long live the Queen" I say "Expendable Princess".. And you know what?
It is probably the best possible name for the game.

Same here. I understand that it's called Long Live the Queen on an intellectual level, but whenever I think of it I refer to it as Expendable Princess.Honestly DANG this LPHue hue hue

I'm guilty of this as well. For pretty much the same reason as Neonivek. Plus I've only really heard about this game through the LP, so...
Shoulda told us there were fishmen hiding in there or something.
I don't say "Long live the Queen" I say "Expendable Princess"
I suggest we focus on history, internal and external affairs on our next playthrough, so we actually have an idea of what's been going on.But then we will die on the way to the party due to not having insane reflexes.

And divination too. Knowing stuff before it happens will be useful. Or more interesting, at least.
From my understanding Divination just tells you "BAD THING GONNA HAPPEN" which you pretty much already know since THERE WAS A DIVINATION CHECK.I suggest we focus on history, internal and external affairs on our next playthrough, so we actually have an idea of what's been going on.
And divination too. Knowing stuff before it happens will be useful. Or more interesting, at least.
Sort of. History has yet to open up an option, yet Divination actually does seem to do something.
Success at Diviniation check often gives an option to somehow bypass the 'bad thing' though. So it has it's uses!Or at least gives us enough warning to hopefully get our act together to try to save ourselves. :P Plus, magic bonuses for it!
People really have no idea what they want to do on the weekends, do they?
We're all about the military, so I suggest the Guard-en
Double trouble on Foreign Intelligence!

This is new. I never went down the civil war route. All your fumbling around the noble court and military strategy are finally paying off.Dude. Blind LP. No discussing spoilers. ::)
Don't pardon. This is civil war, so we'd be letting criminals loot our own land.This. I'm all for pissing off the nobles, but I think we should ensure the peasants like us. It might not sound like it, but not pardoning the peasant criminals is probably the best way to keep from pissing off our army fodder.
This. I'm all for pissing off the nobles, but I think we should ensure the peasants like us. Let the criminals be fodder for our army.
You mistake my meaning! The peasants are fodder for our army, in that their drafting feeds our ranks. If we pardon the criminals, it's likely that they'll do a lot of looting, thereby pissing off the peasants we like drafting, and they might then decide it'd be better to do things like become bandits that assassinate rulers or something.This. My vote is to NOT pardon the criminals.
Dungeons. Let's get Elodie in proper combative mood :PThis. Let's get her all riled up and ready for war. NO SURRENDER, NO RESPITE, NO MERCY!
Dungeons. Let's get Elodie in proper combative mood :P
It's funny how every place says + Whatever, while the Barracks says - 1 Willful, and Attend Service - 1 Angry. It is clever and quite helpful, since those will help neutralize our mood without going over to the opposite extreme.
I just noticed that.
Actually, have you considered than 100 in strategy may not mean "We're the reincarnation on Sun Tzu and Gengis Khan ine ONE BODY!!", but "We're as good as a 15-year old that never served or saw a battlefield and couldn't tell a gun from a sword 7 months ago is going to get"? We're not Napoleon, we're a teen that took Strategy 101.This might be a good point, but look at our Reflexes. At 80 we're apparently able to run a gauntlet of dodgeballs; Lumen is harder to quantify because MAGIC, but seems similarly impressive. Unless they're using wildly different scales, I would expect 100 Strategy to be fairly impressive.
And they might have real generals.
Plus, and perhaps more importantly, we're wearing a snazzy outfit and no helmet. We're clearly a hardcore boss.This.
Also, Visit the Barracks! Because inspiring the troops.
2 times Logistics We're going to need that bonus. IF we wanted the intrigue skills, maybe you lot should keep the willful bonus for once? :P
Logistics and Wield magicThis pony knows where it's at.
An army marches on its stomach. Strategy is nice, but lets have the skill to give them proper support.
And magic, because melting our enemies sounds fun.
Wield magic and Logistics
LogisticsX2+1
Logistics and Ciphering.+1
Logistics and Wield magicOf course, we just lost the mood bonus that gave bonuses to both, which means improving magic here would be best left until we got back into a willful mood. So doubling down on logistics would make the most of our angry mood right now.

