It somehow fits the game.

Basically, the value in the game that tells the game where the character's name is stored never got told where the data it's supposed to point to is actually located, so it's aimed at somewhere random in the sourcecode. The "Why, Lord? Why?" string is a string in the code (one of the death speeches as I'm sure you know), but the other stuff before it is data from the program that doesn't translate well into ASCII characters.

Just wait around long enough and that'll set off the alarm.
