ug. then instead of stoneworker, can i be a potter?
Happy to bold you Aseaheru! Stonework and mining may be a little boring as bolds can't dig through stone in this version. I may be able to find clay and they could do some adobe buildings though!
I think I remember bring able to trade for stone which may be a good early investment. There also is now ore in soil and turning used metal (like from invaders) info crude metal things.Preaching to the Choi, Cap.
It looks like this version has some interesting new touches!
Edit: Sometimes typing on a tablet is hard.
: Goddess of metals, minerals, jewelry, inspiration, and poetry." "?
Oh God... Fire... There was a problem for a while that kobolds abruptly would catch on fire sometimes when they came onto the map. I have no idea why, but it kept happening. Especially to merchants. It was the weirdest thing. It could be a mod material the has a high fixed temp, I seem to remember evaporating reaction stones doing things like that to caravans if they brought them.
Yeah, that actually isn't a mistake. For some reason the goddess of metals, minerals, jewelry, inspiration, and poetry doesn't seem to have a name. I'm thinking The Nameless Lady might be how I refer to her? It's likely a glitch, but I kind of like it.Yes it is nice, I just wondered if it was a typo.
Hey Splint!

Chucheedrin Plaguepoison: Goddess of silence and torture
Foseesus: Goddess of mercy and forgiveness

Chlombujrer Rapiddelights: Goddess of dance, festivals, music, song, valor, and war.
Slachraris Primmusic: Goddess of beauty
Buseelus Boarbearded: Goddess of plants and animals
no camp is complete without the great and powerful sheriffbold who shall lead his bolds into the most glorious of hiding spots...
can i be bolded as the sheriff male called HigginPaw if possible could he use a spear, and dig out his own den/jail to ensure the camp will always be faithful to Thlabifis.
@the poll, I like the Sort of journals that the Others make for their kobolds.
in pottery you collect clay in a bag, then processed it into something else. it can then be glazed somehow.
I vote all buildings be made from either clay bricks or raw clay. Because why we didn't think of that last time makes me feel stupid.Agreed.
Actually, clay itself is firesafe isn't it? A clay oven for firing bricks makes sense, since we're going sumerian here.Yes, but does Captain have any clay?
@Vgray, Taz from the previous fort really liked Sen, right? It's been a while since I've gone back and looked all of that stuff up.
There are paved roads and constructed floors. Neither one will grow anything if muddy.AFAIK, muddy constructed floors can be grown on if muddied, but roads count as buildings so they can't.
Man, sometimes you guys really remind me that I know way less about this game than I think I do. I'm slightly worried about trying to flood the top of the kobold huts once they are built simply because of how many ways it could go wrong. I'm picturing great floods of water filled with angry alligators suddenly in the middle of the camp.Creatures don't get pumped up pumps.
"Naturally occurring above ground plants won't appear on stone or constructed floors even if those tiles are covered in mud."I remember that either Putnam or Quiestus, I forget which, has said that muddied stone grows aboveground plants, so the wiki just might be wrong. It's happened before...
From the wiki. Things don't grow on muddy constructed floors.
I was just assuming since I've had grass grown on muddied wood floors but not roads. maybe I was just imagingin it though.Wood floors probably work like stone ones.
Kel has it right there. For now, I'm just working on getting together a single housing unit where all of the kobolds can cuddle up together. Eventually (once we have clay especially) it will be much easier to have kobolds live in individual houses, something that I think works best for married kobolds. After all, the little beasties need plenty of time to socialize in order to find their mates.Alligators were present before Toady did a huge animal update with procedurally generated giant and person versions, so they have no giant form.
We do indeed have cliffs and I could see it being interesting to set up that kind of a structure. Especially in terms of a temple to the Buseelus Boarbearded (Goddess of Plants and Animals). Of course, that is somewhat down the road.
Unfortunately, I didn't bring any cats or other hunting animals, so I don't think that I actually have any vermin remains. I do kind of think it doesn't make a lot of sense to use unbaked clay, though it would certainly make life quite a bit harder. The truth of the matter is that the eternal war against dwarves, elves, humans, and goblins should keep things difficult enough. Hell, there are alligators which I believe means we could get giant alligators. Speaking of which, if we kill a giant alligator, there will be celebrations that last for weeks.
Also, writing up the first post right now with pictures already taken.

