Title: Miasmatic. (Plot!)
Post by: ~Neri on May 13, 2014, 04:58:54 pm
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Drifting through the void, quiet and serene. You rarely think, your slumber undisturbed. You know not how long you have been here. Floating without thought. Quiet and calm, peaceful and thoughtless.

Something tugs on your mind. A light tug but a tug all the same. You haven't felt anything for aeons, you're curious and slightly worried.

The tug gets stronger, the void takes on colors. Red. Purple. Green. Flashing lights and colors. The tug becomes a yank. You cannot get free. Purple lightning emanates from a hole in the void. You know your slumber has ended.

Closer and closer you are pulled. Faster and faster the void spins around you. The lightning intensifies, building in power. You slip over the edge. Falling down the hole.

Your mind is on fire. You have no vessel but your soul.

Suddenly a lurching sensation and all thoughts cease.

~

You can't remember what just happened. You're sure it was important.

You open your eyes. All is black. The air is stuffy and slightly musty. You are laying down on something hard and not particularly comfortable, you feel a weight on your chest. You are extremely hungry and thirsty, you don't think you have eaten or had a drink for a while.

You aren't quite sure what to do right now.

Feel around yourself, if possible.
Title: Re: Miasmatic.
Post by: ~Neri on May 13, 2014, 05:09:59 pm
You attempt to sit up to feel around, you smack your head on something solid and probably wooden. Ow, that sorta hurt. You clutch your possibly bruised head with your hands and lay back down.

After a minute, the pain dies down and you feel around, making sure not to smack your head again. You appear to be in a small wooden box, about six by three by two feet. There is some sort of leather bound object sitting on your chest.

Post by: Lyeos on May 13, 2014, 05:11:27 pm
((This is why I said "feel", not "sit up"  >:( And I knew it.))

Feel the object. Is it a book?
Title: Re: Miasmatic.
Post by: ~Neri on May 13, 2014, 05:20:30 pm
You try to figure out what the object on your chest is, thinking it may be a book. It does appear to be a book but it would be a bit hard to read it or open it in these small quarters.

Feel yourself. What do we feel like? Can we tell if we have a gender?
Title: Re: Miasmatic.
Post by: ~Neri on May 13, 2014, 05:47:27 pm
You begin feeling yourself, starting with the lower parts of your body you're pretty sure you are human.. Wait, no, you have a tail, it's fairly fluffy so that's nice and you are fairly sure you are (Insert Gender Here.). You then begin checking the upper areas, still overall humanish, only one set of nipples, no random protrusions of bone, you apparently have some sort of fluffy pointy ears though. You're also fairly sure your hair is longish. Maybe a little bit past your shoulders.

((What gender? And no the MC is not a trap unless it is voted that way, the obligatory trap is later on in the storyline regardless of the gender shade chosen for the MC.))
Title: Re: Miasmatic.
Post by: Lyeos on May 13, 2014, 05:48:48 pm
We're a lady, obviously. Although a bit underdeveloped in certain areas.

Push against what's above us.
Title: Re: Miasmatic.
Post by: ~Neri on May 13, 2014, 05:54:59 pm
You do a quick check again, having somehow forgotten what gender you were within ten seconds of checking. You are definitely female, although you could be a little bit more.. developed in some areas.

You push against the thing above you and the it pops upwards and slides out of the way as you push it, it clatters to the floor to the left.

Everything is still completely dark. You can't hear anything except the echo of the lid hitting the floor.
Title: Re: Miasmatic.
Post by: Lyeos on May 13, 2014, 05:59:33 pm
Get out! Shout hello! Make sure you take the book! Figure out if we have clothes!
Title: Re: Miasmatic.
Post by: ~Neri on May 13, 2014, 06:08:04 pm
You shout into the darkness. HELLO? You wait for a minute... The only thing you can hear is the echo of your voice now.

You don't believe you are wearing clothes.. Maybe some are laying around? ..Hopefully? You grab the book and step out of the box you were in.. You fall several more feet then expected and land on your butt. Owww... What kind of idiot puts a person in a box in pitch black darkness and then puts the box on something several feet off the ground?!

