Congratulations on the release, Toady One! You have earned some serious respect from many in the community for holding out long enough to give us a polished release. I haven't posted above yet, but I will donate $157 to the release fund. :)
Cheers, take a break, have a beer. Toady One and Threetoe, not to mention all the testers, have earned it.

I am now in SUBMARINE MODE. Avoiding the DF-specific forums until I can download and muck around, in four hours.
Now I need to find some other way to kill time at work (while compiling!)...
Boy, Wurm's going to be empty tonight.
-
Huzzah! Diving in!

Age of Myth..160... 200... 300 hurryhurryhurryhurry *explodes*

Wow, it took 9 months to only go from ver 0.23 to ver 0.27. Ouch! I was thinking it would have at least gon to ver 0.3.0.

When I saw this I smiled so hard I got a headache. A damn HEADACHE!
-
Congrats, Toady!
Now to generate a new world, create an adventurer, aimlessly wander the seamless world only to get killed in one hit by one of probably many new creatures.
Sure am glad I have tomorrow off...

AHAHAHA! Starting dwarf mode now! The hardest part now will be choosing a place to put my fortress...

Iron Anvil 1000
so tempting...
start with mega-skilled dwarves and a big pile of stuff...
-
Excelent. I just finished my beta testing duties on another program. Time to crash the fortress!
-
Score! Woo! Finally! Thank you Toady and Threetoe!
*disappears into the new game*
-
Why did it have to be while I'm at work?! ...Just another hour or so and these unproductive reports will be finished and I can catch the bus...

Try on top of a goblin dark fortress... Yes, you can, and it will probably be interesting times
-
Yay! It's Here!
-
anyone know how to jump off of a cliff on adventure mode?
-
Yahoo!
-
You guys won't believe how many communities out there have picked up on this release already.
Just google "dwarf fortress" and you'll already find a few threads regarding this latest version.
-
YES YES YES! And the RNG is already making me cry with laughter again :D
-
Kolobomon, "The Infinite Realm", HERE I COME!
-
Wooooo I'm having so much fun and I haven't even selected my starting site yet

Object tilesets do work. I've tried using herrdog's tileset and it works perfectly fine. I don't know about creature tileset though; I got one to work on the last version with pure luck (throw some letters there, copy-past here), and I was too eager to try the new DF to mess with the creature tileset again. Too bad I have to go to sleep, I've already had three spectactular failings.

You can start with CAMELS now =D
I can die a happy man now.
-
Generating a new world right now. No sleep tonight :D
-
One of the (many) things I am please about in this release is how much faster the game offloads units now, truly a sight to behold as it quickly races through 10k+ units. :)
Orubxah Tadin, "The Everlasting Dimension of Enchantment", what a fitting name for the new version of DF. :D
-
I hereby abandon civilization and retire to my computer room.
-
Happy days and jubilation!
-
Wow i am luky to be awake so late after midnight.
-
Yea its awesome DF seems a lot faster in the world gen part especially offloading units. Maybe saving will be faster?
-
Hah! I joined the forum purely so I could exclaim my joy at the new release!
Sad how everyone else that I speak to about DF seems to react, "GAH what kinda graphics are these??!1"
-
Heh I'm loving the new version except my FPS went to hell, but it more than makes up for that with its massive amounts of features.
I was hooked on Nethack long before I found dwarf fortress so I didn't have that reaction.
-
Goddamit. I haven't been getting enough sleep lately. This is just going to make it worse.
Curse you, Toady one! CURSE YOU FOR BEING SO AWESOME~
-
Toady one i say this from the depth of my heart.
YOU WIN!
-
Congratulations and thank you Toady. (Not just with kind words ;P)
-
Heh. Just got back from a night of partying to find this. :). Never saw rivers getting removed when it was done creating lakes before. Grrr... Taking ages to run the backstory. Finalization is really fast however. As is offloading. Ok quit out to do my standard backup of new genned world.
Ok lets go!
Eh!! it shows the backup folder too? Chel nak!
Map screen pretty!
The Brooks are named?!
Ok start at a spring. We can pick our civ? oh now I've lost where I was. Many shiny map types.
Eh? we can only give 10 levels of skills to a dawarf??? That's incredibly annoying.
Many, many more types of material. Fish leather? many types of metal for picks but only steel for the axe? Charcoal and wood for bringing along is good.
Hey, we can pick the names! Ok thats a big list. leave for now.
Finally embark for real, ... and it was shiny.
-
THIS IS AWESOME! Yar!111!!1! I've got lots of adventuring ta do!
-
I still can't figure out how to dig down from a flat terrain.
-
Build a "ramp up" on the next level down.
-
EDIT: nvm.

Congratulations, Toady. The new version is indeed "teh roxxor". The ability to make floors, walls and buildings alone would have been worth the wait, but all this is almost too much. ALMOST, being the operative word, of course ;)
Now I'm off to play more Dwarf Fortress.
-
*plonk*
The sound of an anvil being dropped off. These dwarves are going to be swimming in alcohol.
So did you bring one-humped camel meat or two-humped camel meat to your fort?
