Speaking of which, I'll probably re-submit Amberly. Now that aliens won't be a thing, she can just be a kook that worships Cthulhu, just the way I originally planned :V

Bio: Bio: The product of a short-lived fling between a nobleman and a tavern wench, Amberly is a young woman from Alvada and a Nun in the service of the Old Gods. The nobleman, not wanting Amberly or any future grandchildren to someday make a claim to his wealth and lands, "generously" paid for Amberly to be placed in a convent at the age of 10, in the hopes that the girl would stay out of the way...and celibate.

While an enthusiastic worshiper of the Old Gods, Amberly is not so fond of the strict rules of her convent. Head-to-toe coverings are required at all times, and initiates are forbidden to speak out loud except when addressed directly by a superior or in dire emergency. Still, there are parts of her monastic life that are quite appealing; the library is well stocked with tomes both magical and mundane, and she finds a great deal of pleasure in being so close to the Old Ones.

As is perhaps natural for one denied the ability to speak freely with others, Amberly takes great joy in reading and research. Lacking much in the way of a zealous streak, Amberly has little to no interest in converting non-believers to her faith, and she's willing to overlook any minor blasphemies that occur in her presence. Her greatest wish - other than making her biological "father's" life miserable should she ever get the chance - is to discover some ancient secrets from before the Reckoning.

Looking at the new Warding magic, I'm seriously tempted to give it a try. It's just a bit of a shame that the new Monk/Nun skill seems somewhat...bad.

Bio: Born and raised in Alvada, Angelica was a woman who had a particular affinity for healing magic. As she aged, she devoted quite a bit of time into her new practice, becoming particularly proficient in the arts of healing. However, as she became more proficient, she realized that her hometown did not offer her much in the way of opportunities to improve further or to even find her own specialties. Thus, she left home and started to travel.

During her travels, she acted as a medic for a local tournament, healing the injured fighters after her match. One of the contestants, Gawen, took particular interest in her talents, and offered her a position as her retainer. After a moment of consideration, Angelica decided to take the offer, both for a secure job of sorts, and in the hopes that this would eventually open the way for her to improve her own abilities.

Her hopes did eventually come true, as she did end up going on an expedition through the land with Gawen and her father's servant Blake. However, the expedition took a bit of a turn after some time...

Bio:
Born to a merchant family of Zeekonrik, Lysander was quick to display signs of being a talented young mage. He studied the various arts for a few years before settling on healing magic as a way of helping out with his family. He would travel the seas with them, being a healer on the main family ship as he studied under his grandmother. She promised him that one day he would be a great healer, blessing those around him with this gift that the gods had given him.

And then tragedy struck in the form of black sails. Pirates raided his family ship one night, killing most of the crew, stealing their goods, and setting fire to the ship behind them. Lysander was among a few that were captured instead of killed, brought along to be used as slaves. When they found out that he was a healer in training, he was promptly set to healing the wounds of the people who had killed his family. He wanted to refuse, but knew that the only way to stay alive was to do what they told him to do. Day after day, he grew bitter and angry, rejecting the gods of his grandmother and viewing his ability to heal as more of a curse than anything.

His freedom was granted unexpectedly when the pirate ship he had been imprisoned on for the last 5 years was raided by a privateer by the name of Ethan Valle and his crew. Grateful beyond words to his savior, he pledged his service to the man, promising to heal his crew for as long as he was needed. Along the way, he started to pick up a few tricks in protecting himself but still as a while to go before those tricks are actually of any use.

Bio:
Born in Alvada, Klint began training to be a Priest at a very young age. His father was the head of their local church where they worshipped the Old God of the Earth. However, Klint was never too interested in full worship of the gods. Rather, just aiding people was good enough for him. However, the church had one that Klint would soon break. The town had always had a pirate problem. There was a nearby band that frequently caused trouble within the town. They would take what they want and kill all who opposed them. It wasn’t until just before he was born that they were finally taken care of. After the town’s abuse by pirates, a stigma made it’s home within it. They despised pirates, and more than the usual person. The church enacted a law stating that healing any pirate is forbidden.

