Title: Roll for Armok, God of Blood: Genesis
Post by: Eritzap on June 11, 2015, 06:48:46 pm
Roll for Armok, God of Blood
Genesis

Once more, Armok reforged the universe, bringing the destruction of a world, and the birth a new one.
After he created the new lands, he populated it with animal, plants and monsters, filled it's underground with demons, and gave birth the the gods to watch upon the world.
And finally, he created the Dwarves, the Humans, the Elves, the Goblins, ready to write a brand new history.
What history? It is up to you.

I would like to become demon master of goblins. Will make sheet.
Name: Janbyonm'Dknom
Demon race name: N/A (from demon lore from various sources, most named demons are unique?)
Appearence: A humanoid figure which is extremely thin, with part of their ribcage ripping through them. Their flesh seems to be constantly decaying in the chest area. They have a human heart permanently attached to their left wrist, which keeps a steady beat. Their eyes are pure black, except for the very middle. If you stare deeply into those eyes, you can see yourself dying in your worst fear. Their legs protrude yellowed bones, cracked deeply. Their tongue seems to be a black and red snake, hissing and biting. Blood constantly drips down the fangs of the wicked beast.
Personality: A manifestation from Hell, never meant to be on the land of true beings. They have the wish to be a godlike being. They have little fear, believing the few things that could threaten him are other demons, legendary mortals, and angels and deities. They won't hesitate to take slaves and servants, but they also won't hesitate to kill them for even the smallest of reasons. While arrogant, they are not stupid. They will think through the implications of actions before doing them.
Special ability: The corruption of the underworld spreads with the beast. Staying in an area will slowly start decay and demonic essence around. Within moderate time, the area will become a domain for the foul Janbyonm'Dknom. They will be more capable in the corrupted area, and they can manipulate the corrupted domain around him.

Name: The Grinning Man
Race: Human
Age: 42
Occupation: Demon Hunter
Appearance: Though he is undoubtedly unusually mighty of thew, and though he drapes himself in the hides of twisted creatures rarely seen by the eyes of men, most that meet The Grinning Man notice first and foremost his unsettling Cheshire grin.
Personality: The Grinning Man is a surprisingly sociable and reasonable fellow, but he is also clearly unhinged.  Any conversation with him tends to lead to the topic of his one true obsession: the eradication of every demon from the surface world, at any cost.  ...he also has a thing for doilies.

Physical Stats to increase: strength, agility, endurance
Physical Stats to decrease: recuperation, disease resistance

Mental Stats to increase: willpower, kinesthetic ability, spatial sense
Mental Stats to decrease: musicality

((Is this correct/okay?))

Name: Topok
Race: an Elf
Age: 30
Occupation: scientist
Appearence: ((too lazy to do it))
Personality: Like science, so most the waking hours is spent doing it using the scientific method or looking at the data that was obtained by it. he is uncomfortable with the presence of others and will go out of his way to avoid groups if possible. most attempts to socialize with him tend to end rather quickly.

Physical stats to increase: disease resistance and Recuperation
Physical stats to decrease: strength

Mental stats to increase: Analytical ability, Ability to focus, Kinesthetic sense and willpower
Mental stats to decrease: Intuition and social awareness

Yourmaster: Your submission is valid. However we'll wait to see if more people want to try to get that position. The decision might happen after the game starts, so you are free to submit a normal character to play in the meantime. If you are chosen to be the Master, you will be allowed to "retire" your character.

Kevak:You may become a necromancer if a god of death or another necromancer learns you the secret of life and death.
You may become a vampire of werebeast if a god is displeased and curses you.
Both are dependant on your actions and your rolls.

Megabeast aren't allowed.
You may become a night troll if you are abducted by another night troll and transformed.

Nunzillor:Your sheet is valid. However you should bear in mind no civilization is yet aware of any evil creature so you cannot go hunt any demon yet.

Yes actually, I have read reports of demons arriving as the human diplomat. They are non-hostile but their syndromes may be very, very bad.

