Strange, I get a plethora of errors when I use this version, I'll keep trying but for now I'll do what I've got already. Anyhow, Libash's daughter Besmar is pretty uninteresting, she just moved to Skinnedseals as a spinner. It's the son and mother that start the chain of intrigue.
Having already talked about Zan Anvilfires, Libash's late wife who died a noble end in battle, I'll take a little look at their only son, Mestthos Clashwalled.
Born in Urnanguished in 941, Mestthos lived with his parents until the age of 12, when he became a mercenary much like his mother. Business was slow for the first century but by the start of 1050 Mestthos found himself travelling all over the world, notably making several stops in Giftorb, Mountainhome of The Banner of Souls and the capital of dwarven civilization.
In spite of his many years as a mercenary Mestthos never took a single life, in stark contrast to his mother, and did his best to stay out of trouble once the First Werebeast Invasion at Silverypainted resulted in war breaking out between the humans of The Kingdom of Celebrating, the elves of The Empire of Buds and the dwarves of The Banner of Souls and the border fortresses erupting in chaos, with human assaults ravaging the dwarven fronteir.
During this time Silverypainted was resettled and abandoned many times, having blatantly become a werebuffalo and weregila monster infested deathtrap, but in spite of this it had become tradition to resettle at this point, as the tavern is amazing.
Mestthos stopped by the cursed fortress in the last days of the most recent expedition, just in time to see several months of peace ended by a weregila monster escaping quarantine and slaughtering almost everyone.
Few people made it out, and Mestthos was the only one to escape unscathed. While he still lives his current location is unknown, possibly still wandering the empty shanty town and bloodstained halls of Silverypainted. For a peaceful dwarf, he's seen some shit.
Jesus, putting this thing together manually is frustrating. Anyways, here's some lore on Libash's parent's generation. Not gonna include distant relatives like cousins etc. purely because this is getting frustrating.
Libash Walledheal's side of the family;
Father:
Oddom Crypttorches, 882-953
Born in The Noble Vestibule, Oddom left to join The Blunt Plague at age 12 and married Asmel Coatswallowed. Later became the lord of his fortress, but for whatever reason was driven to murder another dwarf, a woman named Mafol Stokedpost. This event caused Oddom to become obsessed with death and drove him to find a way to acheive immortality. This was unfortunately not meant to be, as Oddom met his bloody end at the hands of Bridgesunder the Mauve Den, a giant jaguar.
Mother:
Asmel Coalswallowed, 881-1037
Asmel was attacked at age 5 by Mothteach the dingo man during it's invasion of Flywalks, but got away unharmed. Became a ranger at age 12 and married Oddom Crypttorches the following year. Quit to become a dancer at age 28, but gave that up after a year to become an apprentice to the goblin Em Scouredevils, moving to the dark pits of Menacethin to study with him. Ten years later was responsible for the murder of the goblin Aslot Trussmenaces, suffering no guilt and immediately writing Elements Of The Dwarf, . At age 52, Asmel ended her apprenticeship and immediately took on the goblin Stozu Crewedmalign as her student. The following century saw a steady stream of apprentices come and go from Asmel's tutelage, along with several more books, before eventually murdering another goblin, Azstrog Flytold in 1037, followed almost immediately by Asmel's own murder at the hands of Amxu Brushscorpion.
Aunt (Maternal):
Imush Mirrorcolumns, 863-1026
Lived as a ranger in Cobaltanvils from age 12 to age 15, at which point she married Sigun Tradedcovens and moved to Matchtorch to become a butcher. At age 141, Imush moved to Twinklebrooks and became the fortress' baroness. She later travelled to Rampartbridge to take part in a footrace, but lost to Reg Glovepillar. Died of old age at 163.
Uncle (Maternal):
Rigoth Paddleddike, 854-1018
Lived a quiet life. Became a fishery worker at 12, married Sodel Copperape and moved to Moistdye to become an animal trainer at age 13, and lived there until 1018, when he died of old age at 164.