If we wanted wizard powers, we'd have stayed willful! You say that like we're gaming our own emotions to promote effective study habits. I don't think we've mastered that degree of foresight. We're not even 15 years old yet!

Logistics and Polearms.
What would be REALLY nice would be to actually do logistics and military to bring those ip toa high base and then we wouldnt need the military outfit anymore and we could switch to the lumen one....Who in their right mind would ever voluntarily wear that thing?
Listen. When you're on a battlefield, soldiers dying all around you, the fate of your kingdom hanging in the balance, you'll wear whatever damn outfit gives you the combat edge you need to get the job done. Sometimes, you've just got to say, "This poofy skirt is the price I pay for my people's freedom."What would be REALLY nice would be to actually do logistics and military to bring those ip toa high base and then we wouldnt need the military outfit anymore and we could switch to the lumen one....Who in their right mind would ever voluntarily wear that thing?
WOULD YOU ALSO OBJECT TO FLOWER ARRANGING LESSONS TO SAVE THE KINGDOM?
I hope none of our opposition are wizzards though. :/Indeed. Having to deal with the Eighth Spell and worse, the Luggage might be too much for our entire army to bear.
If only they'd offered "leader of the armed forces and academy of battlemages" instead of "figurehead position"...We could just do that when we become queen thou. And who would respect us if we got our position by surrendering?
NO RETREAT, NO SURRENDER
Kill the Traitors!Personally, I'd settle for blinding and castration.
Visit Dungeons!
Or we can stay wilful/angry and max out our intrigue and weapon skills as well!
Honestly, we're going to be maxed out on magic skills soon. She needs to moderate her mood so she can learn other things!

Somebody really should sig this.
LB, See my post - we get a bigger boost if we change out of our outfit into the magical one and train military, don't we?
In this battle, but we currently have a huge military bonus, may as well explore our naval affairs while it is opportune.Naval strategy and polearms
We've already been told that our navy is useless.
We want to train polearms so that we can get more than 50 points into either of the other weapons skills.

Foreign Intelligence and Resist Magic.

This is great. Honestly at a loss for things to do now that the civil war is over. Now what is there for a war queen to do?Well, we've dealt with the domestic threat. But look - there are TWO skills related to to foreign threats (foreign affairs/foreign intelligence) and an unused military skill (naval).

Why do so many of you people hate making use of our goddamn bonuses!
We wanted to be a Lumen, we are now a goddamn Lumen - let's AT LEAST finish off our lumen training (and maybe our spy training) (both of which we have bonuses for and can train very quickly now!) before starting on random stuff, eh?
I can actually understand the polearm desire now (I just remembered we still haven't gotten that outfit! And nothing is more important than playing dressup!), but now is not the time to use that, Red! Come mood day, I will support people switching to a weapon-boosting mood, so long as we top off Lumen and Espionage whenever we are willful. Well, maybe not top off, but at least get the skills within one session of topping off (we seem to be having some time to prepare so far... Intrigue seems like the sort of thing we'd want topped off just-in-case, but Lumen we'd probably be good with one skill topped off and the others just short)
Except Internal Affairs. We just killed off all of our internal problems and made everyone fear our utter badassery. I think we'll be good there.
Resist Magic and Foreign Affairs
Employment sounds simple enough, but what if we hire a spy?A spy trying to win a tournament to gain the royalty's trust seems a little bit too contrived, so yeah Employment
No spoils! To be fair, precisely zero intrigue skills would have helped us at that point. Dogs, Production + Trade, Court Manners, and Poison were the checks made immediately before the chocolates.
Also, take that the whole "We killed all the internal threat, we don't need intrigue skills" crowd! You killed Axpendable!
Alternately, we should try to become a proper queen with decorum and court manners and flattery and ah, who am I kidding? We should just be glad we didn't throw Duchess Ursul in prison just so we'd have someone to gloat at. ^_^
I think our main problem seems to have been we took TOO LONG to become an awesome magespy. If we had just started killing people significantly earlier, I think we would have been fine!Clearly if something went wrong, it's because we weren't killing enough people quickly enough to stop it.
So next run, I think we should focus on killing people as quickly and effectively as possible.
This is the stupidest death.
I would imagine that we could probably have dodged the poison by finding out who was going to send them/taking other intrigue steps early in the story to deal with it.Also, take that the whole "We killed all the internal threat, we don't need intrigue skills" crowd! ...That was dumb. It's worse than that, it was literally sent from (allegedly) a trading company.
To the player, the chocolate is obviously poison, you should at least have the option to not eat it, which would offend that duchy or somesuch.
Ah well.
I'm nearly certain that you can't avert the poisoned chocolates ahead of time. I'm nearly certain that you can't avert the poisoned chocolates ahead of time. Either you have one of the skills that tips you off, you have poison training, or you die.The wiki says "Chocolates arrive (if you haven't eliminated /co-opted the sender):" so it's at least possible to be done (though I've never found the way to myself).

