Q: I am hosting a forum game on bay 12 that is currently active*. So are they just extra players?
A: Nope. What they do should be different.
Q: What would they do in my game?
A: That is up to you. YOU create the two-week competition takes place within your game.
Q: how do I sign my game up?
A: PM me a challenge you would like the players to do in your game for review. If I feel like the addition would be exciting it will be added to the program. Please be clear of any timing specifications you have(I understand the situation of some games can be very fluid).
Q. Does it have to be exactly 2 weeks?
It cannot go over 14 days and it should last as close to that long as possible.
Note: I would STRONGLY recommend an accumalitive goal(collect/find/kill the most/protect the most/ect) unless you are very confident you can finish something more climactic within the 2 week deadline. A winner must be given at that time.
I'd like to take a moment to offer what this could mean in and for your game. This does not have to be random noise being forced into your game and it shouldn't be that at all. Use your creativity to think of how two NPCs/Entities could serve as an interesting addition to benefit your game, for a temporary time.
Being part of this tournament also gives people a chance to take a demo of your game in while focusing on the trial. Use it to your advantage! Are you creative enough? My PM box is open.
*If you want to plan ahead I will consider the setup.
What exactly happens in this game? Two people go head to head in a series of challenges, but what are these challenges?
Anything YOU (the host) come up with. Something to squeeze into(and perhaps spice up) the side of your own game. Any challenge, whether collect fruit, help or harm your players, anything.
(However we determined the game in question(guess if you want) updated too slowly for a meaningful 2 week challenge)
if you think your forum game would be a good fit. Here's what we are looking for:
The challenge should be able to be completed within 14 days, on the 14th day you should be able to declare a winner.
If the game has an involved character setup, help expedite the process as much as possible.
The important thing is that your game is still fairly active and that it mingles with the other players in an interesting way.
Challenges should be as fair as posible, such as identical starting gear. Favor the losing player if needed to pick.
Even if the challenge takes place "off screen" away from the ingame action, have hints of it, and some sort of cameo.
Examples:
In General:
A. Have them represented as NPCs. Competing in some way...
- Convince the playerbase to buy from
thier shop
- protect/attack the protagonist.
- give one the knowledge of how to get through a labyrinth and then have them both try to convince the players that they are the one that knows the way.
B. Make them an abstract concept.
Make one im charge of the weather and one in charge of the wildlife, see who can cause the most interesting challenges for the players.
Suggestion Game:
- Instead of random behavior NPC allow them to be REAL loving character with real goals in your story, exchanging through PM their actions.
RPG:
- A guest boss or companion.
God Game:
- a couple of poor souls down on the planet with a competing goal.
- Guest gods
These are just a couple of examples, please use your own creativity to weave a better challenge into the game.
While I am actively seeking out hosts please feel free to contact me. If you are enthusiastic about an idea I would love to hear it! I am planning to do this about every 3 months, so if you also want to plan ahead go right for it.
However most of all I need challenges now!
