I want the ability to send one messenger dwarf that will journey that will travel to the closest Mountain Home to tell them not to send any more traders/migrants.
The dwarf would travel and then come back home if he does not die on the way.
It should be possible to send this dwarf like a liaison to the human and elf city's as well to tell them not to come.
The way i imagine this working is if your a in a bad situation and you don't want dead migrants coming to life in an evil biome to cause you more trouble, or you just want the starting 7 dwarfs to grow on their own.
I can see the User Interface for this as a selection of factions of who you want to send a message to. And then you select your message which would be like
Message:"The Dwarf home of Bodicebent is now declared a no go zone, come at your own risk"
or
Message:"The Dwarf home Bodicebent has been stricken with plague! come at your own risk"
Thanks for listening,
Necro.

An option to send more than one would be nice. More dwarves, better armor/weapons, and calmer land would increase odds. Three dwarves with iron axes and leather armor could rarely run into trouble in most conditions, but in a savage evil biome you might want to send a bunch or arm them very well.
Instead of selecting one or more dwarves just for this it could have you select a squad. Those are already set up to handle groups and equipment.
I assume this sort of thing is already planned anyway.

One issue is that the game uses population for certain events.
So should the game, if you refuse migrants, start adding to your pop count number in the case of events?
-
@Sfon I agree with the select squad idea.
@Neonivek I think that events should happen based on your wealth to cater for a small but strong forts that are avoiding goblins and things.
-
Why stop at just that? IMO it'd be awesome to send out your own liaisons (and maybe trade caravans!) to ask for stuff.
Send out your negotiator to broker a peace treaty, or send your intimidator out to demand offerings and gifts, or send your insulter to start a war. It'd be a neat noble position.

Yes. I agree this whole idea is starting to sound like a new Arc.
Arc Nobility/Politics

Traderoutes and trade maps (like those from bluebyte) would be awsome.
-
Being able to control immigration to your fort would be nice. I'm tired of killing migrants.
-
I guess the whole immigration/emigration will be revamped somewhere in the caravan arc.
It would be cool if unhappy dwarves would decide to emigrate themselves, that immigrants could be sent away. Unhappy citizens should be more inclined towards developing an intolerance towards immigrants and will beat them up or elect a mayor who promises to take care of the question by deportations and by stationing marksdwarves along the borders.

THIS IS DWARF FORTRESS!
Kill all the milker, bee keeper, cheese maker, soap maker, crap-which-we-don't-need keeper immigrants!
