Title: Making surviving even more difficult

Suggestions please!

Would giving carp the [AMPHIBIOUS] tag make the game near impossible?

Hard to say.  I've never met them but I gather part of their deadliness comes from pulling dwarves into the water.

simply edit your goblins to have a DAMBLOCK of 100

surviving will be very difficult

Carp are killers because they pull dwarves into water.
They won't be much if they're amphibious.  Plus they have LAND_IMMOBILE anyway, which would prevent them from moving if they're on land.
Giving your goblins a higher DAMBLOCK makes them shrug off (The shot glances away.) more of your attacks.  That would probably make them tougher.  Hard to say what to put it at, though.

Spirit of fire baby snatchers.

Well, for reference I set a human adventurer's damblock to 50000, and was killed with no armor or weaponry on in one swing by a champion swordsdwarf. So, it seems to have very very little effect =P

Dragon civilization, with [SIEGER] and all that fun stuff. Don't put [BABYSNATCHER], though, because then they won't attack you in your first year.

If you can survive a 10 dragon ambush or siege in your first year, I salute you.

You got incredibly unlucky. Bronze collosi have damblock of 20 (I think) and, needless to say, are virtually untouchable. 100 is apparently a typical setting for players modding in physical gods.

It's possible you set it so high that the variable used to store it overflowed, but that seems really unlikely.

Now someone has to do the same thing to test it.  Was it technical failure or massive coincidence?  Enquiring minds want to know!

Install the Bay Watcher Arena! mod.  You'll get sieged by goblins AND megabeasts very often.

Isn't 32767 the highest value you can put in?

Or maybe Hypcso forgot to make a new world and clear the objects folder after his modification.

a serious approach to this thread.
add [TRAPAVOID] to your goblins. more fun when those weapon traps are useless to anything but skeletal elephants

New world gen isn't required, since it's only changing the number and not adding anything new.
