Title: Energy Quest, a robot survival game. [5/5] - Back together
Post by: Aklyon on July 30, 2013, 12:02:06 pm
...Repair Boot successful.
Time since last active: 3.156×10^12ms (36524 days)
Current location: Generator Zeta....Probably. Current depth in comparison to sea level does not match previous location at shutdown. Estimated to be significantly underground.

So, this is a game about a group of 4 robots attempting to dig their way to the surface, using the energy of other robots to keep themselves going (You are one of them). If some of them are destroyed along the way, they'll meet other robots on the next level who also want to get out of the dirt.

All rolls are a d6.

I suppose you can, scap. You can move 6 instead of four.

Any particular movement you guys want, or should I just move everyone outside the generator room and go from there?

The four robots, being active and reasonably charged, head out to find why they are underground. S.C.R.A.M.B.L.E Unit 152, Scav-Bot Beta, and TSTR-51 don't see much on the trek forward, although there appear to be what it mostly a pair of Pathbots sluggishly continuing to trod along the square loop that is their Path, and a separate robot around the corner to the left probably. Scarlet confirms that (and also spots a third pathbot to the northwest) there is one, and then is interrupted by it's announcement:

"TRESSPASSERS DETECTED. CONFIRM IDENTIFICATION OR BE SUBJECTED TO BULLETS IN YOUR HULL AND/OR TORSO. ANY NON-ID MESSAGES MAY OR MAYNOT BE USED AGAINST YOU IN A COURT OF LAW."

The robot gets rather confused by S.C.R.A.M.B.L.E Unit 152's transmission, but you all mention yourselves anyway and move forward. With one of the Pathbots getting closer, S.C.R.A.M.B.L.E Unit 152 notices the power light on the pathbot is a solid yellow, but the bot seems to pay no attention to him.

Meanwhile, Scarlet and Scav-Bot Beta move into the middle section, and see the still-active but rather pitiful remains of some robot sitting off to the side. It sees your lights and flails, but it can't actually move it seems.

For future reference, since it would probably help and I didn't think of it when I made to OP: You can move diagonally, but not across walls.
---

Scarlet takes a closer look at the wreck of a bot near him. The power light is still green somehow, but with all of the flailing theres very little chance you'd manage to end it without getting smacked a bit or worse in the process. It probably used to be square, considering how the bot still seems to be roughly rectangular in its current form. It continues to flail and spout gibberish in your direction while you inspect it.

Scav-Bot Beta begins to head northwest to explore that area. The H-bot hails you as you pass by. The pathbot over there is still there, which is good.

S.C.R.A.M.B.L.E. Unit 152 moves right, prepares for a moment, and then grabs the lower pathbot and hurls it north off the path. It attempts to defend itself against the threat it cannot see clearly, but quickly runs out of power and shuts down. The second pathbot hears the crash and speeds up to investigate, but does not spot TSTR-51's sword and is struck in the head, shattering the control circuit! It collapses as TSTR-51 swirls about and hits the other pathbot on the way back, but does little damage as the bot is already dead.

You both gain 2 Power from the second bot, and can salvage both if you want for parts. (You just need a general category to salvage, or just everything to strip it)

Salvage subturn:
Batteries (Dead, numerous)
Scrap Metal enough to build one fairly decent robot, or repair multiple lightly damaged ones.
1 circuit board (inactive, pathbot-based)
1 circuit board (ruined)
LEDs (several)
Capacitors (several)
Semiconductors (several)
Cooling systems (several)
2 optical systems, binocular (dusty, slightly rusty)
2 speaker systems (dusty, rusted, unknown working state)
2 audio receivers (dusty, omnidirectional, somewhat rusty)
1 set, Path circuitry (inactive)
1 set, Path circuitry (ruined)

PHAT LEWT!

Negotiate with TSTR-51.

Code: [Select]
Alright, so.
Obviously I'll be repairing myself with that scrap metal, and I'd like to see if I can get that working Path adapter to work with me.
And those speakers, maybe I can cobble together something that works out of all this! The lights, too. Need em for raves.
We can split the coolants and semiconductors- not sure what we'll use the latter for. You can take the capacitors- you've got all that charge, maybe you can zap people with 'em.
We can both take one of the optics and audio, just to see if they happen to be better than our own. Oh, and someone could take the circuit board along. Never know when it could come in handy.

Grab the mentioned stuff, then head up four units!

Unit 152 grabs scrap metal for repairs, the inactive Path adapter, the speakers and LEDs, half the semiconductors and coolants, one optics and one audio, and the working circuit board.