Uncle (Maternal):
Likot Bodicechaste, 885-1020
At age 1, Likot was also attacked during the dingo man invasion on Flywalks, coming under attack from the dingo woman Worrypointy, but escaped unharmed. After reaching adulthood Likot became a farmer, marrying Mafol Stokedpost six years later. At age 68 Likot was attacked by the giant jaguar Fungiices, but escaped once again. The attack brought back the repressed memories of the dingo woman's attack on him as a child,
and seven years later, in a brief moment of insanity, murdered the human Onaf Gildtruth.
These episodes would reoccur occasionally throughout his life. Fourteen years later,
Likot came under attack by another giant jaguar, Choppedburies, and once more survived unscathed. The repeated attacks at this point became too much for Likot, so the now 108-year-old dwarf left Flywalks to become a bard at Dreadseal under the goblin Aslot Profanelauded the Polished Dawn of Splattering, previously being denied apprenticeships by others. Eight years later, Likot suffered a second psychotic episode and murdered the human Zih Brushdove, losing his apprenticeship as a result. It took another five years before another goblin scholar would go near the unstable old dwarf, but Likot eventually found a new master, Bax Maligncreature. Likot resumed his studies for another four years before snapping again, this time taking the life of the goblin Ber Menacedbelted, presumably triggered by the fact that Ber shared their name with the dwarven god of jewels and minerals, who had clearly forsaken him to a life of violence. This time, Likot wasn't found out and finished his apprenticeship a year later, spending the rest of his life writing "Only the Future Mourns" and "Hairs" while teaching his own student, Bosa Roughnesshatred,
before being murdered by the goblin Ngerxung Gazedread in 1020, at the ripe old age of 135.
Uncle (Maternal):
Obok Whispersbolt, 886-980
Was attacked by the dingo man Riskbristles shortly after his birth like his siblings were, also survived unscathed. Obok lived as a ranger from age 12 to age 33, during which time he murdered the human Adet Raspdipped, and moved to the dark pit known as Sesespiders to study as a bard under the goblin Utes Romanceddevil. Obok wrote many books, his last being "Monstrous Coil" which came to him in a dream, before being murdered by the human Pum Steedsunken at age 94.
Aunt (Paternal):
Edem Ringcontained, 871-1040
At age 5, Edem was seemilgly smiled upon by the gods. Her family's fortress came under attack from the forgotten beast Litheme Callusmanges the Spurting Tentacles, and the young dwarf found herself on the recieving end. In spite of the attack, Edem got away unscathed, unlike many citizens of the fortress. The trauma from the event caused her to leave The Noble Vestibule at age 12, rejoining it's parent civilization, The Banner of Souls and settling in the capital, Rampartbridge. She spent her days as a ranger,
marrying Oddom Spiraltomes at age 13 and having five children; Ingiz Scholarcanyons, As Youthfullashed, Sazir Channelyawned,
Lorbam Reveresmiths and Dodok Scholardike.
Edem died of old age.
Uncle (Paternal):
Asmel Lancerhaze, b. 955 (still alive)
Much like his older sister Edem, Asmel survived an attack without so much as a scratch, this time from the cyclops Caverained the Goldenrod Emerald of Judges (fun face, Caverained was responsible for the death of Reg Murkyracks, the brother of his nephew's wife. Small world)
Later relocated to Rampartbridge at age 12 like his sister, before moving once more to settle in Matchtorch as a fish dissector with his new wife, Ushrir Heatmanor and a son named Domas Waningpaper.
Moved again to Skinnedseals and joined his nephew and grand-niece, Libash Walledheals and Besmar Sealentries, and lives there to this day.
Zan Anvilfires' side of the family;
Brother:
Reg Murkyracks, 902-923
Probably the least badass relative so far, Reg left Urnanguished to travel the world at age twenty, after living as a farmer for eight years. Was almost immediately killed by the cyclops Caverained the Goldenrod Emerald of Judges.