Vermin remains should still be present - they appear when a kobold accidentally step over a vermin creature

I thought giant animals and animal people had their own raws? As opposed to being randomly generated during worldgen. That's for Titans Demons Etc.
ElfCollaborator is spooky... Perhaps Kalras will start finding this presence kicking around?
@Kriss, I understand that completely. I can barely play Dwarf Fortress anymore with how I have grown to love the little thieves.
@Taz, Haha! Alright! We have our first player-generated character trait for a God! Now canonically Buseelus has a sense of humor. Yes! Actually, this continued with ONLY flight-capable creatures after the otter. How can we get to the meat when our arms are so short?!
i like this plan! boid made valley, here we come!
Example: mine out underneath where ever a nice outcropping is. Build walls underneath it, channel out around it! Tadah! Veggie gardens ontop of the house!
Holy crap, Kel. Freaking Chills. Plaguepoison is scary as shit.Oh you don't worry about that. You know nanomage has been well educated in the art of trapping back at the Home Caves. Also he had stolen from a dwarven fortress a blueprint of a deadly minecart cannon. Once he arrives at Sruchlofisjlufruyus, we'll be safe!
@Nanomage, Well, yes and no. I added the butcher sentients ethic to kobolds because I think it makes sense. Kobolds deserve elf bone spears! Honestly, the shortages that will eventually kill kobolds are just about never food related. With regular hunting it's really not at all hard to keep a kobold camp fed. What eventually will kill would be the attacks. Think of how often civilian dwarves one-shot kobolds in regular forts. That is the danger.
Winterdirge made a deal with Kalras for a body to inhabit, and he knows of the kobolds, but they don't know of him.
Prison: Temple to Plaguepoison and Thlabifis
Barrack: Temple to Rapiddelights.
Deep Cavern: Temple to the Nameless one.
Farm Shrine: Built with the farms surrounding it. To Buseelus
"Hospital" Shrine to Foseesus
Main sleeping den: Shrine to Chobofrin (He'sShe's thegodgoddess of sleep. I don't seehimher as evil.)
Workshops: Temple to Primmusic
A shrine to Jrifunus in all Legendary quarters.
Jrodluthis gets a shrine at the river, to ensure a good, plentiful harvest.
I think that's the general plan. Well, that and using raw clay until we can keep bricks coming out constantly. I wonder if we can import kaolitinite for porcelien? No wait... I doubt bold have that reaction. Still, porcelien alters on brick temples would be awesome.
I think I'll download KC myself... Haven't played that since my last camp got burnt down a savage clusterfuck involving goblins, a necromancer, a firebreathing savanna titan and a last stand of "OH SHI-" ina community eating area.
That was a fun camp until the armorer got melted....
Can always build up. When you have the furnace going and the bricks made, theirs nothing stopping us from making a Babylonian style bold city with clay walls and brick built temples.
i want to download KC but i cant get into the file.Did you unzip it?
we can simply build them as solid structures with a nice one or two wide outside with ramps leading to the next level. Build on top of the walls, and continue.Sounds a lot like my plan.
Those instructions sounded better in my head.
Needs more seaweed and Clams for clothing. Still, pretty awesome.Fix'd.
Sure thing Joost! I'll add you to the very nice Migrant wave!Yup, and excellent!
@GreatWyrm, You're Drakruldus, right? I'm actually seeing I missed including you in this past one. Next one, I promise you make an appearance!
Diary Entry of Karak:Kobolds are hairless.
Strange smells, new home. Wife, pup, good. Soon see what can make with clay. Great wall yes. Start soon. Make Dwarves Jealous. Go for food now. Growing is a necessity, Teach Pup way of Clay moulding here. Roots in earth yes, Yes.
Below this is a drawing of a kobald with very fluffy hair that sticks up in tuffs with his wife and pup.
(http://i50.tinypic.com/30vn1aq.png)You forget to draw the mysterious dwarf shaped spirit floating above Winterdirge.
Not sure if this was what was in mind but I literally scribbled this in around 3-ish minutes. Enjoy.m I imagined for some reason, the slab carving to actually be a slab made from strung together ribs or something.