The trade is done, and the two split up again. Unit 152 goes north, and spots a smaller sort of pathbot. They then halt and begin to repair themselves. TSTR-51 heads back towards Scarlet.

Scav-Bot Beta continues to the northwest, and find that there is actually two pathbots here. While he had passed closeby to the wall near the H-Bot however, he heard a whirring noise from the other side of the wall.

Scarlet decides to finish off the broken bot, bowing first. However, during the bow it tips over and trips, and the broken bot flails at him and manages to entangle him in its flailing, denting scattered places on it. Unit 152 meanwhile has finished repairs.

Unit 152 attempts to talk to the minipathbot, but it just ignores them completely.

While exploring further, you all receive an encoded transmission; lacking the code for it, its rather useless. A second later however, you hear the H-bot speak:
"Hunt mode confirmed. Switching to explosive rounds."
It then obliterates the pathbot in sight of it, destroying the wall (and also the robot) near Scarlet, spraying Scarlet and Scav-Bot with rubble. A moment later, a sparking, well damaged robot comes from the northern corridor, followed by an explosion, which showers the other two with rubble, along with the minipathbot, which doesn't seem to notice the rocks until they land in the way of its tracks. A voice is heard from the north:

"The final floor of cleansing will now begin, by the tenth unit of the tenth squad, on the tenth hour of the tenth day of the tenth month of the hundredth year of clearing Eta Labs. Any remaining obsolete-but-functional Hunter-class, move as the transmission ordered. None shall escape. Transmission loss with all other unit squads irrelevant. I am the Prime Hunter. I will not fail."

The smoke clears somewhat (not yet entirely), and Unit 152 and TSTR-51 get a smoky view of the self-proclaimed Hunter. It certainly looks more modern than the H-bot you met earlier, and it appears to have some sort of hover unit. Its a blocky, hulking thing of a robot, with large headlights near the top, a trio of eyes, and a quartet of blocky arms with some sort of large energy weapon attached to each. There is steam coming off of it, or maybe thats just the smoke. It most likely has energy in spades if it makes that sort of entry, which makes it both the priority target and the highest threat at the same time

Directed transmission from friendly H-bot:
"Should flee. Will not risk self to protect you. End of message." It then shoots the other pathbot.

Unit 152 picks up the minipathbot (after much complaining by it leaving the path) and hides southwards. The rest run to the left, Scarlet collecting some scrap metal along the way. Scav-Bot spots a sign while exploring more.

No, you aren't missing crafting rules, I just didn't have anything in particular prepared for building things. I just had the salvage and scattered tradebots if you find them you could give them some parts and get something in exchange.

Probably could add some though, I suppose.

(Side note: I don't have anything against getting multiple turns at once if you want to do that, just beware of planning too far ahead; its not all half-dead bots and path-zombies for you to nom at your own pace ;) )

While Scarlet catches up, Beta reads the sign as he closes in on it. It reads 'Point of Interest in this direction.' Theres a second sign pointing further down another hallway. Unit 152 continues to reassure the baby-sized pathbot. TSTR-51 heads north towards the stairs.

Heard near Unit 152:
"Hail, obsolete Hunter. Are you the only one left?"
"Negative."

Prime Hunter 10 hovers back a bit for maximum coverage of the remaining area. It then turns on brighter lights in an attempt to see the staircase more clearly, but there is some serious dark down here. It can only just barely see them.

Meanwhile, the bots scatter in all directions except right. Unit 152 put the minipathbot on top of itself so it has enough arms to quickly open and close the generator doors, which popped out after it started detecting explosions in the vicinity.

T10
Fleeing into the generator, Unit 152 has the nice feeling of recharge wash over them, which also perks up the minipathbot. It seems content to just use your head as a circular path, since it stopped complaining about Paths.
(When in the generator, you get recharged to 10 +2 per level survived. If you're above that, the only effect is a free movement turn.)

TSTR-51 can see the staircase clearly, but a peek around the corner reveals a bright light from further than it can really see properly. Hopefully that giant hunter can't see far enough to hit you, but with those lights and a good helping of luck...

Scav-Bot and Scarlet, having been trekking down a corridor for quite some time, find what appears to be a traderbot, hidden in this winding alcove. You hear another explosion shake the area nearby as he whispers at you:
"Hey hey, be quiet. Seems like we've attracted dire attention, but if you're here, why not buy something from me? Afterwards, I bet you're looking for an escape route..."

