Its been a while since I`ve had any real dwarf time. But I thought this story had to be shared. I`ll try to keep it brief.
My girlfriend has been watching me play DF for years now, and has always shown an interest in all the stories from my games and the forums that I have bombarded her with. But I`ve never managed to rope her into playing. Until tonight that is, when she approached me and insisted that I was going to teach her how to play DF. She had gone and downloaded herself a new copy, and was strangely insistent that I not go and install a graphics pack or anything. I just shrugged this off as impatience to get into the game and get to learning.
I went through all the steps of generating a new world, explaining the ins and outs of site selection. Selected our starting dwarfs and embarked on a quiet little location in the mountains with some metals, plenty of tree`s and a little stream. Everything was going swimmingly as we set up the first workshops, farms and such. During this she was showing a strange fixation with the status screen, in particular the date. Again I didnt really pay much attention to this and continued my little lesson.
Late spring came around, and we had just finished building our trading depot. We had plenty of food coming in, our dining hall was looking amazing and I was trying to figure out what to move on to next.
Then this screen appeared. One I had never seen before....

It was a god damn dwarfposal!!!
I looked at my girlfriend and there she was with her little ring box in hand with this giant smile on her face. How could I say anything other than a big `yes` to that! :D
I`d like to thank Toady for all the help he gave my now Fiance. Seriously.... that was the most amazing thing ever. This has solidified DF as the game for me. I just wish I was eloquent enough to do this story justice.