Now that law seems reasonable enough, who would want to help pirates anyways? But one day a battered ship sailed into town, a ship just so happened to be filled with pirates. However, they did not come to pillage the town, rather they begged for help. In a recent skirmish their captain was badly injured and this was the closest town to them. But they pleas for help were met with hated as the town tried to shoo them out of town. However, Klint could not stand by while there was obviously someone in need. So he made his way through the crowd and onto the ship. The townsfolk screamed at him to stop butt he would not listen, instead he tended to the man’s wounds.Unfortunately for Klint his Father had arrived just as he finished, noticeably angry. He relinquished Klint’s title of Priest from the church. Klint didn’t care about his Priest status being taken from him, rather it was how the town refused to help them. Granted their fears weren’t without reason. Tt all could’ve been a trap to lure someone onboard and take them as hostage, or once their captain was healed up they would raid the town. However, their fears did not come to fruition as the captain of the ship was very grateful and took off before the town could chew them out any more.

It was here that Klint realized he could be doing a lot more than staying cooped up in this town. So he took off to find a place to work. A place where he can take care of his needs while also taking care of the needs of others.

However, she yearned to do more than lead a life in the court, to travel and perhaps perform some of the deeds that had earned her family noble titles in the first place. She set off on an expedition through the land, only taking her retainer Angelica and a servant of her father's, Blake, whom he insisted come along. She eventually ran into a bit more trouble than she prepared for, however. . .

Bio: While Vortai was born in Alvada, he was pulled away from the territory by his family as soon as possible due to their concerns about their views related to Ancient magic or magic in general. That resulted on living a much more secluded life surrounded by books or scrolls, all in an attempt to turn Vortai into another desert shaman and hopefully one capable of going further than the others before him. After reaching sixteen, he was pushed out of the hideout with his things to write his own "quest", even if he had no idea idea where to start or where to go.

As confusing as his life was proving to be, Vortai embraced the weirdness of the world and began his journey for knowledge, looking for temples or libraries that could assist him. During his studies an idea perked up, and finally the scholar had gained a proper objective in life; create an army. Not an army of men, but an army of stone soldiers. Clearly that wasn't something that he was going to achieve sooner or just by reading scrolls, so it was time for the wanderer to properly improve his magic and perhaps in the future prove that deserts can offer more than just nothingness.

Bio:
Lavinia is the daughter of a mercenary who survived his mercenary years and settled down in Port Magna, in Alvada. She was always an ungrateful, willful child, more given to getting into scraps with her many siblings, sneaking onto departing ships, and begging the city guards to train her in combat than anything else she should have been doing.

At fourteen she ran away from home, and her parents were glad to be rid of her - though they did initially send one of her father's old friends to make sure (from a safe distance) that she'd found something to help her survive, and to bring her home if she had second thoughts.

If she had second thoughts, she never showed them. She became a mercenary like her father, taking whatever contracts she figured would get her the most adventure, provided they still paid enough to feed her. Given the island nature of her region of Alvada, this meant work on the high seas, and once she developed her sea legs fully, she found she rather liked it.

Eventually she fell in with Ethan as one of his crew, and has proven herself loyal (if still headstrong) in the time since.

Bio: Born and raised in Alvada, Anthony comes from a coastal background. His story is a simple one: like his father, and his father before him as far back as the family can remember, he is a sailor - although unlike his ancestors, he's a pirate, albeit a fairly new one. He likes to drink and brawl, and his scars come from barfights (although he'll tell anyone who might believe it that they're from successful raids on military ships). He is a seaman through and through and likes diving and fishing, but he has a good work ethic.

He's been working for Ethan for quite some time now; they originally met when Anthony's old captain attacked Ethan's ship, mistaking it for an easy target. The captain was unpopular however, and most of the crew used the opportunity to mutiny. Anthony took a chance and asked Ethan if he could join his crew instead, and has been working for him since - primarily as a cook, but he also does most of the odd jobs.

Angling to basically take Baurus's old spot. :P

Bio: Ashlyn is the daughter of a guard and magical researcher from the Tower of Xos. Instead of fighting over or forcing their child into a specific career path her parents graciously let her choose for herself once she was old enough. Perhaps out of a noble pursuit to help the weak, or simply to show her stuff, Ashlyn chose the life of a tower guard in her early years; even if she did admire the raw power of the magic she witnessed.

Unfortunately for her, her growth presented a challenge for her pursuits. Rather than being seen fierce and foreboding her meagre height of five feet makes her appear unsuited for the axe she wields. While her actual strength does give her an advantage when she is stronger than her opponent her size does still limit her against larger opponents much to her annoyance.

