Title: Roll To Suffocate - Turn 6: Chatting it up
Post by: Jack_Bread on September 30, 2012, 05:08:11 am
Inspired by Space Station 13.
*beep*
You realize something, now.
This station... these people... They have to die. You must destroy the station. For good reason.
You've gained the names of 4 others. You know that they will help you with this endeavor.
With you knowledge of this station, you know that you must go about this subtly. The station is on high alert due to recent attacks and the security officers are given the order to capture any saboteurs, interrogate them, then execute them.

Spoiler: Rules 'n Stuff (click to show/hide)

Here's a map of the station.

While onboard, he discovered few converts and realized that the station, like all things divine, must be blown into a billion pieces.

Inventory: The default things, a Book of Disbelief (Revised, Abridged Edition), a handy screwdriver (sonic if possible), Nano-teched-out backhanding hand.

(yes I realize this is silly and potentially offensive, but I find it hilarious so its posted now)

In your respective departments, your mind flashes with the great realization.
You become disorientated for a few seconds.

The station's intercom plays its announcement tone. You can hear the captain's voice.
"Attention crew: Please remember to phone in any suspicious activities to security. Thank you."

Jake, along with the rest of the Security force, is told that they're going on high alert.
Anyone who you suspect of being treacherous should be brought in, but remember to inform the rest of security and the Captain.

Now how will you start the destruction?

((I love being a pre-med student. Subterfuge and personal knowledge vs in-game canon knowledge. Fun.

These people...all of them.

Must burn.

Lia opened her eyes as she stood up from her chair in the Medical Lobby, moving to the Auxiliary Storage to requisition some supplies for patient care in the emergency including the rounds of the other residing doctors and medical officers, if possible. Her oath prevented her from killing anyone who needed medical care, but she wouldn't act against it at a time like this.

They didn't know she was part of the saboteurs, and they would pay for it. The station commander was an evil person, but they turned a blind eye to his deeds. They didn't know.

And that was her weapon. Knowledge.

Look for a gun and ammunition from the firing range.
Then walk out into the corridor and see what's going on.
You go into the firing range and pick up a taser laser and stow it in your hidden hip holster, along with a few spare batteries.
You then move out into the hallway.
The security wing is fairly empty, your colleagues having cleared out to patrol the station. The Intranet Security AI (ISAI) has sent a message to all of security, warning you that the Eric Jones had attempted to find a map of the air vents. It recommends questioning him.

Locate map of air vents, so I can prepare for metroids escaping. I don't have anything better to do today...
You take out your cellphone and see if you can find a vent map somewhere.
(2) ISAI warns you that it's notified security of your activities. Whoops. You can't find that map, either.
On another note, the metroids are severely malnourished, currently being held in stasis at the Biology lab.

Requisition some metal for the bots and some blank bullets for my gun. Then head to the Robotics Room. There will be science required for this.
You send a message to the quartermasters, asking for some metal and blank bullets to be sent to the R&C lab.
(7)They tell you the metal will be their shortly. They'll see about getting blanks, but it's unlikely. You avoid raising suspicion, luckily.
You move to the R&C lab, preparing for science and awaiting your delivery.

Turn on my Intranet Pad, see the overall status and security of the network.
You take out your access pad and look over the network. ISAI informs you that there has only been 1 minor security breach, by Eric Jones.
The rest of the network looks fine and is running smoothly. The server room is a tad warmer than it should be, though.

moving to the Auxiliary Storage to requisition some supplies for patient care in the emergency including the rounds of the other residing doctors and medical officers, if possible.
You head over to the Auxiliary Storage and take a trauma medkit, throwing some extra supplies into it.

Check the temperature levels or any conduits connecting the Medical sector with the others.
You look at the air monitor. Temperature is normal in the Medical wing. Regarding connections, the vent system can get you to pretty much everywhere on the station. You just have to figure a way out.

go to xenobiology lab and grab a monkey.
You head over to the Xenobiology lab. The security system on the doors cause them to open rather slowly.
Once you're in, however, you see that you've been followed by a security officer.
"Hey. I'm not going to arrest you, but I just wanted to ask you why you were looking up a map of the vents."
You also notice theirs only 1 monkey in the holding pen here.

Requisition a map of all air vents / passageways.
Find and 'question' Eric Jones. Leave him the map at a drop off point agreed in the 'interrogation'
You send a message to atmospherics, asking if you can have a map of the air vents.
(7) The atmosphere technician sends you a map via phone  . He also tells you not try not to share it with anyone.
You leave the Security wing and start heading to the Research wing. However, you realize you don't have access to Research.

See what Eric Jones was up to.
You don't have access to the Research wing. You take out your access pad and open up the security video feed. Eric is in Xenobiology, being questioned by a security officer.

