Title: do coins have quality levels?
Post by: blinking icons on March 27, 2008, 10:48:00 am
I just started minting a few stacks to try it out and their value suggests they don't. So should i better wait producing some till the economy starts?

Don't make 'em anyway. Dwarves don't need coins to run the economy, and they'll just make an awful clutter if you do make them.

Every year they seem to have a different design.  You might want to try minting coins out of non precious metals, but make sure you lock the room when you are done looking at them.

Coins, coins everywhere.  Your dwarves will turn into Scrooge McDuck and go swimming in them.

Yes, right now they only grab coins to match their "Invisible Bank Accounts".
If there was price changes based on the availability of coins, and dwarves didn't get paid at all if something solid didn't enter their hands, it'd be different, but as it is dwarves can live without coins.

The only reason to mint coins at this time is for selling to traders and/or finding in Adventure mode and using to buy goods in adv. that way.

To answer your question, no coins don't ever have a quality rating. This makes them a terrible trade good, despite what the wiki used to say (which I notice has since been corrected).