Because of this, and largely because of her guard work, working in a team comes naturally to Ashlyn. Mercenary work was the most logical decision when she decided she wanted to spread her wings and see the world. Eventually, she fell in with Ethan and became an able member of his crew despite her size.

Bio:
Born Alvadian to Domirian parents, Maria’s upbringing may not have been one of wealth, but she considered it great experience. Throughout her entire life, Maria had been surrounded by horses, having been raised on the family-owned ranch. They specialized in teaching soldiers, merchants, and common folk alike on how to ride, and depending on the client, how to fight.

When she was 7, having been riding for a year already, she got to pick which horse was hers. Granted, other people would still ride it when she wasn’t riding, but it was her that would take care of it and have top priority. There was a young mare that she had often chosen for the past few months, that went by the name of Ophia. Without even thinking, the young Maria ran to Ophia, and their bond was unbreakable.

A few years down the line, while she was teaching younger children how to ride, her mother was teaching her how to wield lances. While she never wished that her daughter would have to use that knowledge, she knew the importance of it, as well as trying to model her daughter after the legendary figure that she considered Undine to be.

While Maria herself did look up to Undine as a model to strive for in her life, she was never as fanatic as her mother, who worshiped the late hero. She would always thank her mother for the knowledge she passed onto her child, but her father was the one who made sure she was never driven into the hating of Alvadians.

However, Maria stopped thinking she could live up to the bravery that Undine passed onto Domirians when she was 13. She had been out on a ride with a training mage knight, making sure his riding form was sturdy and he could use his gifts while riding. With a flick of his wrist, the mage attempted to cast Thunder while moving forward, only for his aim to be thrown off and having the spell cast right at Maria. She took it head on, and the electricity coursed through her horse, causing Ophia to freak out and throw her rider right off and under a hoof. Maria herself was out of commission for several months, and never taught mages how to fight while riding after that.

When she finally got back into it, she soon wanted to do something else with her life than live on the ranch. Hell, she had a horse, if she wanted to go out and become something, the first part of that was a lot faster. So get out she did a few months later, with tearful goodbyes from her parents and her friends. Currently, she’s trying to fulfill that second part by taking whatever jobs she can.

Bio: Claude was born in Alvada to a family which was chock full of sailors, with a few tiny merchants here and there. What saved his future from being one of menial labor (or hawking wares at the streets) was the fact that his parents were a deviation from the family's norm. Both Saul and Mina were not only privateers, but also part of a fairly successful crew. Mina was originally her ship's first mate and though she had to step down to take care of her children, she and her husband got a good share of plunder during their best days. The couple didn't want their two kids, Claude and his (ten months) older brother Carm, dealing with the same world of violence or ending up in a job with mediocre pay. Using most of their savings, they paid for their children's schooling.

The Nassau brothers had always been competitive and that didn't change when they stopped helping around the house and walking on a ship's deck and started reading books and learning numbers. While Claude and Carm abhorred losing, their little bets and matches tended to be tempered by a friendly sibling rivalry. They were also generally friendly, though they could still get fired up in the heat of the moment whenever there was a contest of nearly any sort. They proved to be fast learners and, driven by their nature, quickly became proficient enough in accounting, book-keeping and, thanks to their pleasant manners, conducting negotiations.

It didn't take long for the siblings to take up good careers befitting their higher learning, much to their parents' relief. While Claude became a mercantile liaison with connections in a fair number of trading guilds, Carm opened his own business with some assistance from his parents, providing information and advice in financial matters to merchants and nobles. The brothers cooperated whenever possible, as Claude was more likely to have valuable intel he could find and supply to Carm while the latter's information network was still taking its first steps. Their competitive nature hadn't disappeared, however, and either hoped to get rich quicker than the other. Intelligent, fairly sociable and adaptable, it looked like both would make it there; it was likely only a matter of time.

The brothers' little race to riches fell apart one day, when a trading vessel Claude was traveling in was attacked by ax-wielding Domirian pirates. There was a short struggle that ended in the pirates' victory and nearly all of the cargo was lost. That wasn't a good experience for Claude who, as mentioned before, was rather competitive and absolutely despised losing. Being unable to do anything when the ship he was in was attacked by ruffians led him to take his life in a direction his parents had never wanted in first place: he looked for weapon tutors, found out swords were considered superior when matched against axes and spent a good part of his money in a marathon of swordfighting classes. He also decided to experience some firsthand learning and started offering his skills as a swordsman, accountant and mercantile factor. While Carm gained a lead in their competition, he tried to dissuade Claude from his new pursuits and still worries about his younger brother.

