Title: X-COM: Enemy Unknown
Post by: Dsarker on November 05, 2012, 06:42:48 am
(https://dl.dropbox.com/u/49097621/xcomcover530.jpg)

So, fresh from my first completed* game of X-COM: Enemy Unknown, I was deliberating with myself. "What should I do," I asked, "to make this even more fun? !!FUN!! would also be good, too...Ah! I have it! I should display my efforts to Bay12, so that they can criticise me."

So, without further ado, I'd like to start this. I'll update as often as I can**, with a couple of differences from the normal game I'd play. I'm going to make the tactical decisions, but the strategy (which country we go in to help, what we research, what we make, etc) I will be leaving to you. I will also be giving you the exclusive*** naming rights for the cannon fodder we're sending in to this mad brawl!

Now, with nothing else left to go for, your first decision, oh great Bay12!

What continent shall we start in?

As for soldiers, we should have 12 to start with. If you want, I can customise them up for you too, make them look all pretty-like.

*Completed as in none of the team survived.
**UFOs can and will be engaged when spotted, but with alien abductions, the choice of territory to help will be yours.
***One of them may be taken by me.

http://xcom.nexusmods.com/

Mind you, you gotta do stuff so that the mods work with steam right now.  You can't play multiplayer while the mods are in.

At the moment, I have been planning on playing this vanilla, possibly on normal or classic.

If you can recommend some mods that would work well, I'm always happy to try them out.

Urist McUrist, the most cannon-fodder soldier you can make.  And start in... Africa!

I desire any soldier, first name P, last name Rettokan. They well hang in the back of the squad, only ‘over-watch,’ no direct shooting until they gets promoted. He will engage enemies if he is last left, or if one is within three spots near him or an ally. Give him a medkit, he well use it on himself first and foremost, otherwise only uses it to revive a downed squad mate.

Armor highlights are red for now.

I want to go to Africa.

Requesting a dorfing whenever practical as Angron the Angreh. Preference for shotgun-armed assault, so feel free to pass me by until a free one pops up. If you're willing to take in-battle personalities: Attack Attack Attack.

Pvt. Cuntpunt Is trapped in a thousand yard stare. He wears a look that simply says "O__O". He wears this look well.

"Yuo'd ever se'in an ' alien's eyes, Boy? col' an' dead an'lifeless. Black. lik' a doll's eyes. They don't eva' look real. until thay blast ye'." He started to monologue to no one in particular.

A soldier looks at him: A fatal mistake. "Cuntpunch, you haven't even seen an alie-"

Cuntpunt is on the private like a panther. "Shat' up Boy!" He said while he drew a knife from his pant leg holster, with menace bleeding from his veins. He stood up.

"THE GENE POOL IS STAGNANT; I AM THE ADMINISTER OF  CHLORINE" He bellowed inches away from the recruit's face, spittle flying into his beard.

Cuntpunch smiles.

"I like you. your throat is purty." he chimes, a complete 180.

He sits back in his seat and continues to  O__O.

XCOM sure knows how to pick 'em.

As a suggestion, make sure you plan out the "Room bonus" for certain buildings in advance.

The Uplink bonus is invaluable.

Yup, I know. But it's the reader's choice of where they want things :P

RE Uplinks, this would be my preferred design.

* = Uplink
R = other room/space

**R
**R
R*R

Total uplink capacity = 14.

“I would suggest sweetshops, make our boots nice and cheap… wait no, I meant workshops, my mistake.” ~Attributed to Squaddie Patricia Rettokan when told about the real estate she sleeps over.

(( Do note, that was a poor joke, but Quondam vos modo vivere. Also two workshops together.))

“Xeno-biology; I wonder if all aliens have green blood like the movies?” ~Attributed to Squaddie Patricia Rettokan after hearing about the research going on in the lab... or after watching too many bad-grade ET movies.

I'll join in if this is still going.

Name: Derek/Derala Moorsmith
Gender: Male/Female is fine
Nickname: Shadowhawk
Race: Caucasian
Nationality: European of some sort, also accepting USA, Australia, or South Africa
Role: Ranged support. Any class is fine, since they all have decent options there. So I'll just take a likely rookie.
Assault - Uses rifles and focuses on Defensive skills + Flush
Sniper - Squad sight going for In the Zone
Heavy - Holo Targeting, suppression, etc
Support - Defensive Support rather than Medic. Uses smoke, suppression, and the overwatch skills

Armor color - Dark Grey (Can't remember what tint that is. It's in the middle next to a black)

Four X-Rays were encountered quickly. Squaddie Lady Slowpoke took down one, another wounded Squaddie Anna Peters, who advanced to flank it. It was here that feth hit the fan.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Another X-Ray had been in hiding, and flanked Anna Peters. Isabel Nydus attempted to kill the newly revealed X-Ray, but missed.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Anna Peters was shot and killed by the X-Ray. Nydus panicked and went to ground. Patricia Rettokan was making her way up when another newly revealed X-ray attacked and wounded her. Patricia took cover behind a car, and Nydus joined her.

Patricia Rettokan patched up Nydus, who had taken light wounds from the same X-ray that killed Anna Peters. Patricia fell back to Lady Slowpoke, and the two advanced while Nydus covered their flank.

We had killed two X-rays by this point. Lady Slowpoke saw another and shot it, killing it instantly.

They were now pinned down by the three remaining X-rays. Quick thinking from Lady Slowpoke had her advance and throw her grenade, taking down two in the blast, while Nydus took down the last remaining X-ray.

Mission accomplished.

Hmm.It looks to me that people are claiming soldier for them to get violated and mutilated brutally by many things.
CAN I GET MAULED BY A CHRYSSALID MOMMY?

But anyway....how about an american soldier/greek soldier that is male or female and should wear purple armor,a helmet and be nicknamed Vortex (possibly our psionic soldier, who knows?)