That said my vote goes towards allowing anything we've already discovered outside of spoilers, after all someone could always just dig through the thread for past playthroughs.Oh, yes. I had assumed that anything discovered in this very thread would be free and open game, though if we're doing a multi-selection poll I might as well throw that in as an option.

Elodie, why the actual fuck would you eat chocolates from a guy who murdered someone and left them in your living room?

We should probably make the in-spoiler text rule "heavy insinuations" given that more people voted for limits on spoilers. Given the closeness, it sort of makes sense to err on the side of the least spoilers.Mmm. This is true, though we're not sure which way some people would have leaned. Some of the "heavy implications" crowd might have chosen no restrictions given the choice between that and light insinuations.
Yeah, I'd suggest that straight spoilers ("X will happen in Week Y if we do Z", as opposed to heavy implications) are okay within tags, but should be marked as such in the tags.Marked how? Some sort of "Heavy Spoilers" or "Specific Spoilers" label?

We know dogs stops chocolate poisoning. We also know that there are a bunch of other skillchecks involved with the chocolates. We also also know that there are a ton of other skillchecks we've failed, including plenty of ones for the same skills as those associated with the chocolates checks. Skillchecks that are successfully completed obviously give access to parts of the plot which aren't readily available and are secondary to the central plot/motivation of "don't fuck up, live 'til 15"--aka subplots. Skills that could get us access to more of the story are more interesting than what is basically a one-shot skill, for obvious reasons. Literally everything there is derived from what we know.A lot of the more useful ways are also more interesting, because they involve digging up subplots. The way you phrased this sounds like a spoiler to me.

How in the world is her being locked up gonna affect the snake scene now? Do we even need the composure now?
Hmmm, I was going to put it in an edit at first, but did we ever explain how mood works? Because most of it is in the OP, but one particular important bit isn't.What happens if her mood is completely neutral?
Composure x2!
Why are you guys going for composure again?
Also, we don't know what event is coming up. We just expressly guaranteed the previous event WON'T be happening again by throwing the witch in jail - she was the one who warned us about the snake and how we shouldn't move, remember?
A thought: why does the magician woman need to swordify the snake when we learning how to cause Apocolypse Melodie within a couple of weeks? she could at least use one of the energy disk things.Maybe she isn't good at placing her AoE spells. So we won expandable princess?
I also had the most horrible Idea a cross over between this game and Candy Crush Saga called Expandable Princess where you start with a Anime Princess and the goal is to get her as Fat as possible...You don't want to go down that path. On it lays parts of the internet no sane human would wish to have seen.
I do remember a game from... oh about 3 years ago that was about trying to capture the enemy princess, the way to prevent that was cake, lots and lots of cake. It was like capture the flag.

