Title: LCS Wiki Needs Love
Post by: Callista on April 07, 2013, 11:40:39 am
I've done some work on the LCS wiki (http://lcs.wikidot.com/start) in the past and I think it could be a really good resource. It already has a lot of good information.

I'd like to call on all of you to improve it.

You can:
Edit the wiki, adding pages on new locations, actions, concepts, etc.
Grammar/style check current wiki pages
Check to make sure Wiki pages are updated for the current revision of the game
Add pages on common mods
Check the source code for the exact mechanics of the game and add information
Add more links between pages

I'd also like you guys to post here with suggestions on pages the Wiki should have, and pages that need more help. I've got a week free with very little anything to do, so I might as well do something useful with it.

For starters, here are some gaps I see:
Many skills and abilities still don't have pages of their own.
Safehouse modifications and sieges need to be updated.
Seduction needs more info.
A lot of broken links and empty pages.

Took care of the Safehouse page and made some cleanup edits to writing the Guardian.  (Forgot my PW and couldn't be bothered to look it up, though, so they're technically anon edits.  No matter.)

Some locations need more information and better formatting. Maybe having all of them in one table would be usefull, specially when trying to influence the public opinion about some issue and not knowing where to infiltrate.

I just updated guns and the department store to reflect 4.06.5.

One thing I noticed (and it really keeps tripping me up) is that the beginner's guide claims that spraypainting the crackhouse does not count as a crime. Problem is, as soon as one of my Liberals tag a wall, they are immediately wanted for vandalism, even if there were no other people on the tile and if suspicion doesn't raise.

I’ve updated the bank page too, because it was missing some crucial information.

Doing a full revision of the former list-of-crimes page.  New one will be titled "Criminal Code".  Would appreciate second opinions, link redirecting, etc support.  Thanks.

Hey, I just wanted to pop into this thread to say that I'm seeing some great changes to the wiki come through my email.

On behalf of all the players who draw on the wiki for help and advice about playing the game, thank you.

FWIW, looks like the sidebar DL link goes to your site, Fox.  Should I just change the numbers to 4.06.5, or did you reorg in the interval?

(If my changing list-of-crimes' name is a problem, I can change it back.  No worries.)

Just took care of that.

Safe way to check if the download link is just swapped numbers (it usually is): Swap the numbers, preview, and then try clicking the link. If it downloads or prompts to download a file, it's working.

I've updated http://lcs.wikidot.com/sleepers
Can someone proof read it?

Also, it still needs information about who affects each issue. I'ts in src/monthly/sleeper_update.cpp starting in line 175
Information about stealing items starts in line 691 but I don't think it's important enough.

Looks good, but you should include janitor sleepers for the police station.  They work just as well in informing you of raids

Cleared up a few details regarding sleeper judges (their odds of taking a trial are a straight Effectiveness roll, apparently) and added some links.  Thanks.

I figure that's why all my Hangin' Sleeper Judges almost always do the trial for me.

Updated the hacking page, but it still needs work. Deleted the Harass websites page.

It would be great if this post could be pinned.
We'd have more chances to reach a critical mass of editors to the wiki, for it to really take off.

And beginners will know where to look for informations!

Now I updated the Intelligence Agency page to include the CCS Backer List, and I added the Prison Reg issue to the Prison.

I just removed some stuff from the Bunker page, since it was getting towards the advising rather than the informing.
