Title: Buying from US Amazon from Outside USA
Post by: Pakhawaj on May 26, 2013, 03:49:51 am
According to many guides on the internet, buying from US Amazon for downloadable content is as easy as changing your address but for some reason I just can't seem to figure it out.
I've tried a few times now, using two different debit cards and 2 different US addresses (one of which is a made-up Borderlinx address), but I always receive a message saying that I need to enter a new card number or edit it. Both cards definitely work.
I e-mailed Amazon about it and received the response:
"Hello,

I'm sorry for the inconvenience caused.

I've looked into your order, and it appears there's a problem with the payment information. The current payment method listed for your purchase is your Visa card.

After some research, I've confirmed that you're trying to use a non U.S. payment method for this order. Since Amazon Games & Software Downloads are only available to U.S. customers, a U.S. credit card is needed to be entered to verify a U.S. billing address. "

Can anyone help me solve this problem?

I'm trying to buy the amazing Crusader Kings II deal (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00B7UK2I2/ref=ox_ya_os_product) if anyone is wondering. :)

For a second there I thought this was some super sneaky clever spam.

Find someone that has an american credit card. Make sure they are trustworthy, send them a gift card, and have them give you the CD key.

Pretty much the only way to do it.  Note that if they catch you doing it, they disable your account and delete all your purchases.

It's really messed up.  There are foreign language books I'd love to have on my kindle, but instead I have to spend $40 on shipping for the physical copies.  Why you no take my money Amazon?

The traditional way (not sure how well it works these days) is to buy gift cards from ebay and use those to fund the account.

Ah, what a hassle! I don't know any Americans unfortunately, so I suppose Amazon isn't getting my money either!
Thanks for the advice guys.
