Title: Dealing with Warpstone
Post by: ANickel on November 13, 2016, 03:20:14 pm
I've had a few starting embarks ruined when I unwittingly designate some warpstone to be mined.  Is there any way to neutralize the deadly properties of it, or am I doomed to pick a sacrificial warpstone miner every year?

Warpstone comes in 3 types:
veins, which make your miner sick, but dont kill him.
small gem clusters inside these veins, that kill him. These look different and are named differently.
single gem clusters inside these veins, that leave solid warpstone gems. Harmless and valueable.

To avoid it: Be aware of your announcements, check what your miners are doing, and dont mine it. Or make golems to mine it, I think that works too. ^^

I did some !!SCIENCE!! on the subject, and have discovered that the Mason caste of dwarves are not effected by Warpstone, although you have to make sure other people don't run near the miners while they're mining it out.
