Title: construct buildings
Post by: utunnels on August 07, 2007, 02:39:00 am
Quite strange, some building tasks stay inactive, but dwarves with the Architecture job turned on still have no job. And I notice a peasant without Architecture ability will still build workshops.

Different buildings require different jobs in order to be built.  Type 'q' (I'm not sure if that's the right letter.) and highlight a building to see its status and it'll say something like, "Waiting for construction.  Requires Masonry/Trapper/Butcher/etc."  It'll say that second part if there are no dwarves with that job.  They don't all require architecture.

Architecture is kind of a separate job that only some buildings have in addition to and before the actual construction can begin.  First a dwarf completes an architect job on a building, and then a dwarf with the required job (such as masonry) completes it.  I haven't seen architect on a workshop.  I have seen it used for roads and the trading post and I think the bridge uses architect.

Thank you, that does make sense.
