I got bore of the only real challenges coming from invasions and monsters and added the vermin hating tag to all the intelligent creatures, thus theoretically creating a world where dwarves hate everybody and want them to suffer.

It didn't work out how I was planning, this guy is actually the mayor despite how much he "absolutely detests" everyone he meets. I was really hoping that he would get "accosted by vermin" spam until he went berserk and had fun. So yeah...

In Dwarf Fortress, you make your own challenges. Avoid using traps, atom-smasher and other "cheap" strategies.
Embark on a terrifying ocean. Or a terrifying Tundra.
And it doesn't seem the tag is working. Can't help you with it, sorry, I never used it myself.

I'm not sure but I think the tag only works for vermin. Hence, VERMIN hateable. Remember that vermin are technically not even considered "true" creatures by the game for a lot of things. Additionally, I don't see the "Has been accosted by terrible vermin lately" line in his thoughts, and I guarantee he's come across dwarves lately. I'm sure there's some kind of magic that will get the effect you desire, but I can't think of it right off the top of my head, other than perhaps some kind of elaborate DFhack shenanigans, which is above my paygrade.

Yep, vermin_hateable will most likely only checked for meeting vermin, but it's kind of cool that a creature with the tag can show up in the preferences.
