Not enough food to go around? Just draft all the useless people into a squad and have them spar by a chasm, pit or magma chamber.

Or draft them and send them after magma/pit/chasm monsters.

Additionally, build a floor that sticks out over a chasm, station the useless on it, and destroy the ties to land. I lost 27 people, but all my recruits moved off to drink/eat. =( I put a meeting place there.

Or use the excess people to make more food?

Or lock all the dwarves you want to keep away in a sealed off part of the fortress with all the food and work the others to build the very device that will kill them.

lava death chamber! flood chamber! carve the celing out and collapse it on them! or do like I do.. :P cut them off from the rest of the group.. and have them build their own little fortress in a seperate part of the map and make it self sufficient.. then join them again when those noobs have become strong hard working dwarves!

Don't neglect the comedy Dwarf Companion solution:  "Soylent Green is dwarves!"

I like to lock them in a large room with a leather workshop, craftshop and butchery.

Then I get a few nice artifacts along with less dwarves.