Get up. Slowly walk forwards, one arm in front of you and down a bit, and try to find a wall.
Title: Re: Miasmatic.

You stand up and attempt to find a wall, after about three steps, you slip on some object and fall on your butt again. Ow!

Title: Re: Miasmatic.
Post by: ~Neri on May 13, 2014, 06:29:08 pm
It wasn't slippery, more of a rolly thing, you stepped on it, it rolled, you fell. You crouch down and grab it, it is a wooden object, maybe a foot and a half long, it has a lot of cloth wrapped around one end. Maybe a torch? Too bad you don't have a way to light it or anything.

You fumble around on the ground and find a small pouch several feet away from where you found the torch.

Feel inside the pouch.
Title: Re: Miasmatic.

You stick your hand in the pouch, there is a small smoothish thing that feels like metal and there is a small roughish piece of what feels like rock in there,

Try to use them to lite the torch.
Title: Re: Miasmatic.

You aren't quite sure how that would work.
Title: Re: Miasmatic.

Strike the metal with the rock over the torch like object.
Title: Re: Miasmatic.
Post by: ~Neri on May 13, 2014, 07:21:02 pm
You take the metal and rock out of the bag and strike them together. Several sparks burst into existence and fall to the floor, quickly vanishing. Getting an idea, you strike the metal and rock together above the cloth part of the wooden thing. It doesn't catch the first several times but after the fourteenth time, it catches and bursts into flame, the light is blindingly bright to someone used to complete darkness.

After you blink the spots away, you can see you are in a stone room, the box you were in was coffin you think, it is sitting on a stone table. There are some black robes hanging from a hook on the wall on the other side of the room. There is an empty torch rack next to a doorway, the door is closed and barred from the inside.

Title: Re: Miasmatic.
Post by: ~Neri on May 13, 2014, 07:41:26 pm
You put the torch in the torch rack before you walk over to the robe and don them, no reason to set them on fire well trying to put them on. The Robe has several pockets and one big one near the front with two openings.

You consider staring into the torchlight but decide it would probably be a bad idea.

Grab the torch and light it on fire. Then walk back to the door and knock on it. Again asking if someone is out there. If no one says anything attempt to kick the door with your foot to smash it the hell down.

You consider setting the torch on fire again. You don't see how this would work, it is mounted in the torch rack next to the door.

You walk over to the door so you can get some better lighting to read the book with. You sit down and open the book to a random page.

..You can't understand Any of this. It's all scribbles to you! You flip through pages randomly. Something catches your eye just as you flip to another page. You go back several pages and find what it was that caught your eye...
You can't find it.. Maybe you should look through it later?

You then decide to search the room for anything else...
You find a note inside the coffin. You can actually understand what it says.

If you are reading this and I am not present, something has gone horribly horribly wrong. If I am alive, I may not be for much longer and if I am dead then I am dead. You are the failsafe. I have no idea what race you are, all I know is that I found your corpse frozen in crystalized Mana all those years ago. If you have been reanimated without me, one or several of the failsafe spells activated to ensure all was not lost. There may have been a delay and there may not have. It could be thousands of years from when I am writing this and it could be minutes, I do not know and likely will never know. The book I left you with details a rather advanced series of spells from a specific school of magic called Necromancy. I decided that school would give you the greatest chance at returning magic to the world. Do not expect to be able to read it instantly, the book was written in truescript and will become clearer and easier to understand the longer you interact with magic.

Your mind has been seeded with the roots of knowledge, take care of that which sprouts from it, you won't have access to anything beyond basic things early on, the more you experience the more you will remember.

Beware the Usurping Gods, their priests will kill you if they find out you are Mageborn. Throw off their shackles and bring the gift that nature gave us back to the world.

Be careful, there may be constructs still active in the catacombs, and even if I am still alive, they will have instructions to terminate intruders, don't die, knowledge must be preserved.