Ultimately, Claude joined up with Ethan to sharpen his sword skills and provide the kind of expertise in financial matters, book-keeping and mercantile knowledge most privateers could do with.

Bio:
A Native of Zeekonrik, Alain was born to a pair of country farmers with not alot of crops to tend to and not a whole lot of coin to their name either. As a boy, despite showing a hefty talent with magic from an early age, it was not like his parents were able to afford any sort of tutor or formal education, nor were they willing to part with their only son; his father was only growing older, and the work of tilling the poor soil his own grandfather had so stubbornly insisted he could cultivate after retiring from the war wasn’t getting any easier. Almost certain that he would live his whole life and die without ever setting foot outside of the dusty farmlands that he'd been born in, Alain had nonetheless suppressed his growing wanderlust and discontent as best he could, for the sake of his parents and his younger sisters if not for himself. He often compromised by training his skills alone by candlelight each night, working the fields diligently by his father’s side during the day. Eventually though, as the man’s health further and further deteriorated, Alain’s situation quickly began to sour as the costs of caring for the ailing man and continuing to tend a dead and barren field that yielded barely enough to feed them (let alone enough surplus to garner a profit) began to mount higher than the simple farmers could ever hope to overcome.

It was then that Alain made a decision: rather than staying in this god-forsaken place and continuing the folly of his great-grandsire, he would find another way- he would travel to larger settlements and to the cities and he would do what the men of his family for the past 3 generations had barely managed- he would find a way to end the Cromwells poverty. Though he’d spent all 17 years of his life so far on that farm, in that town, wallowing in the same barren dust futily, he had confidence in his skills; He lacked the sophisticated theoretical knowledge of formally trained mage, in fact he lacked most things a formal mage had access to. But even for all he lacked, he had possessed the determined drive to teach himself, using his own intuition, his own observations, studying whatever used and worn tomes he could get his hands on until he knew them like the back of said hands. He pushed himself not only for the sake of one day bettering his family’s lot, but his own lot as well; he would be damned if he lived his entire life without ever seeing the world outside this barren farm or what the outside world held, and it just served as all the more motivation to power through any failure he experienced during those late night practice sessions.

His technique was crude, but in a way reflective of his own mindset; rather than drawing upon an in depth, scientific understanding of the forces being conjured, all he had was his own intuition and raw willpower, but it seemed those two factors alone got the job done, and that was good enough for Alain’s needs. Afterall, a mercenary need only hit and destroy their target and defend their clients.

And so, leaving his parents and sisters a letter of farewell, he set off into the dark one night, following the main road out of town, and hopefully, to a better future than the squalor they all had known. At that point, anything was a better alternative than staying and watching them slowly drown in debt, and any job he could find as a sellsword would provide far more income for them than anything he could earn trying to revive a plot of land that had never been alive to begin with.

Bio: Hailing from the lands of the Zeekonrik, Jesseo's life was more nomadic and travel-worn than most. She was born to a simple family of merchants who delved into the trade of agriculture as well as the study of the animal care. A fervent follower of Undine, she treated her beliefs and the religion as a spiritual and philosophical concept rather than a tangible model of a Goddess or someone to venerate and worship; at best, she was seen as a tutelary deity. This attitude was only shared by her insights from her parents, who were indulgent in their habits to teach and school their daughter, alongside exposing her to dynamic experiences via travel and as a trade companion, yet always teaching a style of thinking that did not limit her curiosity and thirst for knowledge. From all this, she developed an insightful and matured viewpoint on the world, and having traveled through most of Zeekonrik territory, learned that there was much more to the world than piousness, trade and material wealth--a belief she would grow to see later on as shallow, or at least, only the tip of things, which perpetuated the culture of her upbringing yet failed to affect her by heritage and familial blood.

Her early life was that of a traveling scholar. When she was not tending to the horses or the crops, her free time was of an isolationist perspective: she was devoted to the tales told to her by her parents, and to the books they gave her and were shared by the nomadic household. From the genre of Undinic lore to classical literature to combat techniques (like a widely popular book called 'Ye Mind of Banditry'), her personality crystallized into a very unconforming set of beliefs--which were beneficial in guiding her life and approaching most notions proactively; her inquisitiveness and thoughtfulness in her early years, along with her stubbornness were tempered by her agreeableness--generosity, helpfulness, humility and respect.