Reminds me of Nolio. A sickness caused by the forgotten beast Nol, it had the nasty effect of damaging the victim's spleen. This may sound harmless, but every dwarf afflicted by this sickness was bed-ridden, turning off the fortress's productiveness. Forgotten beast plagues should be a thing in this game.

Kittenrot was by far the worst plague recorded so far.

Slowly rotten the dwarf's flesh off over a period of months before eventually reaching the brain and killing the dwarf.

Originally caused by an infected kitten that got stung by an FB. Hence Kittenrot.

having a single demon lord seems to make him quite OP, in my opinion. But, since you included it in the OP, I can't exactly argue for it's removal. Besides, this is DF. I just wish I had more dwarven brothers and sisters. I mean, to start our civilization on Alcohol is a no-brainer, ut I could use an anvilier and a pickmaster to round out the group, you know?

First action: build a still. ((I considered: dig the beginnings of a fortress, gather resosurces for a still, get some food, begin an expidition, or something like those, but common sense isn't really the point here.))

Nidilap:
- To increase 4 physical stats, you need to decrease 3 physical stats (you only decrease 2)
- To increase 2 mental stats, you don't need to decrease any mental stats (you decrease 1)

Generally me:
- To increase 1 physical stats, you don't need to decrease any physical stats (you decrease 1)
- To increase 5 mental stats, you need to decrease 3 mental stats (you decrease 2)
- An Elf, being immortal, wouldn't feel the need to workship a death god; plus, Elves don't workship any god, but a Force

Ozarck:
- For simplicity sake, only one civilization per race are available, as a result only one Goblin civilization exists and requiere a Demon Master.
- Don't forget there will be NPC Dwarves to keep you company till new players become a Dorf

---------------------

I will accept Janbyonm'Dknom as the Master of the Goblin civilization.
Tomorrow I will post the introduction to the first turn, which will include the state of the world, the rolled stats of the characters, and the situation each civilization starts in.
The game will stay opened to any new player even after the first turn, for the time being.

Nidilap & Generally me: Your sheets are now good to go.

Poketwo: You are free to change anything you want until the stat rolls are done. No need to worry.

-----------------------

I guess Elves could fear death. They are only immune to aging.
However my point was only about priesthood for a god of death. The fact Elves workship a Force prevent any god (and therefore, god of death) to be a priest of. If you want to deny your Force and workship a god of death, I wouldn't prevent you, provided you meet people to tell you about such a god.

For now we'll keep the culture of vanilla DF, the players actions might alter that in the future though.

Since Urist and I seem to be the nominal leaders of the Dwarves:
Send some dwarfs to the mines to gather rocks, ore and gems. Send some dwarves to gather wood, some to gather plants, some to fight small woodland creatures. Designate some random dwarf as the chief medical dwarf, and another as the bookkeeper/manager and one more as the broker.

The Grinning Man grins.  He then places the gathered edible plants in a stockpile in the clearing the others are located in, and attempts to help Delekates fell that tree.

Keep collecting plants while keeping a small sample of each species for study at a later date

Janbyonm'Dknom would point to the whip goblin.  "You're my department of labor now." Search for some animals so my goblins and I won't have to walk everywhere.

Turn 2: Resolution of actions

Quote from: poketwo
Find another rock to see if i can sharpen the blade
Ambitias tried to hits his sharp rock with another rock. Doesn't look like it's working...

Quote from: Generally me
Help my other Elves to make homes for themselves while making friends with them.
Takar goes on to helping making shelters, and socializes a bit. Looks like a good start, at least they'll be protected from rain.

Quote from: variablenonsense
See if the branch can be corrupted into a slightly more deadly state by our demon lord's presence, then set to smacking other goblins into scraping together a place to live.
The hit Goblins whimper and get to work with more conviction, Draastignatl is gaining some respect from his comrads.

Quote from: Lord_lemonpie
Use the rock to sharpen the young tree, creating a rudimentary wooden spear
Noah manages to make the sappling pointy, not quite a masterwork spear, but that poke stick should be useful.

Quote from: Nidilap
I will go train my hammering techniques to pass time. Get some dwarves to join me; we need a defense. A military
Urist picks up a decently-weighted rock and swing in the air with it. It doesn't help his hammerwielding skills, but he improves his strength.