I know not what you are or who you will become. Treat this second life you have been given well. The Knowledge Must Be Preserved. Guard it well. You are the last failsafe. You are the last hope of the Scholars. You Must Survive.

~Zivak Nelvun. The Last Scholar of Magic.

The note unsettles you, you feel like there was much more to it then just words.

After considering calling yourself four somewhat strange names that feel like they were from another place and time, you are struck with inspiration. You will be Rala Cavaras... You like the sound of that. Who knows, it might have been your original name. Too bad you can't remember though.

You then decide it's high time you leave the room. You unbar the door, and push it open, a metal grinding sound can be heard as it slowly gives way. You can see a long, long tunnel, carved into the earth, your torchlight only provides vision for about fifteen feet, you however can make out the shape of the tunnel for a good mile, you're pretty sure it isn't normal for humans to have that level of vision in this kind of darkness... You can't see anything moving in the dark, but you can see several side passages further on. You mentally curse at the writer of the note for forgetting to give you a map.

You inspect yourself, your hair is light brown, almost hazel, down to a bit past the shoulders, the tips of it are a vivid electric blue, you can't see your ears but they probably follow a similar pattern. You admire your brown fluffy tail, it is the same color pattern as your hair, it's tipped with electric blue, quite fetching if you do say so yourself. Could use a good brushing though.

You're pretty sure you have fangs, pointy sharp teeth, no molars or incisors, you guess you may be primarily carnivorous although you may or may not be able to eat plants, you don't know. You can't see your eyes so no idea about that. You have pale white skin, looks human besides the fact that you can't seem to find a blemish, or even a freckle. Bit on the short side, somewhere between 5'4 and 5'6 you estimate.

You appear to have what qualifies as retractable claws, not super long, but definitely sharp.

You can't recall any racial names beyond Human, so you have no clue what your race is.

Your investigations over, you put your robe back on and begin creeping forward cautiously, you don't see anything of importance until you get to the first side passage, when you look in it, you see a complete human skeleton standing in the middle of the tunnel, looking directly at you. You hear a slight crackling noise and dust coated ancient brittle bones begin moving once more. It is walking towards you slowly with a heavy limping gait as if it isn't fully in control of its body, you probably could outrun it if you tried, maybe even try fighting it, it isn't armed as far as you can tell, but it is clearly undead and you don't quite recall how to disable them. As it approaches, your book glows faintly purple.

You move back from the skeleton a few feet and take out the book, it's glowing a little less now but some of the pages and several runes inscribed on the cover seem to be pulsing with a purple light.

The skeleton slowly lurches closer and you decide that you have had enough of it's crap. You walk up to it and kick it in the leg. You see a burst of purple light and you feel something drain from you, you fall on your back, feeling dizzy. The skeleton glows slightly purple and stands up straighter before marching towards you much faster then earlier.

Panicking, you throw the book at the skeleton, it smacks it in the shoulder and flares purple for a moment before the skeleton falls to the ground. For good measure you pounce on it, remove a femur, and start knawing on it. Bit old and dusty, but it still is pretty nummy.

You pick up the book, it feels a bit odd, almost like it is humming internally, pulsing occasionally. You see that there are several glowing runes inscribed into it. Several pages are faintly glowing and one page is glowing brightly. You can't tell if this is a property of whole pages or just the edges as you haven't opened the book to check. You then consider using the book as livestock, you aren't really sure how that would even work, seeing as how livestock tends to need to be you know, Alive?

You then gnaw on the end of the bone to try to make it pointy by using your teeth. It gets a bit soggy and there are some bitemarks but it didn't really get pointy.

Take a couple ribs and the other femur with you. Throw ribs at things, duel-wield femur clubs. You are now destined to be a magical fuzzy bone-ninja master. May the world tremble before your might!

Curious about the book's glowyness, you open it up to a faintly glowing page, you can understand random scatterings of letters on the page, not enough to actually read unless you sat down for a while and translated. You can clearly see one letter that you can understand and another identical letter that you can't interpret. That is so weird. You decide to flip to the brightly glowing page and take a look at it. You can understand everything on both sides of the glowing piece of parchment, it appears to be detailing a basic ritual for the reanimation of Bone. That sounds fun provided it doesn't try killing you.

