I don't have the art skills to oomph together a full set from scratch, ok apparently I can basically make a full set by using the curses_640x300 as a base. Plus I can preserve the artistic styles of others when rescaling them (or in the case of GemSet, merely using the non-Square text set he so kindly provided) and so I have done my best to embiggen, clean, and in the case of the Duerer map set, reconstruct text-assets where possible.

I did contribute some of my own designs in the form of the bigasam (big as a mofo) dorfs, seen in an early stage in the Duerable (30x45) set and in their most current form in the Bigasam (36x54) set. For GemSexy I just preserved the style present and made a sort of dummied set so adventurers and such showed up with the right color schemes without requiring the full graphical assets and twbt and such.

Then I took on my greatest challenge, which took most of a week to finish, and really screwed my neck up. Rescaling CLA to 18x27 and 36x54!

So, since I am probably not the only one who likes non-Square sets, or perhaps not many realize that if you are a big fan of adventure mode, and not a fan of it crashing when entering travel mode due to twbt... I figured I would share these because a non-Square set doesn't size down as far as square ones do!

They should work for screens up to 2880x1350 or something stupid like that, so as HD as you want it basically.

All credit for the original art goes to said artists, all credit for mangling it, stretching it, squashing it, and otherwise fucking it up goes to me... my bad.

So yeah: http://dffd.bay12games.com/file.php?id=11247

There are a couple of init issues that I still need to work out with the columns and such, but nothing gamebreaking, I'll be updating those into the file on the link there with notes accordingly, but yeah. Figured I'd put up a display of what the heck I mean by NonSquareMasterRace, and I'll do my best to get them updated with any changes necessary for the new version when it hits.

Also, here's a link to Wanderlust and my script stuff over on github until I figure out why the tilesets weren't loading right and can migrate this over there: https://github.com/maxthyme/dfstuff

Updated with the mass tileset collection and Curses+1 stuff on the dffd.

Oh, I also grabbed the awesome little statue guy from some mockups Dibujor made! Nearly forgot.

I swapped the default Duerer dorfs because I couldn't see them at all no matter what I tried to do with the rescale, finally I got inspired to try to draw my own, leading to the Bisasam style dorfs there.

If anyone has any requests for a rectangular upscale, I can incidentally do a regular 200% cleaned version before the 200% by 300% too.

when they die the letter they turn back into fits the shape/outline of the racial tile.

Ohh, that's great. You do know that you can set graphics to be colored by the game though, right? No need to include colors. Or are you just showing off how it looks with different colors?

I like the brighter colors and I like them to keep the colors when I'm playing them in adventurer mode, when the game does it it makes you flash the blue background, these do to but if you wear a white cloak it kills the background.

Bug 2278 (http://www.bay12games.com/dwarves/mantisbt/view.php?id=2278) annoys me in adventure mode.

". . . if you wear a white cloak it kills the background . . ."  What?

The white cloak makes the background color go away so it just flashes from the brighter to dark colors of your tile.

Change the Kobold soldier tile to 18 and Goblin soldier tile to 171, both unused currently.

Also condensed a lot of the older posts in the thread into spoilers.

Cleaned up some of the diagonal wall connection bits, redid the river/road tiles as well.
Reduced the clashiness of the engravings thanks to some helpful criticism via some of the fuckers over on /dfg/!

As for crenelated?

ARE YOU TRYING TO DRIVE ME TO MADNESS!?!?!

Not even sure how I would go about trying them on a diagonal.

Crenelated, fully rounded, diagonal and orthogonal! 4 sets of graphic sets more to maintain!

On the topic of diagonal walls, you might find this insight from phoebus useful:

Yeah, I actually hit on the "green" method there, but I went about it by playing with transparency layers.

I actually had to fork my own .xcf and make one where I removed all the experimental layers I wasn't using, still has like 80 or 90 something in there, probably more.

Over on /dfg/ there is an anon with an interesting a e s t h e t i c sense who made a tileset with that theme, vapor wave and 80's radness and all that so I upscaled it and trimmed the corners as usual, then while looking at it I realized how to fix the asymmetrical beards to my liking in my VorpalCurses+1 (http://i.imgur.com/ao1GvDn.png) set, so, yay!

I've been meaning to ask you about this. Are you okay with your pack being included in Lazy Newb Packs? If so, could you explain it to me some? Which tilesheet do you feel is the best one that should be the default? Is it still Curses+1 from the DFFD download or is it VorpalCurses+1 from the original post? Should one of the /raw/graphics/ folders from the DFFD download get installed by default – like maybe the Curses version of the graphics folder? Is there a color scheme that you would recommend people using with this pack? Sorry for all the questions.

If people want to use it, sure, I don't have the graphics updated, VorpalCurses+1 is the "main" one, it captures the feel of the 8x12 set with the bearded dorfs best I think. I should update the dffd one though, I kinda forget about it sometimes.

As for color schemes, I have no preference there, I like default with a slightly more blue black. No prob on questions, I just have the set out there along with the various other rescales so I can link them if someone pops up with a "man, I wish x was bigger" or "I wish y wasn't square" type posts.

I think this might work for the color scheme:

Lightrow's or one of CowThing's have a bit more of a bluer black too, but they are a bit farther from vanilla.

I've been trying to figure out the naming system in NSMR:

Keyword    Meaning
Curses
- enlarged versions of the Curses tilesheet
Vorpal
- Curses tilesheets with background colors changed
Keen
- 16x24 versions of Vorpal tilesheets
+1
- Max™'s seal of quality
Classic
- uses round Dwarves from Curses 8x12
Letters
- uses Taffer's Dwarf letter symbol for Dwarves

In addition to changing Kobold soldiers to tile 18 and Goblin solider to tile 171, it looks like I'm supposed to change the pillar tile to 255, right? Are any other tiles supposed to be changed?

Linear scaling vs Nearest scaling:

Spoiler: "2D Linear Scaling" (click to show/hide)

I prefer the sharper Nearest scaling. Linear scaling seems to turn the clean png into a "jpeg". The only downside of Nearest scaling is that it requires Standard rendering, which can't use TrueType fonts or black-space borders.

I've been trying to figure out the naming system in NSMR:

Keyword    Meaning
Curses

Vorpal

Wow, nearest is awful, and yeah, I put those tiles on unused so it won't do anything if you haven't altered them yourself, but it is an option if you want.

Well, try as I might I can't get over how much better Dragon DePlatino did on making a clean rescale of the curses set (http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=161328.0), and the only parts I've found worth preserving are the shading/walls, so I just called this VectorCurses+1:
