Title: Endgame: Vaguely inspired by YOU AT FINAL BOSS. Back to the dungeon, except one
Post by: GreatWyrmGold on October 06, 2012, 07:46:35 pm
A slightly more serious take on the "fighting the Final Boss" than Spinal_Taper's ★Minimalist RTD★ (couldn't find the Masterwork symbol). It's fair to say that seriousness ended by the time the boss turned everyone into Magikarp. Join by posting a race, class, and inventory. I had too much stuff here for inventory, so you can get one artifact (a unique and very powerful magic item), two magic items of normal power, three normal items, and a backpack. Don't expect to wear two magical hats at once or something, but you might be able to loot some stuff off of somewhere...

That's all the rules I can think of. Have fun and good luck!

Oh, remember: You can try scrounging for items.

Just about anything you want. Just don't add more than you can carry or exceed the limits on magic items.
If you mean what you need to write, just write down what items you have (like sword, armor, wand...hell, forget it, I'll start over. Forget the overly complicated stuff, you get one artifact, two magic items, three other items, and a backpack.)

> Cast (Roar) Ultimate Fear on Final Boss in case it works
[4v5+1] Nope.

>Shoot Three Grenades!

That little spoilered recap is a good idea, maybe I'll request it from everyone.
[5,4-1,2-1 v. 4,6-1] The first deals [1+2+4*5] 35 damage to the Boss. He dodges the second, and the third lands at your feet, [2+1+1*5] dealing 25 damage to yourself.

BOSS TURN:
TFB casts Meteor Strike: [3,6,3,1] Two of the meteors are below-average, one is absurdly above-average, and one sets the room on fire rather than hurting people. [1+1+6+1+3*5; 2,3,4,5] The first meteor deals 60 damage to Unholy_Pariah, 45 damage to Greenstarfanatic, and 30 damage to everyone else. [3+1+3+4+5*10; 4,2,2,4,6] The second deals 160 damage to the party and 40 damage to TFB...the third one chars your corpses a bit...
I think I made the meteor swarm too hardcore. It will now only deal 4d6*5 damage. Everyone respawns.

Demoknight respawns, grabbing his Claimh and charges the boss with it, raising his shield defensively.

Well, I still think I should have mine back. It's just a holy sword. Does extra damage to dark beings. Half Zatoichi...Sucks. Seriously, it does. I wouldn't count it as any kind of magical item. You did ask us to have one quite powerful magical weapon, so I put something that would at least be considered 'Not Overpowered'.

As My corpse burned, it exploded.

Demoknight respawns, grabbing his Claimh and charges the boss with it, raising his shield defensively.
[4] It dealt 45 points of damage to the boss.
[1] While you do respawn, you accidentally raise your sword and charge with your shield. It deals [13*5] 65 points of damage to your skull. Whoops...

The Ranger fires explosive arrows at TFB.

Spoiler: Ranger (click to show/hide)
[1] Oh, wow, the dice hate you all. TFB sorta bats them back. The explosive arrows deal [1+5+4*5] 50 damage to you [4*5v2,1,5,3,5], 20 damage to Unholy_Pariah and Greenstarfanatic, and 10 damage to Objective.

Reap the benefit of respawn invincibility and charge at the boss then shrink and hide to retreat

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
[3] This game offers 1.5 seconds of respawn invincibility! [1] You charge into a wall. The wall deals [4+4*3] 24 damage to you and dazes you for this turn. [6-1] You shrink and hide in some corner.

gimme my mask back :D the revision is fine.. also my pyromancers staff so i can do fun explodey stuff.

Target his engines
The weird plant monster thing suddenly throws several fireballs at the bosses winged boots.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
[6] You fry TFB's boots and deal [3+3+1+6*10] 130 damage with an area spell dealing an element the boss is immune to. [v5,4,6,1,2] LordSlowpoke takes full damage, wait Objective is behind cover, Greenstarfanatic takes half damage, you are unaffected, and Doomblade187 dodges into TFB's fireplace for [1*5] 5 damage.

EQUIP RING OF DEFLECTION

BURST FIRE AT ELF DEMON

You put on the ring of deflection. [4] Holy Hand Grenade, you didn't horribly fail! The boss takes [3+5+3+1*5] 60 points of damage.

burp
[4] You belch. How rude.

Alright, let's see how much damage everyone's taken...
Unholy_Pariah: 20 damage
Greenstarfanatic: 150, dead
Doomblade187: 55 damage
Objective: 34 damage
LordSlowpoke: 100, dead
...You killed two out of your five party members, and another is about halfway there. All things considered, not too bad.

BOSS TURN:
TFB [5] casts Haste on himself. It's the old, 3rd edition haste that gives you extra actions...

Explode and respawn! Pick up my Claimh and try to get around the boss to attack it.
Oh, right. [12*5] 60 damage dealt to boss.
[6] You attack the boss, dealing [25*5] 125 damage but getting your sword stuck. Your hand hurts, too, for [2*1] two damage.

RESPAWN

SPECIAL ABILITY: COIN SHOT; AT TFB; 10GP

You respawn [2] with the Coin Shot ability. It's a 20-foot cone which costs 20 gp and deals 2d6*4 damage to those within if successful. [6] It is. Kinda. Everyone takes [4*4] 16 damage, except [2,2,1,3,1,4] TFB, who takes 8 damage, and Objective, who takes 10.

use mask to warp self into magical scyther, use fury swipes.
isn't that ring mine?
Which ring?
[5] You are a magical Scyther, by which I assume you mean the Pokemon because otherwise it would just be scythe. And not have fury swipes, [5] which deal [15*5] 75 damage to TFB.

Not bad. Only one of you injured the party.

BOSS TURN:
TFB casts Summon Goblin VII. [2] It fizzles as Greenstarfanatic uses TFB as a sheathe. Furious, TFB [2] fizzles another spell due to Unholy_Pariah...Wow, you REALLY didn't fail!

[3] You pull out some arrows coated in acid. It deals [13*2.5] 27 damage to TFB, plus [5*5] 25 acid damage.

SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM SPAM my grenades.
[4] You cover grenades with spam and throw them against TFB, dealing [(13-1)*5] 60 damage and leaving TFB smelling like Spam.

use guillotine on TFB aim for arteries.
the ring of deflection.
[2-1] Erm, you seem to have been Confused. [9*7] You deal 63 damage to yourself.

Come back to normal size. Make note to use the Diadem if TFB tries something powerful. Also use Battle Roar to buff everyone in the party.
[4] You are normal-sized. [6] Your battle roar makes the entire party deal 2d6 additional fire damage with their attacks due to being on fi...oops, that wasn't just the Battle Roar.

SEDUCE TFB

STEAL CLAIMH SOLAIS

[6v2] The final boss warps you to his type, which is (among other things) female and anatomically improbable. [3] You grab the sword, but your lover notices and takes it...badly.

i am magical golden magikarp

Magikarp uses hyper beam
[5] You sure are. [6-3] You fire off a paltry Hyper Beam, despite Magikarp not having Hyper Beam according to Bulbapedia. The boss takes [15*3] 45 damage, plus [7*5] 35 from you being on fire.

EVOLVE!

USE SPLASH!

IS IT SUPER EFFECTIVE!?
[4] Greenstarfanatic has evolved into Gyarados! [6] Greenstarfanatic uses Splash! It's super effective!... just not on the boss. Greenstarfanatic takes [5*2] 10 damage from scraping fins against hard rock, which is better than Splash usually is.

Run in from another room, yelling a Cuteboldian Warcry, and attempt to charge at the boss.
[6] You crash into a wall near TFB, [1] and impale yourself for [28*5] 140 damage, which is more than you have hit points...

COMBINE 2 HALF-ZATOICHIS INTO 1 FULL-ZATOICHI

EQUIP RESULT

[6] Hurrah! You have a Full-Zatoichi! It's twice the size of any other sword! Your fins can't hold it, though.

BOSS TURN:
TFB glances confused at the corpse, then shrugs. [4] With a wave of the Despoiler of Flesh, the dwarves transform into kobolds in ill-fitting armor, and with another [3] jetex's corpse shudders and begins to move.
Everyone takes [9*5] 45 fire damage.

I've decided that multiple complex actions will give penalties to subsequent actions.

USE THRASH, FOLLOWED BY HYPER BEAM! THEN EVOLVE BACK INTO DEMOKNIGHT AND RECLAIM SWORD.
[3] Thrash isn't very effective... it only deals [8*5] 40 damage. [5-1] Hyper Beam does better, dealing [10*5] 50 damage. [2-1] You evolve into... oh, what's something more useless than Magikarp? I know, you're a fluffy wambler!

PICK UP GOLD, FLOP TO LOCAL ALCHEMIST, BUY ALL THE POTIONS   Assuming picking up/equipping are free actions. If not, disregard the first.
You now have gold. [2] You flop around the dungeon level but can't find any potion shops.

Tell LordSlowpoke to hold ground and let the flying thing do its work.
SUMMON SHOPKEEPER

[Also maybe I should change my class to Beast Caster]
[4] A shopkeeper is summoned. He offers you candles and a lantern.

use fleshwarpers mask to grow a large impaling spike from forehead becoming magical golden seaking, use horn drill.
You don't have it, it's on your corpse. You pick up the mask and put it on. [4-1] Hurrying, you turn yourself into a magical golden Seaking and [3-2] fail to hit with Horn Drill.

Err... make a running leap, followed by a slash against the boss. Also, dodge any attack headed my way.
[5] You run and leap and slash. You deal [25*5] 125 damage to TFB and [6*5] 30 to yourself.

BOSS TURN:
The Final Boss decides to get more minions. He casts Summon Goblins VI, [3] summoning [2+5+5] 12 goblins. Then, after controlling them with his crown, he [2] fails to do anything.
jetex's corpse [5] smashes jetex. [21*5] jetex dies. Wow.