Quote from: Delekates
Delekates keeps hitting tree, and makes rests when needed.
Eventually the tree falls on the ground. Logs are now available for Delekates and his fellow Humans.

Quote from: Ozarck
Send some dwarfs to the mines to gather rocks, ore and gems. Send some dwarves to gather wood, some to gather plants, some to fight small woodland creatures. Designate some random dwarf as the chief medical dwarf, and another as the bookkeeper/manager and one more as the broker.
The Dwarves agrees with Mistem, some other were actually exploring the entrance of the caverns before Mistem spoke. They don't have digging items, however deeper in the grotto, they find native copper available for pickup and primitive use.

Quote from: Nunzillor
The Grinning Man grins. He then places the gathered edible plants in a stockpile in the clearing the others are located in, and attempts to help Delekates fell that tree.
The Humans slowly but surely gather plants in a pile. And while Delekates tree fell, a few other Humans were felling another tree.

Quote from: Roc CURIOUSBEAST_EATER
Keep collecting plants while keeping a small sample of each species for study at a later date
Topok puts the plants in a stockpile, but puts a few of each kind in a hidden place.

Quote from: Yourmaster
Search for some animals so my goblins and I won't have to walk everywhere.
Janbyonm'Dknom sees the Goblins at work. The dumber ones are franticly trying to excavate dirt with their bare hands. The smarter ones are looking about felling trees and using the wood.
Janbyonm'Dknom goes a bit away from the slade tower, looking for woodlands animals. They are not successful as the animals flees at the sole sight of the demonic creature.

Turn 3

Each civilization is gathering ressources and thinking about their first houses.

Create an axe by cutting off flakes of an appropriate type of rock (knapping) until I have a sharp implement.  Tie that implement to a sturdy stick using some plant material.  Then, cut down some more trees.

Turn 3: Resolution of actions

Hunt animals!!!
[2] Ambitias tries to hunt a deer, but it outruns him.

Quote from: Lord_lemonpie
Use my spear to try to catch some fish
[2] Noah tries to pierce a fish with his pointy stick, but he misses it completely and it swims away.

Quote from: Yourmaster
Go back and spread more corruption. The animals would probably be effected and used to me if they got corrupted.
The corruption of Janbyonm'Dknom steadily spread around the area their Goblins work, the woodland animals seem to avoid the corrupted area.

Quote from: Ozarck
Direct the dwarves to make primitive tools and gather wood for burning. Where the hell are our plants? Booze won't booze itself.
Some Dwarves grumble about Mistem being too bossy and that he should do stuff himself. Some other do as he says, mostly because it's needed to be done, not because Mistem asked. A Dwarf is experimenting on the anvil, trying to hit a piece of native copper with a rock.

Quote from: Delekates
Delekates keeps chopping trees.
Delekates and a few other Humans collect more wood using their stone proto-axes.

Quote from: Nunzillor
Create an axe by cutting off flakes of an appropriate type of rock (knapping) until I have a sharp implement.  Tie that implement to a sturdy stick using some plant material.
[4] The Grinning Man manages to improve the logging tool into a stone axe that deserve that name. Having a handle should help.

Quote from: Generally me
Organize my elves for some of us to go collect food, others build houses and a few to create spears and tools. I will continue helping build houses. Hopefully practicing my magic in the meantime.
Takar and his friends get to organize the works, the place slowly start to look like an actual village.

Quote from: Nidilap
Continue some training, and get a few dwarves to train with me.
Urist trains, but there are no crowd to train along. They seem to prefer establishing their survival currently.

Quote from: Roc CURIOUSBEAST_EATER
Start making myself a house with the use of magic
Topok bends the branches of a tree into the shape of a roof, and pseudo-walls

Quote from: variablenonsense
Organize the gobs to start building a pit, especially some place for tailors and weapon making.
Some of the Goblins managed to make wooden shovels to dig the pit. Some gathered plants and tried to make themself loincloth, needs more work tho.

Turn 4

The civilizations are now starting to look like actual villages, busy with various work to setup their first main needs: Houses and clothing.