Mother:
Imush Calmcrafts, 853-904
Imush had a quiet childhood, moving to Urnanguished and marrying Olon Portaltrammels at age 12, and spending 37 years as a woodcutter while she raised Zan and Reg. At age 49, Imush was driven to leave Urnanguished and wander the Desert of Climaxes and hunt great beasts. She killed multiple giant beasts, along with a raven man and slug man, before being struck down by the jaguar Brotherechoed
Father:
Olon Portaltrammels, 848-961
Olon worked alongside his wife Imush as a wood burner in Urnanguished for 68 years. He left to wander the wilds 14 years after the death of his wife, and killed two human soldiers, Jalew Paddedrounded while in The Fabulous Forest, and Queh Reliefmonger in Dressedescort. Killed by the giant Heju Rightscontrolled the Renowned Powers while exploring The Hardy Hills.
Uncle:
Domas Helmstangle, 907 (still alive)
Survived an attack from the dwarf Mosus Oilmined at age 4 with no injuries (Note: Jesus Christ. Do the children of these families get wrapped in adamantine blankies or something?), and became a jeweler, later marrying Shorast Laborjump and fathering a son named Rith Helmtomb and Libash Robustrag. At age 106, Domas gave up being a jeweler to take up poetry, soon beginning an apprenticeship with the goblin Aslot Trampledemons after moving to Velvethushes (NOTE: all the goblins connected to The Banner of Souls tend to have decent stories for some reason, may look into this later.), and has written many, many books since. Currently alive and well in Velvethushes, still writing poems with Aslot. #bromance
Aunt:
Nish Magicblockade, 896-1051
The quiet child of the bunch, Nish married Melbil Parcheddoor and living as a ranger all her life. Died of old age at age 155.
Had a son named Ducim Coppershimmers in 915 and a daughter named Obok Standardpeaked in 941.
Other Aunt:
Likot Bandwheels the Verse of Gladness, 902-1055
(haven't read her story at this point but the title suggests I'm in for a treat.)
Likot had a simple early life, marrying Rimtar Airpulley and having two sons and two daughters. At age 110 she retired and became a mercenary, staying in her hometown of Flagtongs. After 38 years became Flagtongs' militia commander, spending the next five years teaching recruits before besting seven elves in combat during a siege, five of which had almost a thousand years' more experience than her, before being worn down and killed by Bilalo Thunderbeard, the elven warband's ringleader (What a goddamn name.) She was given the moniker "Verse of Gladness" in death in honor of her service to the fortress.
Sons: Geshud Cloisteredspoke (eldest), Tosid Bootdrills the Ultimate Church (second eldest...gonna look into him too), Urdim Whipyell (youngest)
Daughters: Rith Worshiprocks (eldest), Vabok Angelpaged (youngest)
I'll look into the great-grandparents later, this is getting confusing. Might also do an extra post looking into Likot's similarly-titled son in the meantime.
Alrighty, I've been trawling Legends to find the great-grandsires of this mighty family. This is gonna start making long posts so I'll be breaking them up a little. This thread will concern Libash's side of the family, I'll post Zan's family seperately.
Libash's ancestors
Maternal:
Grandmother:
Minkot Singlesmiths, 824-975
Minkot was attacked at the age of 3 by the goblin Eslome Growthenjoyed, who later returned to attack her again at age 9, but her evidently divine blood protected her from harm. She became a farmer and later married Libash Peartown at age 18, but left Flywalks three years later to become an engraver in Cobaltanvils. She stayed here for thirty years before becoming a poet,
and took an apprenticeship from the goblin Stosbub Sidetorments which would take her back to her hometown of Flywalks. She would go on to write many books, including a few religious texts, but her master wasn't exactly the best influence.