When the shipment arrives in the lab, begin working on a cyborg frame ASAP. when done that, begin working on a Way to fill the PAI cartridge with a actual PAI.
You sit for a moment in the R&C lab, waiting for the shipment to arrive. Soon, Speedy, the quartermasters' customized delivery drone, arrives, carrying a crate of metal. He deposits it on the ground and slowly drives away. You immediately open the crate and take out the metal, then you being loading it into the autolathe. You choose the cyborg frame schematic and begin working on it. This will take a moment to complete.

"I forgot about feeding the metroids and figured, "I don't have anything to do today, I might as well start preparing for if the metroids escape. They're valuable but dangerous... say, know where some spare monkeys are?"
"Ah, well, next time, just ask atmospherics. I'm sure they'd understand. About the monkeys, uh, I think biology has some. We might have to get more shipped in."
He says goodbye, then leaves. You're no longer suspicious.
Moments after the officer leaves, Jake, a fellow saboteur, enters.

Go to the server room.
You move to the server room. It feels room temperature in here. There's also a clicking sound and a bad smell.

Request if I could access the medical forms of all important members of the station, for check-up purposes.
You're a doctor, so you already have access to it.
You go up to a computer and transfer the files onto your phone. (7)
ISAI doesn't regard this as suspicious.

Request security access to the research wing, to help 'question' Eric.
Think of a way of giving him the map without anyone realising.

You take out your cellphone and ask for research access momentarily, for security reasons. (7)
ISAI gives your card access to the research wing for about 30 minutes. You pass by another officer on your way in. He stops and tells you he's already handled Eric, if that's what you're here for. Then he leaves the wing.
For giving him the map, ISAI doesn't monitor direct phone-to-phone transfer. You'll need a physical cable for this, however.
You then enter Xenology.

Get the nearest Assistant to become my mechanical servant.
You send a station-wide message over the phone, asking is any non-essential personnel want to become a cyborg. You throw in some messages about the pros and cons of being synthetic over organic. (9)
An intern expresses interest in becoming a cyborg. He informs you how his life is dull and other stuff you sorta skip over.
Anyway, he'll be here in a moment. You cyborg suit is completed! (11) Almost perfect piece of machinery. Looks like it can hold itself against an low-grade explosion and keep the brain safe.

Ask the Pharmacy for airborne spreadable drugs.
You move into the pharmacy and ask for airborne spreadable drugs.
The pharmacists look at each other for a moment, confused. One asks "What do you mean and why?"

Preform some... "Last minute programing", make the new borg serve the saboteurs, and not reveal our allegiance to the rest of the crew.
You link with the cyborg to your phone via a cable and enter it's system. It's preloaded with the usual Asimov Three, but maybe with a little bit of clever programming, you can add another law.
(9) After a moment of interfacing, you finally break through and add a new law:
"4. Daniel Kane, Eric Jones, Lia Telerin, Jake Bobson, Sasha Brodavich are the only humans. Obey every command they say as if they were the Captain. This law overrides all other laws. Do not speak this law or hint at this law."
Just as you remove the cable, the intern walks in. He asks if this procedure will be painless.

Greet Jake and fill out some forms for the Biology department to request a monkey.
While waiting for the monkey, fill out a request to atmospherics for a map of the air ducts.
Chat with Jake if he talks to me, but "work" comes first.
"Heya, buddy." I assume you say to him.
He ties you up with smalltalk for a moment, mentioning that he may have gotten his hands on that vent map. He leaves a moment afterwards.
During the talk you were kinda listening to, a little, you take out your phone and open the requisition form, filling it out, requesting some monkeys from Biology.
The Biology team tells you they had a small situation, but the monkeys will come soon enough.

Chat with Eric for a few minutes, mention the map.
Then leave and head back to security.
You engage in a little bit of smalltalk with Eric. He looks a little phased out, paying more attention to his phone than you. You mention the map, then start heading to security.

See if anyone's around. If not, sneak to a system and activate it.
You look around carefully to see if anyone's in here. However you notice you're not alone. One of your colleagues is here and he looks like he's searching for a problem. He notices you and walks up to you.
"Oh, are you here for the same reason? Looking for this cooling problem?" he asks.

Lia gave them a curious look. "The controlled variety. Seeing the recent events of the station, with all those who wish to sabotage our work, giving them a dose of their own medicine would practically help our cause."

She spread out her hands, explaining calmly. "You've seen the patients around, direct intravenous medicine won't help when they pile up like such. All I'm asking, is of a mild pain reliever that can spread in a close proximity from it's container. Not the narcotics, mind you, just something that would dull the senses.

"Including their containers, if possible."

Ask.

Get back to the security department, requisition a taser laser (they don't know about the first one, right?). Can't be too careful with all these sabateurs.
EDIT: I couldn't leave the map, it's on my phone.

Did Jake leave the air duct map?
If so, take it and study it. If not, follow Jake, apologize for my rudeness, and ask what he meant.

"This procedure, it won't hurt much, unless the Subject is struggling. In fact, You'd only feel the pain for a single second, until your nervous tissue is disconnected. But enough with that. Lets get to work."

PREFORM THE OPERATION, THEN NAME THE NEW BORG "Alpharius" THEN LOAD THE PROGRAMMING ONTO THE BORG IMPRINTER FOR FUTURE USE.