You can't remember your past life, the only things you can remember are the last few minutes and random information that occasionally popping up about stuff..

You decide to go down the side passage, having nothing better to go on... After a minute of walking, the passage abruptly terminates at a large, ornate archway, you can see row upon row of coffins arrayed in a circular pattern around a central platform. On the platform you see a large ornate sarcophagus, it is plated in gold and studded with jewels. There is a bowl in front of the sarcophagus, you can't tell what's in it, but you do know a faint ethereal green light is shining out from it.

You think that the gems may correlate to the coffins, you decide to count the coffins before you take the gems. There are 23 coffins and 13 gems. Shrugging, you decide they probably don't relate in any way, you plunge your hand into the bowl to scoop out the jewels. There is a flash of purple light and you are tossed through the air, you land on your butt several feet away. The light from the bowl growing much brighter then before before suddenly vanishing. You sit there for a few minutes, shuddering in terror before you realize nothing has happened. You slowly pick yourself and walk over to the bowl. As you approach, one gem suddenly lights up and rapidly brightens to almost blinding levels. You back up slowly as the light begins forming into an ethereal humanish figure. It has very very long claws. "WHAT CREATURE DESTURBS MY SLUMBER?" The Wraith looks at you and a impossibly wide toothy grin forms on its head. "I've never eaten one of your species before, I wonder what YOU will taste like? The Wraith begins walking towards you, its grin growing wider and wider the closer it gets.

((Think Cheshire Cat but wider and creepier.))

((ಠ_ಠ You are Not shipping with the wraith, it's trying to eat you, there will be plenty of time to try shipping with ghosts later when you learn how to control them.))

You scream and stumble backwards, briefly considering an attempt to seduce it, you discard this idea almost immediately as informations about Wraiths bursts into your head, you realize that although Wraiths can manifest corporally, they are normally hungry, this one seems almost starved seeing how it has been dormant for a while and is extremely unlikely to be willing to couple with you.

You throw the torch at the Wraith, the torch just sails straight through it and it begins giggling quietly. You yip as you trip backwards over a coffin and land on your back, knocking your head against the stone floor, slightly dazed and breathing franticly, you hear the giggling grow closer, its clawed footfalls clicking closer and closer at an even, almost patient pace.

The footfalls suddenly stop, almost frozen in fear you can hear its clawed hands slowly scrape along the roof of the coffin, sliding slightly over the edge and gripping into the side. It suddenly thrusts its head over the edge and stares you in the eyes, grinning impossibly widely. "PEEAKABOO!"

You scream and swing your book at its head, the book connects with a bright flash of purple, sending it sprawling across the room. Your book begins again for a minute, before several more pages begin pulsing with light, one of them brightly. The Wraith screams inhumanly and writhes around on the floor. You just sit on the ground shivering from terror.

Seeing that you have a bit of time, you quickly open the book to the new brightly glowing page. The page is readable after you stare at it for a few seconds. It appears to be a lesser enslave undead ritual.. Lots of rituals it seems, be nice if there were quicker ways to cast spells. It'll need to be renewed daily on sentient undead if you don't have something extra to bind the spell with or have a better spell and on mindless undead it'll need to be renewed weekly. Wraith is still prone, you probably have time to draw the ward and start the ritual. Could use the torch for a drawing implement, why strike the earth when you can scorch it?

You quickly run over to the torch and begin to draw a Basic Warding Circle around the Wraith... It realizes what you are doing and shrieks with terror, lunging at you just as you finish the circle. The Wraith smashes headlong into the warding field surrounding it and shrieks again. It throws itself at the ward in a frenzy, trying frantically to escape. LET ME OUT! LETMEOUTLETMEOUT! LETMEOUT PLEASE! NONONONONONONO! DON'T! NO! STOP! STOPSTOPSTOPSTOPSTOPSTOP!