His violent lifestyle enticed Minkot, and she would commit the first of several murders two years later, killing the human Ave Dabblingsatin. Unlike her son, she was never caught.
The next fifty or so years were spent writing more books, including a bestselling cookbook that introduced the novel concept of non-cheese delicacies to Flywalks' populace, until the humans Kimen Tramplemoral and Kazis Honordike met their ends at her hand in 929 and 930 respectively. Twenty-three more years and several unnotable follow-ups to her ill-recieved scifi novels came and went before Minkot was attacked by the giant jaguar Slayersubmerged, but the beast failed to injure her. The attack got the 129-year-old dwarf's adrenaline and lust for violence pumping once more, and three years later she murdered the human Enure Orderroses.
The next three years were spent in seclusion, the aging dwarf's paranoia causing her to lay low. She spent this time writing "The Prime Skull", a religious work glorifying Masami Fogsoak the Sunken Ocean, a force in The Fabulous Forest that was associated with rivers and nature whom she'd recently prayed for forgiveness to. Having recieved her absolution Minkot returned to the public eye and published "Help and Nothing More" and "Shadow and the Horrors", before finally ending her apprenticeship to Stosbub to take on her own apprentice at age 149, a goblin by the name of Asno Horrorcrept the Tufted Continents of Conflict. This apprenticeship would not last, however, as the wise old serial killer died peacefully in her sleep two years later at the age of 151, having never been exposed for the murderer she was.
Grandfather:
Libash Peartown, 830-997.
Libash would live a more peaceful life than his violent spouse, as he married her at age 12 and moved with her to Cobaltanvils, where he spent his life as a doctor, even after his wife's departure. At age 16, Libash was attacked by the goblin Enina Dentedowl the Snarl of Flowers,
but wasn't harmed. Libash died alone in his sleep at the ripe old age of 167.
Paternal
Grandmother:
Onget Practicelabored, 830-985
Onget moved to the capital fortress, Rampartbridge, as a newlywed with her husband, Ushat Tradescorch, at age 12.
She spent the next 77 years as a farmer, before saving up enough Uristcoins to buy The Plum of Dining, the Mountainhome's only tavern. She would run the place until she died of old age in 985, at age 155.
Grandfather:
Ushat Tradescorch, 830-992
Ushat moved to Rampartbridge at age 12 with his bride, and spent his days as a gem cutter.
He retired to take over as The Plum of Dining's owner after Onget's death for a further seven years, until he died of old age himself at 162.
Great Uncle:
Minkot Stillboard, 814-985
Minkot married Reg Bellskingdoms at age 12 and spent his life as a farmer in Sparkleblizzards.
He would live through several struggles for power, with ownership going from The Scintillating Cult, to The Faith of Lovers, to The Coven of Blossoming, before Minkot died of old age at 171. George Carlin would call this guy an "Old F*ck".
Great Uncle:
Minkot Actpaint, 877-1030
Nothing else special here, Minkot never married and worked with his older brother as a farmer all his life. Died of old age in 1030 at age 152.
Great Uncle:
Urdim Fortresspost, 818-978
Became a soap maker in Rampartbridge at age 12, marrying Tulon Bridgedsavage the following year and following her to Twinklebooks, where he became a farmer. After thirty-one years,
Urdim got bored and started scouting around the fortress. After fifteen years of desperately avoiding his mundane married life, Urdim encountered the giant wolf Honestmorals, but was unable to kill it and escaped unscathed. Urdim died of old age a year later, at age 160.
Great Uncle:
Erith Taperedstockade, 842-1008
Erith never married, becoming a miller in Rampartbridge at 12 and a mercenary at 29. He would later enter a foot race in Rampartbridge with 8 others, but lost to Ushat Secretiveaxes.
Erith died at age 166 of old age.
Welp, that's Libash Walledheal's section of this generation. This is getting kinda draining to do manually but I should have Zan Anvilfires' section up soon.