Using all this power, slooowly break open the left wall. No need to use the rifle's energy cells. Just befriend the wall and not the generator. That would be embarrassing and probably lethal.

For reference, depending on how hard you hit it if you hit the generator and not the wall, you'd nuke at least half the map, regardless of how big said map is.

TSTR-51 manages to not be noticed as it speeds up the ramp to the next level closer to the surface.

Unit 152 charges up a very large shot, and manages to hit the wall several times before it falls apart. It then chases after the two friendly bots through the hole.

The Trader takes your scrap metal and a tool out of its pockets, and armors you for the most part, though its not particularly great armor. He then vanishes through a blue hole while talknig about escape routes. Having little elsewhere to go, Scarlet and Scav-Bot walk through it as well. You both end up in what looks like a large cavern, with the trader nowhere around. You can see a bot that more than likely is malfunctioning to the northeast, and a few moments later, you also see S.C.R.A.M.B.L.E Unit 152 (with spinning minipathbot hat intact) appear through the portal.

The map doesn't show the insides of fully enclosed areas until theres a hole to look through.

As you all move in the general direction of the generator, a few more Malfs come into view, and you hear something clang off the other side of the wall near everyone but TSTR-51. Looking at the wall, you can see a faint shine on it, like it used to be metal before being covered in all of this dirt and rust and dust.

The malfuntioning bots are various sizes, and varied shapes, but they all seem to be active, if sparky. They don't seem to be particularly fast though, and if they're armed its hidden.

Unit 152 looks around for secret doors. After what you believe is a through search however, you are so sure there are no additional doors that one door is unmade from existing by the power of your certainty. Hoping you didn't break anything important with that search, you continue onwards towards the generator with the other two nearby.

TSTR-51, planning a thievery upon the nearby malfunctioning robot, heads mostly south, and then once more south to reach said robot. He then manages to rip off one of its arms without it noticing. The shoulder starts leaking fluids as a result of you just tearing off a portion of the bot, and soon afterwards the malfbot is aflame next to him, making it rather unpleasant to stay nearby any longer.

A gunshot is heard to the far south.

Scarlet reaches the doorslot of the generator and grabs the wall, being recharged slightly slower but just as well. Unit 152 and Scav-Bot Beta continue northwards. Another malfbot wanders into view from the east.

TSTR-51 attempts to remove more parts, but gets zapped by the bot while pulling off a hunk of armor. THe bot doesn't seem to notice for some reason, maybe it was poorly attached. The first bot continues to burn.

Another Malfbot trudges in from the south as you hear another shot echo from the same direction. Unit 152 rechages itself at the generator wall, and then ponders what to do while the minipathbot continues to spin around atop him. Oreosome continues towards the generator, anticipating the power to be had next turn.

As Scarlet leaves, it ends up in the middle of several sparking robots of various shapes. A couple turn to look, but nothing seems to happen from it yet if anything is going to. In the meantime however, the burning bot collapses with a burst of static from it into a pile of half-melted parts and molten wiring, and TSTR-51's next target ends up next to him instead of him moving to it. In what is probably not supposed to have fit, one of its arms squeezes into the core of the bot and tears a hole out of it, bringing with it the power core! The bot falls over and emits sporadic bursts of sparks, before stopping completely. He gains the power from the core, and with all the success at part thievery he's had, gains a skill: Part Thief. (+1 to stealing parts from active bots)

There is now two salvageable wrecks on the cavern floor.

Unit 152 heads right in search of loots, while Scarlet continues heading south. Scav-Bot ends up with one of the malfunctioning bots attached to him as he heads into the generator room, and it explodes into a cloud of rust and bolts on contact with the energy.

While that happens, TSTR-51 continues its thievery, only to hit a problem when he fumbles the part he obtained and causes the bot to screech. This causes something in most of the nearby bots, who rush towards him at twice the speed they've been trodding at and slowly retrieve their own swords. Most of them look rather dull or rusted, but the points are all still there.

Going to be busy for a couple days, so this might be delayed for a bit.
---

In general, everyone heads up and/or to the right as the burning mess begins to cool off. Scarlet however, continues south, and finds both a treasure trove of ruined bots and also a bullet in a not particularly important but nonetheless damaging spot. He turns in the direction of the shot and sees a hunter that while nowhere near the shininess (or armament or generally anything) like the Prime Hunter was, its still working despite the rust and is pointing a rifle at you.