Coming of age, she was known as an independent woman, though with an 'overtly' modest streak coloring her actions. She was described to be as shy, and meek, though most accounts with her (being in national fairs or markets) state that she had a pleasing and comfortable aura--though this was attributed to her 'worship' and ideology of Undine more than anything else. Little did they know about her true beliefs on the current religious matters of the day, as well as politics of the world. It was between this age and her early life when disaster struck her family, however it changed little of who Jesseo was as a person.

In the early 5th century of the Age of the Seas, bordering the eastern coast of Zeekonrik towards the Wailing Seas was a pirate faction notorious for their general notoriety, Zeekonrik in origin. By hearsay were they only mentioned, and Jesseo's version of why her family did not ply the routes along that coast moved more along the fear of raids. While her family was wealthy enough to educate and fully provide for themselves, they could not afford the prices of a bodyguard or the wages of an aid. In these years, it was only once did they move through that route--on a choice they had no power in: a sale of goods in the neighboring area which could only be met in time if they took the coastal route. While in reality, the family could rather not take the risk and continue their life with their finances in this matter, the monotony of their livelihood was a heavy burden towards which they wanted to break. It was this gamble that spiraled into worse fates. The pirate raiders held no quarter on that day, not even moving for diplomacy or coercion for trade. They were desperate and attacked without warning, and Jesseo was the only survivor due to her parents' quick reflexes and thinking, using a mix of preparation and conditioning to both thwart their attack, and prepare enough to fight back, though with mortal wounds on their part.

With the memory unforgotten as well as most of her past, Jesseo continues a life of perseverance through arduous hardship, relying on belief and her developed skills to continue living: seeking out modest and dignified professions for support, and utilizing her skills for the best of their purposes whenever needed. The loss of her parents acted more like a reminder of reality and her life goal, than any catastrophe towards her life: their teachings acted as a temperance for any proceeding trauma, and steeled and guided her thoughts towards what was good.

She is driven to right many wrongs of this world, and youthful determination in the discourse of wisdom underlies her current goals.

Also considering making Braggadocio a stacking defense/resistance penalty (activating each time he kills an enemy) which lasts until he's downed, as well as changing Bravo to a stacking MT bonus (so, essentially, gain one point of damage for every point of damage reduction they lose). Marlow’s childhood was not an easy one. His parents died of a sickness passing through the lower classes of Alvada when he was young, and he was left to fend for himself. But simple begging wouldn’t be enough for long. By the time he was a teen, Marlow had begun to steal. Mostly food, eventually some money. And he was good at it too.

That was, until he tried his hand at a target bigger than the normal nobles with too much money to spend - this time, one in the highest echelons of Alvada’s society. He was caught as he was escaping the premises with an overly large amount of gold. He was tossed in jail - or he would have been. The noble whom he’d robbed recognized a certain level of skill in the young thief and offered to let the matter slide… if he joined Alvada’s privateers. The man was a patron of Alvada’s navy, and he hoped to see it bolstered when he could. In this case, that meant Marlow. The thief took the deal, and now here he was, perhaps about to get far in over his head…

But that was no way to live. Eventually he grew simply sick of it - he left the city, gathering up what money he could and seeking fortunes and adventure abroad. Anything would be better than living in the slums and scraping by and living in fear that law enforcement would find him and take him in his sleep, or that he’d just die without doing a damn thing of any importance.

As far as I know, barring a crit, Ashlyn can't kill either Soldier outright with an attack, which means Lavinia could conceivably follow up if she needed to. But if it's A instead of D who lives, that means Lavinia has to move north if she wants to attack, in range of Seaman E. It also opens a gap where Claude could be downed again and then the melee enemies could slip by to attack Lysander.

Lavinia will likely get downed on EP if she doesn't vuln herself (actually even if she does), but she's better downed in her current spot, as it blocks off the enemies' melee access to Claude and Lysander.

If it's too much effort to change the already posted moves, I'll probably just have her hold and vuln Claude, but it does leave us with one less probable kill this PP.

Also, I swear I'm not saying this just to win the IC bet. :P

We'll take out or almost take out all the lance users this turn (not including Arst or future reinforcements) so Claude'll have WTA or neutral against all of them, while Lavinia... won't. :P

Also, it's not like I'll complain about getting back up (likely to get attacked by Tukov once more) either.