We have a necklace to refuse this week, and I would prefer that to be presence or elegance, since we tend to have faith boosts more often, if anyone else is willing to back me on either of those.
Why Lore, though? We have a Foreign Affairs check coming up that same day (admittedly to only not look dumb in front of a servant) but I didn't see Lore in the next three weeks.
I would much rather we do presence instead of lore, now that I've got the majority of support at least going to SOMETHING with a bonus. We're supposed to be trying to be queenly this run, right?

Capitalist Princess > Hat PrincessRegardless of what we focus on this week we will still probably want to unlock the dress on week 8 at the latest though. Elegance and Presence for new hats.

Since the tie, we've got two taunt votes, two listen votes, two mutual negation votes, and two GM whim votes, which will hopefully negate one another as well. Just as an update for those of you who, like me, find this deadlock hilarious for no adequately explained reason.

We need to all vote refuse and get this magical biatch executed as quickly as possible.Au contraire. As future Queen we need to ensure that all the evil monstrosities are in our service, learn from them, surpass them, and dispose of them when they fail us in some trivial way.

I feel like we should visit the Duchess again if we give the land to her brother. Y'know, just in case it turns out he's actually evil or something.Isn't he the father of the girl that kept pestering us via letters in the last run?
I feel like we should visit the Duchess again if we give the land to her brother. Y'know, just in case it turns out he's actually evil or something.Oh, heavens, how could you possibly suspect him of such a thing? That smirk, that fancy yet obscure Latin name that definitely doesn't mean burnination, truly these are the signs of an honest man.
Or listen to Toaster's mad ramblings and cast her into the fires.
The game really wants us to free the witch, don't they?
Give him his own Duchy.
Give Ignatius the duchy. Cast Negadie into the fire. Switch to MAXIMUM PRINCESS.You rang?
I dunno. He's already married to a duchess. Letting your dukes consolidate sucks in CK2, presumably it sucks here too. I bet the witch is pretty angry at us, though...He's the Duke Consort (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Prince_consort), he consolidates nothing. He's got no titles of his own.
Ah screw it, give it to him, for the lulz.

Can we claim them as crown lands? I'm not sure of the source rule on that. Does the royal family even have any sub-titles in this lore?

Perfectly balanced is bad. Just balanced enough that we can change relatively quickly is good.No. No it isn't. "Just balanced enough" means every random event will decide our mood for us, instead of us. We should decide what we actually want to study, and then make sure we aren't going to slip out of the mood that boosts it at the first opportunity. Catering to the mass's complete lack of ability to remember what we were supposed to be doing by trying to stay in the middle only exacerbates our problems.
only exacerbates our problems. That's a weird way to spell "makes the LP more entertaining when we somehow stagger victoryward anyway".
Also, remember to put the new dress.!!!
+1 whatever GlyphGryph says.
Except that events happen before we decide our mood-altering activities here, which means that we can decide to either keep the changes made by the events or reverse them. Still, I don't mind if you want to push Yielding up even more; just bear in mind that it won't be easy to reverse the other changes that you're making in the process.Perfectly balanced is bad. What have you people done?!We have the technology. We can make her better than she was. Better...stronger...funkier.
Also, small gripe, why kill the small child when you can kill the soldiers who are in the process of killing you and the small child would be an excellent hostage and might(aside from a small case of bloodlust) be the nations only chance at the magical monarch it needs? To be fair, who's to say she didn't? We were a bit distracted by our own imminent death, after all. Plus, we know she can blow pretty large holes in the walls of our castle with enough advance warning from our first run-through with the vault, so she probably doesn't really need a hostage to get out.

Looks like it's either war or a major diplomatic incident, because we sure as hell aren't giving up that province! We could always try going the other direction. I've never tried it personally (so don't think this is OOC knowledge or anything), but I wouldn't be surprised if we could win their country as an ally or something by giving it up without a big hassle.