You begin thinking of a oneliner to say before you actually enslave the Wraith.. You're having a hard time thinking of one. You think it'll take about two minutes before the Wraith has a chance at breaking the ward. It most certainly wasn't perfect, and you used a rather bad tool for the inscribing.

((Seriously people, I can't think of a one liner, any ideas?))
((One minute is a turn unless the action is continue until something happens or something similar, just for future reference))

"Oh, fine, I'll stop. Stop waiting to finish the ritual, that is." You realize after this comes out of your mouth that it was a horrific pun and that you should be ashamed of yourself for even making it.

You begin the ritual, using the book as a reference as you draw the sigla and runes on the ground. You think you did about an Average job with this. Once the Basic Binding Circle is done, you do some touchup on the Warding Circle since the Wraith had been rather successful at damaging it. Your touchup upgrades it it from Unsteady to Weak. You think this should be enough, you reread the words and sigla you're supposed to trace for a minute before starting, best double check.

You begin the ritual. You walk in circles around the screaming Wraith, chanting arcane words and tracing symbols with the torch, both on the ground and in the air. You feel something drain from you and as as the ritual progresses, the torchfire slowly begins burning purple. The sigla you burn into the air float suspended as you draw. The runes on the ground are alight with purple fire. As the words roll out of your mouth, the room grows darker, the only things visible are the fires. Soon these fade as well.. Unfazed and almost entranced in the chanting and slashing, you continue on in darkness.. cold skeletal hands guiding you for several more minutes before suddenly, they release you. You stop and reality explodes back into existence. You look around...

The Wraith is standing, still locked in the ward, it however no longer attempts to break free anymore. You can feel a mental thread connecting it to you. There are runes burned on almost every flat surface of the room and you're feeling rather drained.

"Now then. Tell me h- So, lets get a few things straight here so I don't need to explain how this nonsense works to you several times. I can directly pick up your mental impulses, you don't Need to speak to me in order for me to know what you want to ask, that's how bindings work, it's also how you get mindless constructs to do stuff, speaking is unnecessary. And just because I am bound to you does Not mean I have to subject myself to getting beaten over the head by a artifact that leeches magical energy. I am not under a perfect Greater Binding and therefore am allowed to put self preservation first. Getting beaten with a leeching artifact has a good chance of dispelling the binds that keep my spirit tethered to the mortal realms, and I have no interest in going back to the aether. So no smacking me.

Now as for the gems, I am the only one still bound to this plain. I ate the rest of them so I could last longer, I mean seriously, I have been sitting in that bowl for several hundred years without any influx of energy. They are just normal jewels now, although they are rather high quality and could be easily infused with magical energy and not break.

Now as to if I am under your control, yes, I am, I am required to follow all reasonable orders but am allowed to decline to follow orders that are highly likely to get me banished. If you want me to go kill everyone in a town? Sure! I could use the lifeforce, I'm running rather low and it isn't likely to get me banished. Want me to go raid a chapel with no support? Not gonna happen, sorry, attacking a enclave of priests as a tier one spectral entity with no support whatsoever is very likely to get me banished, if not a absolute certainty. Now if I was a tier five spectral entity, which by the way would involve me eating a good several hundred people or getting a massive amount of magical energy. But by that point a basic binding would be insufficient, you would need a greater binding to get this level of control or some sort of deal that makes me want to continue working with you. Course by the time you are capable of that level of magical energy influx or killing a bunch of villages just for the sake of getting an extremely strong spectral entity as a minion, you should be more then capable of providing a deal or using a greater binding.

Anyways, questions?

Sorry, I've had to explain something that like twelve times before, I've been around for a while and I'm getting really sick of having to repeat myself... Maybe I should write it down or something? Probably will get around to it eventually.

((Part of a little story bit from another character's perspective that I wrote last week in the case of being unable to update due to lazy or tired.))

Prologue: Desolation.