Oh yeah, and Heal goes to Lysander, as does one vulnerary. If we don't have a storage, of the remaining two vulneraries one goes to Lavinia and the other goes to Maria (because mounted unit).

We can't defend our weakest units. They'll run circles around us, especially those nomads. If we're seriously unlucky we could see each and every PC down in two turns.

If Haspen decides to stand in the open, we may just have to leave him there. Otherwise we're looking at a probable game over.

It's a cool post, but Haspen hasn't changed his move if he's going to do so, and afaik in most cases actions made before a combat action is resolved are set in stone. And I'm not sure anyone else has enough CON to unrescue and drop Ashlyn.

I'll probably go last - if Maria can't change to javelins and rescue in the same turn, Lavinia can swap them for her. I think. (I'm assuming she should change to javs, as while it lowers her EVA and AS, it's not enough to be doubled and in exchange she becomes able to counter the mounted archers.)

Our chokepoint will be broken no matter what we do, whether it's attacking Ghazi with all 5 backliners (probably my suggestion, though we will absolutely lose the map if we miss more than two of our shots, at 70-85% each shot, including WTD and Daunt and Charisma and Ghazi's Inspiration) or trying to move out of Carmen's squad's way.

We can't punch a hole in the cavalry ranks. Lancer E has 20 HP, so none of us can kill him from range two. Maybe if Lavinia moves out of the way so two mages can hit him, but even then it's implausible we can stream past. We'd be surrounded by horses anyway. It's probably even less plausible to try to kill Lancer B and Horse Archer C to punch through that way.

Edit: To clarify, we can maybe punch through if we plan hard enough and are lucky enough. The problem is that we'll take even more damage on EP and have less manpower to deal with Carmen's squad. We should take them out immediately before we're weakened more by the horsemen. 5 shots on Ghazi is perhaps the best chance we'll get despite the sketchy hit rates.

Without considering the possibility of a crit from Ashlyn (3% chance - everyone else is Daunted to 0), I've calculated this plan has a 93% chance of success. Which isn't great. But unfortunately I don't think we'll have any better.

That said, feel free to see if we have any better options.

Edit: Modified plan into simplest form. If Ghazi dies at any point, then we win, forget about the plan and just block the cavs.

I guess we can just do a really slow slog of this.

Edit: Maybe just put the axemen at the second row and don't heal our frontline. That'll force the horse archers to hit the axes and the lancers to do nothing at all.

That...could be dangerous. If the axemen take some bad hits, they'll get downed as well and just reaching the frontline will get tricky. Especially with just a few turns to work with.

We don't necessarily have to heal both of the downed people right now, but we should at least try to stay on top of the down counters.

Plus if we put some damage on mounted archers B and C this PP (which looks to be the case judging from Ashlyn's move) and only present them with people with 2 range, they'll kill themselves on EP.

I dunno, if you think it's worrying, we can, but I think it's a waste to vuln and then have 4 lancers take shots where each one is enough to down without chance of countering unless they miss. Plus the horse archers can shoot Lavinia for free, which leaves us in the same position without putting damage on them during the EP.

...eh, not going to strategize too much. I think we'll be okay.

As for entering changes as they come, depends. If it happens it should only be between maps. Probably not things that would effect the party members right now without that player's consent (so no swapping out or massively nerfing a class skill that a build was made with consideration to without consent), and promos should be similar if a player means to go for it. Changes for classes the enemies have that we don't, on the other hand, sure - between maps.

Mostly because this is a shaman, and you know how dank magic requires a lot of SKL to land attacks due to the low hit on most of tomes. :u But I can't complain about getting a bunch of speed and some defenses.

Post by: Sirus on December 23, 2017, 09:06:02 pm: I look at the rushing plan and I see a bunch of sub-70 hit percentages. That's not to my liking, especially since failure would leave us open to one hell of a counterattack. I know that not all the attacks need to hit, but it's still very risky.

Turtle plan, on the other hand, sees up to three enemies dead, which means up to three fewer attacks to weather on the EP and more people up to take them. The ballistae will still be a thing, but their hit odds aren't the best, especially under the Charisma dome. I'm for Turtle; it's safer overall.

