Title: Dangerous Terrain?
Post by: lastofthelight on May 24, 2008, 08:05:00 pm
I keep getting messages announcing things like the cancellation of harvesting seeds, building floors or walls inside my fortress, or building my walls and traps outside of it due to dangerous terrain. But there isnt' any water or magma present. Or anything dangerous. Whats going on?

This might belong in bug reports.

However I'm getting this too, but inside of a barracks, where my soldiers will occasionally cancel sparring due to "dangerous terrain".

Every time I pause and look to where they are, they seem to be in the middle of the barracks (which is a simple square sealed room of sufficient size carved out of soil) with no obvious reason to be doing so. My only guess is the furniture is getting in the way, in my scenario. In yours, it sounds pretty vexing.

I had the same barracks cancellations, and was given a couple of suggestions. One, that 'bloody' tiles can trigger Dwarves to flee. I don't really believe this though, there's usually blood everywhere at my fort's entrances and it doesn't phase them at all.

The second theory was that if a sparring Dwarf is knocked onto a tile with some furniture that is not normally walkable, such as a statue or armour/weapon rack, it'll trigger the cancellation.

Sorry that doesn't help the OP much, though.