You grab your old stuff. [5v1] Yup, TFB flinches as you deal [16*5] 80 damage to him. [6-1] Hydro Pump is just as successful, dealing [20*5] 100 damage! Not bad for one turn. Or one guy, actually.

THREATEN TO EAT THE SHOPKEEPER UNLESS HE GO FETCH ME A DOZEN OF PHOENIX DOWNS
[5v1] The shopkeeper runs. You smell a distinct fecal smell as the shopkeeper smashes into a wall. Oops.

NOOOOO! Try once more to evolve, before trying to take my Sword out of the boss and STABBING HIM REPEATEDLY WITH IT.
[5] You evolve into a Demoknight. [2v4] You fail to retrieve your sword.

THROW MONEY AT SHOPKEEPER

CAST SUMMON SUMMONER II

[1] The money hits you on the head, dealing 0.01 damage each, or 16 total. Ouch. [1] You summon a goblin-summoning orc. He promptly smacks you over the head [6] for [24*5] 120 damage and breaks his hand.

BOSS TURN:
The or goblin-summoner pleads to be allowed into TFB's service.
The goblins attack, two to a PC. [3,6;5,1-1] While Unholy_Pariah avoids the first attack, he dodges into the second, taking [23*2*2] 92 damage and breaking the goblin's sword. [5,1;1] Greenstarfanatic is as lucky; while one goblin deals [12] damage to itself, the other deals [17*2*1.5] 51 damage. [6,2;6] One goblin misses Doomblade, but the other [23*2] rather overkills him and gets hit on the head with Doomblade's, for [6*3] 18 damage. [4,1;2] Objective gets hit by the goblin who held onto his sword and takes [10] damage. LordSlowpoke [[2,1] is missed, and one of the goblins fumbles in another original manner. Finally, jetex [4,3v2,3-1] gets hit by both goblins, taking a total of [20+14] 34 damage. Wow, mooks are weak, whoda thunkit?
jetex's corpse [3v2-2] gets a flimsy hit enhanced by jetex's worse dodge, and deals [13*8] 104 damage.
TFB gestures! [5] Both of jetex's corpses shudder and begin to move! TFB accepts the orc's offer and [4] turns the dwarfbold army into skeletons.

Oh, and LordSlowpoke died/respawned, and Pariah is close to dying.

Dual wield crossbows.

Spray and pray.

You grab another crossbow. [6-1] Holy carp, you hit! You deal [(15*5)+(14*5)] 145 damage!

BOSS TURN
The zombie jetexes note that jetex has respawned and [6,5,1] while one accidentally loses an arm, the others deal a total of [(18*5)+(18*5)] 180 damage to jetex. Who promptly respawns.
The goblin chef [4v2] catches and bakes Objective [2] poorly, then offers the resulting fillet to TFB. TFB refuses, and suggests it be given to the orc. The orc eats it.
The goblins [1] start squabbling amongst themselves. One is killed, and the killer decides to merge them all into a single, non-worthless mob!
TFB gestures! [5] jetex's corpse, zombie jetex's arm, and the dead goblin shudder and begin to move! [4] For S&G, he teaches necromancy to the orc.

[4] You deal [17*5] 85 damage to the mob. However, you need to be damaged to heal.

throw fireballs.
[6] Whoops, that limb's still in the pot. You take [19*7] 133 damage.

Fly out of the dungeon and return with a bagful of Attack potions
[1] You do so and drink one. It's a cursed potion... You are attacked by [1] a wet noodle. It's tasty.

Respawn, and try to get my sword out AGAIN, and do a few slashes.
You [3] yank out the sword, and [2-1] stab yourself in the foot for [17*5] 85 damage. Oops.

Stab the bastard with Spike a glove
Ninja'd, [1] Your spikes face the wrong way. You take [5] five damage. Can you believe he died from a d6?

BOSS TURN:
The zombie jetexes [5] wow, they're rolling well. They rip jetex apart.
The chef decides to make kelp ash stew, and to flavor it with snakegirl. Or maybe the other way around. [1v6] Instead, Cassandra makes kelp-ash-goblin-chef-and-tip-of-tail stew, taking [6*] 30 damage.
The mob [3] applies band-aids to itself, healing [6*2] 12 points of damage.
The gnolls attack...Unholy_Pariah and Objective. [6,3v4,6] While Objective dodges into the ceiling, taking [5*5] 25 damage, Pariah gets hit for [26*5] 130 damage.  Wow, twice in one turn.
The orc summoner guy [4] summons a new goblin chef.

[2] It's stuck into the stone floor, oops. [1] You...uh...[1] Your grenade launcher explodes, killing you and causing a second explosion. Some gears of Mechanicus, a dimension made entirely of gears, start to stop.

BOSS TURN:
Crying from his throne room, TFB [2] is too distracted to do anything to you.
Monoculus [1] explodes, dealing [5*5] 25 damage to everything in the room...that was a crappy 3d6...
