Alright, I have talked to some of you forum hosts out there, you know who you are, and it's time to get started. I've decided I am only going to plan one or two games ahead. Now is your chance to contact me if you would like your game to be put into the beginning of this tournament. I look forward to hearing from you!

Nominations should also be submitted now, and anybody can make them(no self nominations).
Who would you like to see compete, and for a bonus question, if you wish, what would be an exciting game for the players to pop up in? I thank you for your interest in this event.

I received a very interesting offer for a game.

It was Dwarf Fortress succession and it sounds really interesting almost wanted to include it but I really feel like the purpose of this is Forum Games so I want to stick to that.

I will be negotiating the first challenge and if all goes well we will begin within 2 weeks from today. It's possible it could be days but it really could be the whole time.

I apologize, however timing is delicate. I will be sure to send you a p.m. to let you know as soon as we're ready to kick off.

I may be willing to host when I finish one of my active games. PM me for details. I'm still a little unclear on the finer aspects, but I'm pretty sure I get all of the important parts.

EDIT: does it matter if my game is an RTD?

My RTD Collapse is around the top area of the Roll to Dodge forum. I will PM both Gwolfski and TankKit with the gist of what's going down, and I'll CC you.

Ah, shiznit - my idea would be a standalone :(

If I continue the forum game after the contestants have finished, would that count?
Title: Re: Forum Runner
Post by: RoseHeart on January 12, 2017, 09:55:07 am
Yes, but unless it is very good priority will be to post running games.

Edit: To clarify, the point is to compete in an established world where there is already an audience or players doing something else.

I believe there's a two-way misunderstanding going on.

TankKit, you are involved in one of Doluses games, yes?
I'm sure you both have that part.

Here's the thing where I think there's a little bit of confusion going on and people are not saying the same thing. Dolosus would suspend you from playing that game as a regular player for 2 weeks.

You would still do the challenge for the Forum Runner there. Then after you would resume as a player if you wished. Make sense?

It was fairly interesting to be a part of this game, despite some of the troubles our contestants had. I was most surprised when I saw a marketable improvement in one of the contestants, which was something I hadn't even dared hope. It was also quite fun to create a sort of god, and it gave me a good starting point on how gods should be in the Web Of Life universe. All in all, this was a gift that kept on giving.

Let's hope Forum Runners becomes a mainstay in this forum. It's a great thing to work with, beginning to end!

As for the first one, it was ok, I kind of enjoyed running around like a crazy person. However, I will not hog all the glory for myself, and I must say that I did enjoy my opponent's story in the second challenge, and it was rather unfortunant that he died so soon and in such a bad way in the first challenge, I would of prefered if that one had gone on longer. Also, thanks to our gracious host for hosting this.

Final questions.

To Gwolfski: Is this what you expected when you saw the thread? What was different then you expected?
Would you be interested in trying again in the future?

TankKit: same questions for you except for you it would be a "champion round"- would you be interested in that?

Liquefied Spleens and Rethi-Eli:
Give a little bit of background to your game hosting experience. Spleen, do you only host suggestion games? And Eli only multiplayer games? What were you doing before Bay 12?

Well, before playing DF and running into the Bay12 forums, I have actually never hosted a game in the style of an RTD. I'm rather new to the whole genre! This has been a unique experience for me, and I think that I may expand the diversity and openness of my games because of it.

In the spirit of meta exchange, I've decided the next run will be in the reigns of Rethi-Eli.

I have an open statement to him on my treatments and recommendations going forward.

Best of 3 is plenty.
Reach out to very popular games, and welcome small ones. A staggered run between the two works best I believe.
Communicate very frequently with a host the week before they begin.
Be flexible. Be creative.

And that is all. I am very eager to see this next stage take off. I will be passing on hosts that reached out to me and who I was in communication with and those conversations can continue on with Eli.

(if you'd like to get a head start you can reach out to him now either posting here or PM ditecly)

Thanks forum!