Bio: The Jasso family is one of the oldest mage families in Alvada, and possibly the world, being the direct continuation of one of the old sorcerer families of pre-Reckoning Alvada. Even for a family as pathologically prone to record-taking as the Jasso family, the history of the family before the Reckoning is a very unclear one. All that is known is that at some point the Jasso family became particularly dour and bookish, even for sorcerers, and that at some point before the Greenland project they changed their focus from the active usage of magic to its recording and storage as one of the library families in Alvada. This helped mean that the family survived the chaos following the Reckoning.

Their library didn't quite survive intact, though, as the chaos of Reckoning and multiple wars nearly shattered the building and scattered many of its contents. The still dour, still methodical, and still bookish Jasso family set to work rebuilding, and regathering, and over the course of a fraught one-and-three-quarters centuries it seemed that they were finally having some success in mostly repairing their library to its former splendor. And that is when the Great Purge hit. Being a prominent and primarily atheistic family smack in Duo Alva, the Jassos were a prime target, and the might of the Old Gods' Cult came down upon them. The height of the Purge may have seem some retaliatory and rather flashy murders against the clergy by brave and reckless members of the family, but nonetheless the library was destroyed and its many works scattered, spirited away, or destroyed.

The Jassos came back during the rule of Talo, and once again they rebuilt, but the family now had undergone another change: they were dour, bookish, militantly atheist, and rather cantankerous. Through ingratiating themselves to various important groups (often Alvadan nobles or royals) throughout the three centuries afterwards, the Jassos have survived. They have not forgotten their long, long grudge with the clergy, they have chastised the Tower of Xos for being reckless, and they've at times had members rather vocal about the magical direction in other lands. In short, the Jassos are not known for being the quiet kind of bookish. However, they have once again found success (but more painful, more slow success than before, as so much is gone or missing) in rebuilding their library. Three centuries of work is a lot of time, and the Jasso Library is starting to get as close as they can get to their pre-Purge levels, except that many tomes are still known to be missing.

Fermintxo Jasso was born into the Jasso family, along with his three dear elder brothers, Peio, Ekaitz, and Xanti. As little Fer grew up, he showed magical talent just like all three of his brothers, perhaps the most scholarly of the lot, but he also proved to be remarkably timid, and he found himself benefiting from Xanti's more confident nature and brotherly mentorship again and again... naturally, he became rather close to Xanti in particular. Fer quite contently began his tutelage in fire magic and in archaeology, but then as he began to enter his teenage years the Jasso family was rocked on a more personal level by conflict: Xanti, in a surprise to all, joined the ranks of the Cult of the Old Gods.

The family wheeled on Xanti with a ferocity and speed that shocked and appalled Fermintxo, and while much of the family (including Peio and Ekaitz) disowned and excoriated him, Fer remained very quiet on the matter. His view of much of the family had been strained severely by their treatment of his dearest brother, and his religious views shaken, even: though still atheistic, Fer was no longer at all militant about it. He still had an education to finish, and he fully intended to do so, but Fer resolved that once he had learned the ways of the fire mage, he would have to find something to do -- he felt such guilt over the family feud that he didn't know that he could stay around them.

That thing to do ended up coming in the form of an archaeological mission: The library still lacked many of its greatest gems from the oldest days, and rumors yet persisted that they existed. Fer may have wanted to leave, but he believed every bit as strongly in the dream of the Jasso Library as his other family members, the dream of a great repository of magical knowledge to catalog the progress and creativity and combined efforts of humanity through the centuries, and to these two goals he agreed to go looking for one of the missing tomes, the Armageddon tome. He has been doing this now for four years, traveling the world to uncover and record archaeological pieces, a deeply interesting profession to him... but still not the tome he'd left for. The Armageddon has remained his primary goal and his most tantalizing potential prize, and Fer has been wandering the world in search of it, now. The knowledge, the age, the importance of that spell to humanity, none of these can be understated to Fer.

Cloth goes to Claude. He and Maria are our lowest HP front line people and she has the ability to canto out of range. Plus it'll make the competition between him and Lavinia more interesting if he isn't always kissing the deck. Speaking off...
Ribbon goes to Lavinia. She, Ethan and Fer are tied for slowest, healers included. I don't like giving stat boosters to NPCs and she's on the front line more than Fer is going to be so keeping her from being doubled is more important.
Energy ring goes to our resident murdertaxi. She easily has the lowest mag and this one isn't really a debate tbh. There's not much of an argument for anyone else getting it.

Since this is a significant change, people who want/need to change their build for these purposes (discipline, etc) need to talk to me ASAP.
