Title: Clockwork parts without automatons?
Post by: Nether on November 26, 2013, 04:38:08 am
I'd like to be able to build turrets but prefer my invaders of the more... melee nature. Is there a way to get clockwork parts if I disable the automatons? (Or another way to (legimitely) get turrets?)

Thanks for making this, Meph! (And all others contributing too, off course!)

Would it be possible to add a reaction to lets say, the forge to be able to make (brass?) clockwork parts to eventually make turrets?

Try the toolmaker, but I am sure that the expedition system will yield results. Expedition Outfitter, then raid Automatons. Or try Teduks Fine Goods... not entirely sure if I modded them in as tradegoods, but I think I did.

Can't you buy them from Gnome traders?

Yes, but thats slow... you first need an embassy, gold coins and call the gnomish caravans in the first place.

Spring-steel clockwork parts  are made in the toolmakers workshop. They work for turrets. Bit costly and you need (I think?) to do some research for forges to make spring steel, but on an average map - it's a solid source to make turrets with. :)