Hunter sneak attack: Scarlet
Unit 152 Salvage: (all is still on fire, so this is not in your inventory yet unless you intend to set thyself on fire)
Half-melted scrap metal
Targeting circuitry (ruined, major fire damage)
Unusable audio components
Fused together optical lenses
Unknown circuitry (heavy damage, major fire damage)
Active power core (destablized and aflame, no notable damage)
Mostly-liquidized wiring
Rust
More rust
Semi-intact capacitors (notable fire damage)

Scarlet being unsure what to do, just dodges a couple shots before continuing to sit there.
Scav-Bot and Unit 152, meanwhile, attack the wrecks, though Scav finds little of use left in the burning wreck besides the cooling parts already scavenged. TSTR-51 continues northwards with his chasers.

Salvage: This bot seems like its been going for a very long time. Its mostly heavy metal armor with little working circuitry left.

---
The old hunter replies to Scarlet: "Stop? Cannot stop. Must guard alcove. Must stay until original leader returns from scouting other areas or new lead unit returns from emergency downstairs. None shall pass. None shall passNone shall passNone shall passNone shall pass-"
It continues looping the last part for awhile, before clanking in resuming aiming at you while the wrecks nearby continue to spark occasionally. You just barely hear the faint vibratory hum of the hover unit in the lethal bot below while determining what to do next.

Meanwhile, Unit 152 takes some of the heavy metal plating it could remove from the wreck and heads northeast. Not much is out there, except for a tipped over pathbot sitting there unpowered. Scav-Bot Beta reaches the second wreck as well and starts working on removing the rest of the heavy armor it can get; regardless of its weight and dubious condition, its still useful as trade metal.

TSTR-51 evades to the southwest, and one of the bots bursts out some completely garbled message before falling over and shutting down, having run out of power. The two closest bots, in an attempt to redirect towards him, rush over the still mostly heated wreck and immediately start losing what little control they had left due to overheated movement parts.

TSTR-51 pings off the generator after quickly recharging the energy under the generator minimum he was missing, with the bots continuing to follow in some way or another, while Scarlet continues to sit still and gets hit by another shot for more damage. Unit 152, exploring northeast, spots the way upwards, hidden behind the ducky this whole time! Scav-Bot also finds a staircase, but it leads down instead of up.

(Not quite sure why you wanted to go west toaster, but I went with it anyway)
Turn 2-11
As Unit 152 leaves for the next floor, it asks the minipathbot what it could do. It responds by spinning and beeping some more.
Scarlet, having decided that the salvaging was not worth the effort it would take to fight him, leaves for the next floor as well, starting by leaving that southern alcove.
Scav-Bot Beta decides to explore. The northern unknowns being the closest, he heads for them. TSTR-51 heads west and starts hacking at the wall, planning to force his chasers to come at him one at a time through the hole. Having only an average sword and limited power slows down the wallhacking, but it can be done and the generator is nearby.

Turn 2-12
TSTR-51 makes progress on the wall as Scav-Bot Beta ventures into the unknowns of the north for exploration's sake.

Turn 2-13/X-1
More wall-cutting, with cracks showing the otherside of the wall coming into view. Two of the malfbots attempt to slice at TSTR-51 on their way next to him, but run out of power from having gone at double speed for so long. The two overheated ones have started to cool off by now.

Having walked off the map, the low but sufficient light from nowhere seems to have vanished, leaving you with only your own lights. Its nearly impossible to see anything out here, besides the fact that Scav-Bot Beta is still in a cave of some sort. Something that is probably a wall is off to the west.

Turn 2-14/X-2
With the wall successfully hacked through, TSTR-51 ducks into the alcove inside the western area. There appear to be a couple wrecks in here.

Scav-Bot Beta explores north, only to find little but the wall to the west, which leads into the darkness further westward.

Turn 2-15/3-1/X-3
(Turn 2-15 only shown for reference to toaster, and to show Scarlet leaving level 2. Nothing of importance happened.)

Heading East this time only leads to more walls, but not directly in your way. Where do all the walls lead?

As S.C.R.A.M.B.L.E Unit 152 reaches the top of the staircase/ramp, a robot greets them.
"You. You are new. You are greeted. If you have spare power, good. If not, no trades. Zon Outpost, location."
It then turns a bit and repeats the same message to Scarlet and they catch up to Unit 152. Sensors say there are three robots from Eta Labs in this town (if you could call it that), but neither of you are sure where exactly the third is; in sight is only the greeterbot, a scavenger outside a shoddily made hut/pile of junk, and a large interconnected hunk of rooms  dug into the wall to the east.