The dry, wind howled across the blackened wasteland. The scent of smoke and burnt meat drifting in its wake. The ruins of a once proud city squat haphazardly on a desolate hill. The charred corpses of men and machine lay tossed about as if they were toys, broken and discarded by a vengeful child.
If anyone was listening, they would hear the sound of a spade hitting the rocky soil, the occasional grunt from exertion, a heavy panting, and occasional interludes of sobbing against the howling of the winds,
If anyone chose to investigate this, they would find a young boy, nearing their teens, clothes and skin blackened by the ashes of men and their creations. Crying silently and as he digs a shallow grave, the corpse of a wizened old man laying beside the hole. In death the left half of the old man’s head appears to have been crystalized. If an observer chose to examine the crystal, they would have noticed that it glowed slightly blue and appeared to have a blackish fog floating within it. From the way them old man’s body is contorted, one can tell that he died slowly and painfully.
The boy finishes digging and puts down his shovel. Tears streaming down his cheeks, he quietly sobs. “Master Nelvun..”
The boy kneeled next to the corpse before he whispering. “Their temples will be stained crimson Master.”
He then pushed the corpse into the narrow trench he dug, closing its eye. “I’ll resurrect you when I can..”
“Good bye Master.” The boy whispered as he stood.
The boy bent over to grab the shovel before righting himself. He walked to the pile of rocky soil slowly began burying the old withered corpse.

You help me with various things, possibly related to killing, and provided you aren't given specific orders otherwise, you can nom on the lifeforce of whatever I say is a target for you. Good enough for me to not kill you instantly if I break free from you, however the terms will be open for renegotiation should I break free from your control... Deal. Good.

Now lets find us a way out of this pit, we both need food. Also, would you know why I was in a coffin? No, I'm not sure why you would be in a coffin, maybe you were dead and there was a trigger reanimation spell that got set off? Although I can't sense any tethers your soul could use besides your general body, so if if was a reanimation spell, it isn't a normal one. You should probably take the gems also by the way, they are rather essential for several types of spells. Good idea! You walk over to the gems and scoop them out of the bowl, putting them in one of your pockets. So no idea why? I wonder why I was there then... Anything else you want to do in here first?

Leeets take a look at that skeleton I smacked repeatedly.Sure, why not. Probably will find something interesting.

You walk over to the skeleton and rip one of its ribs off.

... Why did you do that? Why not?...Good point. You absentmindedly begin nibbling on the bone. ...Was there a point to coming over here?Probably. Give me a little bit to remember....Why don't you just look inside the skull? Should be a hole you can get access with. Okay~ You turn the skeleton over onto its stomach, and sure enough, there's a little hole, large enough for you to fit your fist through in the back of it. You look inside and see a faintly glowing gem. ...Why is there a jewel in there? Crystals hold magical energy and can store spells, the higher the quality, the more energy and the more complex the stored spells can be. Most permanent reanimation requires at least a low quality crystal with several different spells. Temporary stuff doesn't need that but the spell will lose cohesion rather fast if it doesn't have something to be bound to. Fun. Very. Yush. Indubitably. ... Are you trying to one up me with this? Maaaaybe? I will untie your shoelaces. Don't make me. I don't have shoelaces. ...Darnit.

What now?

You reach into the skull and after a bit of fiddling, dislodge the gem, pulling it out, you see it is bluish green and is glowing faintly purplish.

That's a fairly high quality crystal. Looks like it has some residual mana also.. I recommend keeping it so you get an idea of how crystal binding works. It's shiny, why wouldn't I keep it? ..Good point. Shall we head towards the surface? You're rather hungry from what I understand. Yes, lets~ The two of you begin walking. The Wraith sorta is floating and moving his legs instead of walking on the ground.

You feel like you probably could ask questions as you walk.

Soooo what exactly were you defending? Was it me? No, I was charged with defending this subsection of the catacombs. This place has a history you know, many Liche and many more Magi have lived within them over the years. The oldest sections are several millennia old, with forgotten arcane beasts stalking their halls. This is a relatively new section, only three hundred or so years old, last major addition really. Last magikar vanished before it was finished. I do wonder why you woke up in it. Huh..

"So who owns this place? An why have the Magi not come to feed you stuff?

Doesn't make sense to let their security eat itself so canabalistically."

