Title: Squad Dead. Now a weird bug! (check latest post for details)
Post by: Sirus on April 18, 2013, 12:53:52 am
So! I send my squad of 3 awesome infiltrators into the army base. They're all wearing nearly foolproof disguises from repeated infiltrations of various locations, one of them is a reasonably skilled lockpick, and the leader is a master of persuasion and has a map of the place gained from dating a soldier (I was hoping for a sleeper, but this is good too).

My mission: Find out just what exactly is that yellow exclamation mark in the base!

So I find it. It's an armory! I can break in! I do so! I score carbines and a freaking machine gun! Alarms go off?
Fack.

Thankfully, the squad leader simply bluffs her way past every single group of soldiers, including the initial group that showed up when the alarms tripped. They make it to the exit without a single shot fired! They're home free!

Oh wait. They're being chased.
FACK.

None of my squad members are particularly good at driving or with weapons. They're being chased by 3 Humvees, six soldiers in total. Bailing out seems like a bad choice, considering how poorly runnning away on foot has gone in the past (read: none of them have made it). The three do have Army Body Armor, one of them is carrying the machine gun while the other two have carbines. Do they stand a chance fighting or should I risk trying to outrun them in my car?

In my experience, don't hold me to this, usually 5 or 6 skill in driving are needed to out-drive the army. If they have high agility, have them bail out and run. I wouldn't both fighting, they're more than likely going to die. But if they have low agility, under 20, just hit [F] and press your luck. Wait until the other two or you founder die, if either of those happen, bail out anyway, it can't get any worse than it already is at that point. Good luck.

Um. Less than 1 in Driving. Best Agility is 12. I picked a couple of actors and a locksmith, for Armok's sake. I had no intention of using these guys for combat or fast getaways :P

None of them are my founder, thankfully. Still, if these guys die they're gonna take a lot of time, loot, and experience with them.

Well, in LCS it is imperative you get the right people for the job. Mutants are the best at the beginning, if you play in Arch-Conservative nightmare mode that is. If not black belts in ninja suits would be cool, for ninja squads that is. For disguise actors could be good, but people with higher starting "Charisma" would be better, like telemarketers.

Fack.

I chose to Fight. It started good, blowing off one soldier's leg and insta-killing another. Then all three of my infiltrators got obliterated by return fire.

Conservative ineptitude indeed...

Okay...remember how one of my infiltrators was dating a soldier, trying to turn him into a sleeper?

Despite being listed as dead, that infiltrator and the soldier are still dating O_o;

The LCS does not hold such prejudiced views against necrophilia! How can you deny people love, you conservative scum!?

Yeah, but the soldier is a mindless conservative. Shouldn't he be against that sort of thing?

Though it is funny how he's "quite taken with her unique life philosophy".

Everyone knows conservatives are crushed philosophical hypocrites who would be liberal if they just stopped denying Objective Liberal Truth.

Hmm. Still seems like a glitch to me, but it sure seems like it would fit the themes of LCS :P

Now if only the soldier would become the unconditional love-slave of a dead woman so I could finally get a sleeper inside that military base...

EDIT: Dammit. Soldier "sensed that things weren't working out" and dumped her. Maybe I should have my founder try...despite being a quadriplegic he has successfully seduced people in a single date.

You could try kidnapping, but that bug sounds hilarious.  Considering its LCS, I don't think its game-breaking either.  Did you ever try getting your person to go on vacation?

Not while she was dead, no. And I'm trying to avoid kidnapping because I've never gotten it to work properly.

Either the conservative will die, which usually results in the death of whichever liberal I use to dump the body, or they're so Conservative that they not only resist conversion but destroy the stats of my interrogators.

Approximately how many squad members you have?  Also, how many per safehouse?

5 liberals in total. Three are at one safehouse, doing perfectly legal things (writing for the Guardian, making/selling clothes, and doing odd jobs when not providing lockpicking lessons) and not getting into trouble. These are my core group and responsible for keeping the movement going.

Another one is in a separate safehouse with as many heat-reducing investments as possible, hacking conservative websites and committing credit-card fraud. She's making money and providing the founder with Special Edition material.

The last one is the first of the new infiltrator squad, at a third safehouse. Once she has a couple of buddies, they'll begin earning juice and gathering loot as non-violently as possible. They'll be in charge of recruiting gang members, police officers, anyone who can actually fight. I'm using Actors again, as none of the Blackbelts had any stealth skill and the Telemarketers had pathetic Charisma.

Simple enough, I would recommend to use the safehouse with the most liberals for kidnapping.  First kidnap people who aren't important like janitors etc.  Even important people take about 6-7 days to be reported which is more than enough time for you.  Start off small with nobodies and use them to train your designated psychologist to preferably 9-10+ skill.  Even easier is to just recruit a psychologist from the court house.  Kidnapping process which works for me

Get all members of the warehouse (I'm assuming these guys are low-str so you'll need a bunch for maximum effectiveness) and set them to interrogate.  Beat conservative until Wisdom is 1 (Can be higher in the future, but with newbie psychologists better be on the safe side)  and then have a high psychology/charisma person to just persuade the automaton until he/she gets enlightened.  Each time gives about 1-3 skill per successful enlightenment (may need to check that)  so after a few kidnaps you can move on to better conservatives.  There are probably tons of better guides out there but this works for me most of the time.
