Out of curiosity is it possible to copy the save.dat file from one game and transfer it to another copy of the program on another computer? To, for instance, share a game with someone else? Or for use in research, ie copy before doing something, save scum, try something else; so you don't have to build back up a new squad every time you want to add info to the wiki.

As long as there are no shennanigans with different version numbers, it's perfectly possible.
