Red Dawn Korps 0.0.5 (Originally Vherid Death Korps)
Initial modding has started. First downloadable version will be 0.1.0 or greater.

I have been thinking of alternative versions of the game for a while. Commies vs Fascists, Fascists vs AMERICA, Crips vs Bloods, etc. I think maybe I thought of a commie invasion situation a while ago, but either way, you could say http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=122749.0 sparked the idea to actually do it. So this is going to be a "Freedom Fighters" type of mod clearly. This still matches up with the 80/90s world in conflict, red alert, etc etc. I think what can easily make this work out nicely too is even for the things like the senate and house, they can stay in place. They will merely be "proxied/puppeted" by the communists and etc to keep the illusion of American consistency. Ill plot more shit out soon.

If I may, can I suggest a few weapons?

One weapon I think would be extremely badass is the Fostech Arms ORIGIN-12. It has an 8 round magazine, 30 round drum if want that in the game, its fully automatic, and I just think an automatic shotgun would be an awesome thing to have in the LCS. Theres also the Street Sweeper, but when people google Origin-12 they'll see it and go "DAMN! Thats a badass fucking gun."

Another gun would be the .22 Ruger LCR, I was thinking it would do piss poor damage, but have a good acuracy bonus since its a snub nose.

Theres also an AK Pistol, I can't remember the real name, but its basically a fully automatic pistol that fires ammo like an AK-74U.

I also had the idea for silenced weapons that wouldn't raise the alarm if you killed someone who was alone in one hit.

For melee, I was thinking something like MMA Gloves that does a little more damage than regular fist fighting, but still only counted as assault instead of armed assault.

And brick fists to, they're ghetto brass knuckles with bricks, I was thinking they would do a lot more damage than normal fists, but be suspicious no matter what, because wearing bricks on your fist is, well, supicious.

I also though of more weapons under the throwing skill that did damage to all enemies, like hand grenades or dynamite.

Wow, I had more ideas than I thought, maybe I should be pitching this at Fox instead.

To me that looks like a Saiga, and I'd rather have a Saiga.

Yeah that was in the previous mod, and will probably be in this one.

Certainly an interesting idea, I unno if I can code something like that yet though. I'll see what I can do when I get to stuff like that, first I'm expanding the items.

Suppressors are kind of really loud...

Most only reduce to about 120-130 decibels, unless you have an exceedingly large can attached, or are making other sacrifices.

Purpose built weapons, such as the welrod and the Delisle carbine, make it all the way down to 73 and 82 db respectively. Still fairly audible.

My point is, suppressors, if implemented, should only make conservatives suspicious.

The stealthy weapons should be only the melee ones, like cutting off someone's head with a sword etc.

I'll admit, it did make me smile. Actually made me think of playing Timesplitters 3 with Bricks Only turned on.

Funny as hell with four people running around (and possibly ten bots) chucking bricks at each other.

I could have a separate "light" version with just some new weapons and stuff. That stuff is simple enough to manage on it's own.

Sounds quite fun. Atleast I won't have to pretend anymore that the Death Squadrons in Nightmare Mode are really Soviet occupation troops.

Its actually a nice idea that will transition smoothly, one that I love, and I wanted to do something more then just add a few things.

I'm sorry if I'm asking too much, I have no idea how to code.  But is it possible to add in sewer locations as safehouses.  More Freedom Fighters-esque in my opinion.  But  this mod sounds great and I'm looking forward for updates.

They're being edited accordingly, so far the ones I've changed work out nicely, there are a few that are kind of oddball like women's rights considering the soviet union actually had pretty decent womens rights in some ways. Others Im sure might be more stalemate but who knows. I think they work pretty well for some of them, its just a matter of making conservative things more soviet, and liberal things more AMERICA

Well, maybe you can replace the "Patriot+" options with someone of the Conseritive+ laws, because when I see "patriot" I see "conseritive."

But the hardcore people that would be supporting the cause to get America back would probably be the conservatives in the reguler game.

While I agree in principle with Jboy and KA101 that conservatism has much more affinity with the patriot side than liberalism does, you'll get into the weeds if you think too much about that. The core conflict here is Patriots against Soviets. Stick to that and you won't go wrong.

In the game it is an alternet time line where the Nazis capture the scientist responsable for the Atom Bomb, and in turn win WWII, thus taking control of America. Somewhere down the line, women become no more than things for reproduction. Maybe that could be a Comunist/Patriot option?

I guess, but there are certain things that fit better liberally. Either way I'm not trying to make things either conservative or liberal. Libertarian is actually more true AMERICA. We're not talking about Conservative 'gays and tin foil hats and govt taking my guns and mexicans taking muhjerbs' americans. We're talking about a different type of AMERICA. It's not something I can quite explain or express, it's just something I understand in my head.

I wouldn't hesitate to just remove issues like Women's Rights if they don't fit. For the rest, just do whatever fits the Patriot/Soviet dynamic, disregarding the whole Liberal/Conservative spectrum. Yeah Women's Rights was just too weird in this context, I've now replaced it with Food Rights, IE Buying Food vs. Bread Lines. But yes I'm focusing on Patriot/Soviet dynamic and not really worrying about whether something is Liberal or Conservative at all.

I'm not looking for weird alternate things like that. That's more a la Red Alert than the whole red dawn / world in conflict idea. With a 80s/90s era soviet union women had a lot of rights that they didn't quite have in other places. They were still discriminated against in terms of they were probably fired first at jobs, and they were deemed to be home makers as well as job holders, but they had pretty big impacts politically considering the time, as well as various other things. America was maybe not quite at that par just yet, it hasn't reached Im going to sue the shit out of everyone time yet, but, both countries hold close enough ideals in the way that women are not useless trash. There's not a big enough spectrum there, "more realistically".

I want to see this in 1776.

That's a pretty funny idea. But that's not something I would do most likely.

 You know, you could actually make the Women Rights as 'Soviet troops are free to harass American women' on Soviet (sadly, it did happen IRL during the march on Berlin), vs. 'Soviet troops are harshly penalized by their COs for any transgressions against women' on Patriot. It would mirror the Soviet leadership being pressured into making their troops behave to avoid a rebellion.

 Some other things could probably work along those lines.