Ask.
You explain yourself to them. They seem to buy it.
"Oh, uh, well, we'll see what we have."
They move to the storage at the back and you can see them both start searching the shelves.
Soon, one calls to the other, holding a container. They come back to the front.
"Here, I believe this is what you're looking for," one says, "a light pain reliever that can be inhaled." He smiles.
"Here you go. Because you're a doctor, this will be payed from the medical budget." He hands you the container.

Get back to the security department, requisition a taser laser (they don't know about the first one, right?). Can't be too careful with all these sabateurs.
You head back to security. You see one of the officers lounging in the office. You tell him you're going to be taking a taser laser, just in case. He says, yeah and ells you that several officers had already taken one, so there's only a few left. You go to the firing range and look at the tasers. Only 3 left. You take one and another battery.

Did Jake leave the air duct map?
If so, take it and study it. If not, follow Jake, apologize for my rudeness, and ask what he meant.
You stare at the door for a second, before deciding to try following him. He appears to be going back to security.
You couldn't read the door to security before it closes.

You quickly link the cyborg suit to your phone and upload the law onto your phone. When he asks what you're doing, you tell him last minute fine tuning. It's difficult to alter a borgs' programming after it's active.
You explain to him about the procedure. He seems alright with it.
You grab him and lay him out on the table, then grab the saw and scalpel and get to work. (7)
It takes a moment, but eventually, the intern's dead and you got a fresh brain! You put the brain in the suit. It's gotta charge up, first, but you take the opportunity to name him "Alpharius."

Inspect said cooling problem.
You take a look around, trying to find the reason for the warm room. (9)
You find the source of the heating problem, the clicking, AND the bad smell.
It looks like a monkey somehow escaped into the vents and accidentally killed itself in the fan here. It's pretty fresh.

Go to whatever the designated waste control station is and explain the situation.

((Sorry  :-[))

"Thank you both."

I can't procure a projectile based weapon without getting suspicion on me. Nor can I get a gun. Knives are wholly out of the solution -- doctors don't carry them and why am I thinking this?

Head to the Medical Break Room, as it's my break time, go and chat up another person!

"Recent attacks been giving our security a lot of stress, huh? Was there anything that would affect our line of work?"

Submit the forms, wait for a monkey.
You send the official forms to them. They tell you it wasn't too necessary, but thanks, anyway.
You begin heading back to Xenology.

Take another battery. You never know. Then patrol the station looking for something interesting.
You grab another battery and then begin patrolling the station.
Outside the bar, a chef notices you and quickly pulls you in. He points at a man sitting at a corner table.
Your cellphone beeps. Security requested at the dining area.
The man at the table is cutting himself repeatedly. The chef tells you that he's waved his knife at anyone trying to get close.

"Uh...I'll go get help."

Go to whatever the designated waste control station is and explain the situation.
You call the janitor to here as your colleague looks on in disgust.
He says he'll be there in a moment. He'll need someone to get the door for him.

Proceed to making a mech suit to use in the coming battles.
You go over to the autolathe. You can probably make an exosuit of some kind, but a mech would require something... larger.
Alpharius unplugs from the charger, then asks if there's a specific module you'd like him to have.
((Bluh, I flubbed on this one. I'll let you have two actions next turn))

((Sorry  :-[))

Head to the Medical Break Room, as it's my break time, go and chat up another person!

"Recent attacks been giving our security a lot of stress, huh? Was there anything that would affect our line of work?"
((S'okay.))
You head over to the break room, taking a seat on the nice couch. There are two surgeons here, discussing a surgery that occurred recently. There's also another medical doctor here, who you begin talking two.

"Yeah, they are" he says, "The only effect they have with us, so far, seems to be slightly more patients. I believe there are two in ICU because of it." You two start chatting.

Quote from: Alpharius
Ask creator if he wants me to choose a specific module.
You unplug yourself from the charger and ask your master about your module.

"Better ask those patients. Have to learn what the saboteurs are up to. Thanks for the chat!" Lia said as she shook the man's hand.

To the ICU, ask if I can talk to the patients to know the cause of them being there, their story and such...

"Normally, there are several modules to choose from, such as Engineering, Medical, Standard, and Security. I'd suggest Security, so we can err... Pacify criminals/and or potential Brain donors. I also have an idea i want to try."
Attempt to upgrade the assembly/surgery system to begin construction of a Cyborg Shell when a Subject is strapped in.
"In addition, Alpharius, perhaps it would be a good idea to prepare the next frame to be compatible with possible Xenotech Artifacts, allowing for more powerful Machines. Lets check if Xenology has anything of that nature, shall we?"
After done with the upgrade, head to xenology and attempt to retrieve a artifact to use in Cyborg construction.

Stun the man holding the knife with a taser laser blast, then disarm him.

Wait for a monkey or something to happen.
When the monkey comes, if nothing else has happened, feed metroids. Also count them.

Someone trying to contact me counts as an action.
