Just started playing and I have a question. Where do I go for weapons? I have skeelz in swords but I couldn't figure out how to buy a sword.
-
The Oubliette in the Commercial district has a few swords I think. Medieval gear section.
-
Oubliette is right on for swords.
For other weapons, the pawn shop is a great place to find guns. If you need illegal weapons, you might try visiting the crack house or housing projects in the industrial districts, and try to find a gang member willing to sell you weapons. Anything you can't buy one of those two places, you'll need to find through site actions -- breaking into the national guard armory, for example, or killing enemies likely to carry guns.

Thanks! This time I won't die for being stupid and forgetting I had no weapon! :D
-
This has inspired me to mod in more sword-skill weapons.
First: a chainsaw.
-
Why would a chainsaw be sword skill? You can't really parry with a chainsaw...
-
You could cut weapons in half. :)

Well, what other skill would I make it? It's got a blade of some sort. You can swing and stab with it. You can hold it by the handle with one or both hands. Sounds swordy to me.

Heavy weapons? Chainsaws are kind of heavy.

There's an "axe" skill in the game. Axes and chainsaws are both used for cutting wood. Could that work?

Not really, you swing an Axe, with a chainsaw he just kind of... I don't really know how to explain the action.
Maybe a new skill?
-
Heavy and light swords then? We might as well add sub categories for swords, since all swords are different and weight does matter.
-
I can agree with that.
-
The whole reason I started the "chainsaw" idea was that I figured we needed some more-powerful melee weapons, and swords popped into my head based on the OP.
-
It's nice to know I'm an inspiration. :P

Agree with this. Chainsaws are rather unwieldy: You don't so much as expertly kill with it, as expertly keep hold of it while the chainsaw does the killing.
Same logic as to why flamethrowers and machineguns are heavy weapons instead of something else.
-
A new heavy weapon would be nice, like a grenade launcher or RPG.

The reason flamethrowers and machine guns are "heavy weapons" is because, being the only weapons of their respective types in the game, it would be a waste to add a separate class for each, and they both happen to be "heavy".
-
Well, the sword skill only counts for two weapons.
-
Re: Chainsaw.
Just make it a sword based weapon with a -5 skill penalty or somesuch.
-
Why do we need a more powerful sword? Can't you like, deflect bullets and tank rounds if your sword skill is high enough as is?
Or am i thinking of a feature of an old/modded version?
-
Re: Chainsaw.

"A sword is a bladed weapon (edged weapon) used primarily for cutting or thrusting."
That is the definition of a sword.
"A chainsaw (or chain saw) is a portable mechanical saw, powered by electricity, compressed air, hydraulic power, or most commonly a two-stroke engine. It is used in activities such as tree felling, limbing, bucking, pruning, by tree surgeons to fell trees and remove branches and foliage, to fell snags and assist in cutting firebreaks in wildland fire suppression, and to harvest firewood."
Thats the definition of a chainsaw.
If you ask me I don't think the chainsaw belongs in the sword category.

What about giving it its own skill?