You begin reaching into your pockets to try putting the gem on the book, the Wraith interrupts. I would advise against that. The gem still has an intact but underpowered spellweave in it, the book is a manasink, that will rend the spellweave. More valuable to study it. Oh. Okay. The two of you walk a bit longer.

Soooooo who currently owns this place? And why hasn't anyone fed you anything? Seems a bit stupid to let security nom one another. Currently nobody appears to have a binding to this place. The last Magelord's connection to the Core was severed several hundred years ago. As to why I haven't been fed, I'm sure you can figure it out. Who's around to give food? Oh..

Well... We were able to power the circles right? Try doing that but to the book. Also try and feel out the gem. However one does that.

((You're sorta pooped mana wise till you get food, water, and sleep. You're extremely drained, thirsty, and hungry. Some forms of magic inuniverse are directly metabolized from the body. You have yet to tap into any forms of magic besides your own and a shitton of death magic during that ritual, said death Magic was provided by [REDACTED], you peeps got quite lucky with it~))

Ask the wraith if it understands how to use the book properly.

"Soooo how does this book work?" ""It's both a manasink and a form of library. You need to provide energy to the book in order for it to be readable. The parts that become readable are the ones most similar to whatever energy or the format of whatever construct you feed into it. The reason you can read reanimation rituals and binding rituals is because those were both the formats of energy that were fed into it. When I get a bit more energy, I could probably unlock a few additional parts of it relating to specters and ghosts As well as some other forms of magic." "Kay~"

"Onwards then!"

You and the Wraith proceed down the tunnel. The Wraith occasionally pointing out the direction when you reach a branch in the tunnels.

Eventually dirt tunnels give way to tiled catacombs. Considerably better kept. Probably getting close now.

The Wraith stops suddenly, in your dazed state you walk directly into him. "Wha-" "Shhh." Can you hear that? You focus for a moment and realize you can hear nearly unintelligible echos of speech resounding off the walls.

"-bandoned for centuries" "I wonder what secrets are hidden within." "Quiet. We don't want to awaken additional constructs. Wasted a lot of Favor on that last group."

You realize the voices are growing louder. You can almost hear the clacking of boots against the cobblestone floor.

Oh!
Tell the Wraith to hide! Wave at the people when they get near enough, and ask them the way out!

Hide. The wraith nod and faces out of view. You can still sorta see it. But you aren't really seeing it. It's weird. You try not to think about it because it gives you a headache. Just say the word. I could use a snack.

As the torchlight and footsteps draws closer, you begin to make out several details. The people appear to be human. There are three of them. Two are robed and one is armored. One robed one is carrying a scroll and some manner of writing implement. The other is wearing a rather large backpack. Although the backpack looks fairly empty based on how it is somewhat deflated in appearance. The armored one is wearing leather armor, with metal studs and plates near vital areas. As you come into view, the armored one puts out his hand, stopping the robed ones short. He draws his sword rather quickly and interposes himself between you and the robed ones. "IDENTIFY THINESELF" He shouts. The Scroll one whispers to the Backpack one, you can easily make out the words in the quiet hallway. "is that a human rib it's holding?" "..I believe so." The Backpack one whispers back.

There is no good reason to be pointing our bones at people now, is there?

Just lie to them and tell them your name is Silvara. If they do recognize your given/real name, it might be in relation to something that wizardy guy who stuck you in the coffin did, which they might not appreciate. No good reason to give them your real name, then.

"I am Silvara." "I think."

The armored continues pointing the sword at you. "Why are thou here and why are thou holding a human rib?"

The backpack one whispers to the robed one. "It almost looks like it's been knawing on that thing."

Gnaw on the bone.
You proceed to continue gnawing. "Found it."

The one with the backpack looks visibly disturbed. The robed one looks cautiously curious and the armored one has a helmet so you can't really tell. He still doesn't lower his sword. "How did thou get down here?"

So! I'm going to go ahead and reboot this. Stand by for new thread. There will be a standalone SG in the same world as well. I'll link both in here as I start them.
