er. Actually it didn't - at least skill disn't increase. Trying something new now, with ponds.

It won't work. Dwarves just run away when water breaks through a wall. And the first wall break would drain all the water and all you'd get is unremovable mud.

If anyone's actually interested in this kind of thing and hasn't already noticed it, I built a swimming training room myself and put it on the map archive quite some time ago. You can find images, a movie, and detailed descriptions of it there.