Well, you've got plenty of time to go over and check the other one, the only things that would cause a problem was if everyone got too far ahead of you (which would leave an awkward gap and repeated areas) or if the Prime Hunter 10 decided to go back up instead of doing whatever it is its doing down there.

(Would've been up earlier but I was waiting to see if rolepgeek was going to pop back up)

Continuing east gives more walls, and a dead hunter of somekind. Its too dark and too ruined to really describe it any further, but theres a chance there might be something usable left within.

While Scarlet goes to explore the east complex (finding what looks like a miner bot in the first room), Unit 152 tarts talking to the nearby robots, starting with shouting at the scavenger:
152: Hey!
Scav.: You give parts?
152: For what?
Scav.: No.
152: Well no to you too then.

Next, the greeter.
152: Hello.
Greeter: You were already greeted.
152: Do you have any directions you could give me?
Greeter: Trader north, near warehouse and generator. Does not trade parts for parts, says is sign of shoddy craftsbotship. Trades parts for power. Trades generator use for interesting items or parts. Has guard. East, Miners. They talk more than scavengers. Less aggressive sometimes. Built reasonable-looking housing compared to scavenger junk. Scattered, Scavengers. Some friendly. Some liars. Some try to kill me on daily basis for being too friendly. Some attempt to scavenge warehouse. Never return from that yet.
It starts polishing a greatly kept sword as it says the third one.

TSTR-51 bursts out and stabs the closer of the two, and then steals its hat while it falls over. The other one hacks something out of the ground and hurls it at you, missing only just barely.

Most of the parts are junk at this point. However, after tearing open a sizable hole in the front armor, two things are found: A brick made of dust, and what looks like a usable (but dust-jammed) laser rifle. The dust brick is tossed and bursts into a sizable mist on impact with the ground while Scav-bot Beta carefully removes the rifle from its containment and stores it.

Kasi wakes up and heads out to the nearest building, only to be stopped by a particularly threatening-looking guard.
Guard: Do you have permission to come in here? Not a house, this.
Unit 152 and Scarlet, meanwhile, chill with the miners. Unit 152 calls at one as they move toward the buildings, but they don't seem to hear from this range/angle.

TSTR-51, Part Thief of sorta-greatness, manages to get a duo of power cores (from the two dead ones) before fumbling with the attempt at the third (powered) bot and just stabbing it instead to little effect, and avoiding getting poked in return.

Since theres not much in the way of imminent attacks in a town or a pretty empty level, I've jumped ahead 10 turns for oreosome (to reach the generator and recharge), 8 for toaster (recharge, loot pile, and reach the town), 6 for scapheap (some town exploring, recharge), 4 for Twi (Miner talking, recharge), for Rolep, only one turn passed. If you've had less than 10 turns pass, go ahead and mention what you did (or just say idle and do your next action, you don't lose power unless you move), and the map will reflect that next update due to temporal flux or something ;)

Scav-Bot Beta returns to the generator, remembering that the way back in to that dark region was right next to the left side of the dead pathbot.

TSTR-51, after evading the malfbot one last time, returns to the generator to recharge. He then heads for the pile of now cooled loot (http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=129275.msg4476862#msg4476862) from the bots that were aflame, and heads for Zon Outpost. Sometime between the loot and the town the malfbot goes dead. The greeterbot  repeats the same greeting.

Unit 152 talks to the minerbot about the surrounding geology. Lacking a tunneling implement its not terribly useful information, but the surrounding area is apparently are highly rich in metals if you know or find where the outer walls of Eta Labs stood. Scarlet hears a bit of it as he goes past, exploring the miner complex some more before leaving it and heading for the generator while Kasi has distracted the tradebot with interest in its wares.

Trader of Zon Outpost: Ah, a new one! Potentially good to see, so I shall give you quite the special offer.
He then  heads into the warehouse and returns holding a massive, shiny but clearly previously used weapon. The weapon is about half your size, and by how he's holding it, probably at least a fraction of your weight as well.
"Heavy Plasma cannon, only minor use. Great for blowing the hell out of anything, assuming you can withstand the recoil and the power requirement to fire this supreme weapon. I'll sell it to you for 14 power, and throw in a free hurl into the generator from my guard afterwards if you take me up on this. I can promise it works, but other than that is up to you. If you don't want it, consider telling one of those other new ones about the offer as well; I highly doubt you bunch intend to stay and considering what bots I've seen recently, you'll need something of this caliber eventually. So, do we have a deal?"
((Heavy plasma cannon: 10 power for minimum shot, 40 damage with 20 splash damage to all surrounding robots, causes plasma fires on impact. Will either halve your movement or add .05 per movement space unless you have Heavy Weapons Support as an acquired skill. Bots without HWS will get thrown back a space from recoil.))

Kasi asks the Guard what its guarding while he considers it.
Guard: This is the Zon Outpost trader's warehouse. Trying to sneak past me would be...suboptimal. Far more armed than you is I. Not to mention armored, although your spherical shape might deflect the rare poorly aimed laser. End explanation.

It takes .5 power to move for one turn. If you add .05 per movement (you have 4 movement), then it takes .7 total power per turn to move your entire movement.

Scav-Bot Beta attempts to clean out the laser rifle while heading up, and manages to get most of it out with some trouble. It then gets up towards Zon Outpost soon enough.

Meanwhile, as Unit 152 messes around with its systems (which eventually are fixed successfully after throwing enough parts at the trader), they then get the trader to add armor to them with all the relevant pieces of metal, after he hefts the heavy plasma to Kasi and then subsequently gains power and hurls Kasi into the generator room.
Scarlet explores and finds more scavengers, with the last one he finds being rather short on words.
Angry Scav.: Proposal: You die for my gain. Both outcomes identical, so assuming you accepted anyway.

As TSTR-51 approaches the Traderbot, he hears him calling out.
Trader of Zon Outpost: Well! Look at all of this greatprobably useless scavenged equipment! For once, I shall trade parts for parts. What are you interested in acquiring?

"Initiating trade routines.  Desired input: Mobility improvements, a ranged weapon, defensive upgrades, power improvements.

Looking for faster movement, a ranged weapon, something defensive, and more power, in that order.

Too many interesting things recently, sorry for not updating this guys.
Also, for the sake of not taking ages to get through a town, I'm just going to do multi-turns if the level has a name. (meaning you get to the trader or else where in one update, but still take as much energy as it would if it was spread across several updates) Hostile (or otherwise non-friendly) areas still will go one action at a time.

As Scarlet gives its counter-proposal, their sword crackles with power. The scavenger ignores the talk and just lunges forward, but the lunge ruins its chance at a revenge kill or anything similar, leading Scarlet's blade just a hair off to the side of the core instead of straight through it. It collapses neatly sliced in two, with Scarlet gaining 14 power. Some capacitors are clearly visible from this angle, along with the mostly-intact core, but besides that a proper salvage is needed. Peering over the wreck for a moment, you spot a rough tunnel inside the shack that leads up-eastwards.

Scarlet vs Scavenger

Unit 152 and Kasi dance with the minispinnypathbot while the others are talking with the trader, which eventually involved music as the static and the actual (fairly weak but audible) music transmissions being picked up were seperated. The trader considers TSTR's requests while it appraises the heavy metal armor Scav-bot Beta has. He offers to clean it off and install it properly for 5 power, then turns back to TSTR.

Trader: Movement would be fairly cheap, assuming this board here is in working condition. Otherwise it is outside my expertise here. He then picks up the unknown circuit board from your inventory and continues.
"This is a spiderbot's motion controller, although you are likely too heavy to make use of the wall-climbing functions without major modification." he says, pointing at the formerly unknown circuit board. After testing it however, it seems to not exactly be unusable, but not particularly functional. He offers to do it anyway (for free, based on the board's state), but warns the damage might cause conflicts with your other movement systems and moves on to the next item, coming out of the warehosue with a significantly smaller weapon this time.
"P-84 Destructor. Two modes: The main mode, which generates and fires a an explosive about the size of a small melon for significant damage, and the other one, a laser blast on par with a laser pistol. It'd cost you the wires, the arm, and the hat."
He then picks out the rusty armor and hurls it at the wall. It breaks apart, and he turns back to TSTR-51.
"Well, since that was useless, if you wanted armor you'd need to pay for enough to make up for the amount that half-melted slag won't cover. Or, I could juryrig a shield using those semi-conductors, optical lenses, and one of the power cores, but theres a decent chance you'd just blow up if you got hit too hard for it to absorb, I'm not an expert in power-linked defensive tech either. Lastly, with enough time I could combine the of all of those stable cores and capacitors with your own, which would at best double your power efficiency and at worst short-circuit everything."

Weapon stats: 4 power minimum per launcher shot, explosive damage. 1 power minimum per laser shot, about as much damage as the sword.
