Title: Re: Roll to God IC
Post by: Wozzy on October 20, 2017, 10:02:26 am
This universe began as many others usually do: someone was very bored.

With the wave of a hand, a brand new cosmos was created, and within it, a single star with a newly minted planet. As the planet began to cool, the figure created a single pool of boiling liquid. Before departing the universe, the figure spoke one phrase: "Only one will be worthy of ruling this universe."

From within the miasma, 5 figures emerged. They were Acter, Mutaeguer, Digita, Septus, and akeraun.

"Dibs on ruling."

Digita teleports a few miles in a random direction, away from the other gods. She extends her palm into the ground and sends a pulse deep into the ground. That pulse causes geothermal energy to begin seeping up through the ground. At the same time, she begins to convert the surface of the area into metal, extending underground a short distance.

Hmn? Ruling? It's overrated. I prefer and advisory role.

Now though... I think we'll need to improve this place a bit before it can hold life.
Begin working the world so that rather than being a molten sphere, it has areas upon which living beings can survive.

Turn 0.2

start with an aggressive move, and attempt to expand my energy reserve.
"As much as I do not want to rule, I also do not particularly care for being struck down or cast out."

(4)After a moment of focus, akeraun sends out a pulse of energy that all the other gods can feel. akeraun also looks a touch stronger. -500 CP

(5,3) Digits travels North, or at least, what is now determined to be North. As her first task, she takes advantage of the raw planet to cause geothermal vents to rise, not yet cracking on the surface. The next task ends up not being as easy. The ground now has a slight metalic sheen, but it probably isn't as hard, or as deep as she would have liked. -800 CP

"Interesting."

Examine the boiling liquid.

Septus determined that this bubbling pool is some sort of one way portal, but isn't able to figure out much more. They are soon interrupted by the appearance of another god: Alaheris.

Now though... I think we'll need to improve this place a bit before it can hold life.
Begin working the world so that rather than being a molten sphere, it has areas upon which living beings can survive.
(4)Acter begins the task of making the surrounding area hospitable. Rather than hard, volcanic rock, the ground begins to turn into soil, capable of sustaining life. -400 CP

Digita creates a small, hovering ball of energy, and grants it basic sentience. The creature, which she dubs "Binary", consumes pure energy seeping up through the ground and uses that to split and form more Binaries. When threatened, it discharges bolts of lightning in defense. She observes the entity as it begins its "Life".

Only one? Firstly, what proves this as undeniable truth? Second, this could mean only one god, or only one group of gods. So, one does not have to lead alone.

Mutaeguer will create a large, spherical structure with a hole through the middle from from to back, like a bead, and dubs it a Terran Sphear. It will move in a spiral path out from the currently soiled land, and change the land it crosses over into similarly soiled land. This process requires CP, which gods can input into it freely up to its capacity. The land created would differ to different degrees if gods of different spheres put mana into it.

(5) Digits easily created the single 'being.' In fact, it works so well, that it immediately splits into three. -50 CP

(5) You also assist Acter, but in addition to providing more soil, you make it extra fertile. -400

(5) With a little luck, and a handful of CP, you manage to create the first artifact of the game!

Everyone* recovers 100 CP, and akeraun recovers an extra 25 CP.  The Terran Sphere continues creating fertile soil as it travels.

You quickly determine that yes, it can support life.

Out of the portal comes yet another god: Dikaios.

"For the good of us all, I am willing to assist."

Septus pulls energy into his mouth, and blows into his hand, forming seeds for the first plants. Septus tosses the seeds into the air and blows upon them, scattering them. The first three plant species:

Puffballs. A Puffball is a grassy sort of plant. Though it is green for most of its life, it turns white and red when it reaches maturity. When it turns white and red, it forms a "puffball" of seeds and detaches them whenever a strong wind hits. Once the seeds are detached, the Puffball plant withers and dies, forming fertilizer for the next generation. The seeds of the Puffball are engineered to effectively glide in strong winds. Puffballs are engineered to all mature at the same time, so when seeding time comes, fields turn white and red.

Winding Vines. Winding Vines are a vine sort of plant that can spread horizontally and vertically. Winding Vines are predatory, slowly eating Puffballs they encounter and hollowing out the trunks of Smoke Trees to use as a seeding mechanism. Winding Vines will create a sort of pressure chamber inside a Smoke Tree to use as a breeding mechanism. When the pressure reaches maximum, the Smoke Tree's trunk explodes, sending Winding Vine fragments everywhere. Winding Vines do not use seeds to reproduce, but rather reproduce via budding, so the scattered fragments end up taking root.

Smoke Trees. Smoke Trees are grey-colored tree plants that are the only plants to bear fruit. Smoke Trees bear fruits specially made to supply energy for the Binaries created by Digita. When a Binary eats one of the fruit, in addition to being fueled by it, it keeps a Smoke Tree seed inside of it for a few days, whereupon the seed exudes a smoky substance and uses that to pass out of the Binary without hurting it, landing and taking root.

If Septus does not have enough CP to create all three new plant species, he creates only Puffballs.

Turn 2

Alaheris starts creating water to form an ocean.
(3) You struggle trying to form water out of thin air, but you manage to at least get halfway there. The sky is filled with rain clouds, ready to rain down on the location of your choice.
 -400

"For the good of us all, I am willing to assist."

Septus pulls energy into his mouth, and blows into his hand, forming seeds for the first plants. Septus tosses the seeds into the air and blows upon them, scattering them. The first three plant species:

[words]

If Septus does not have enough CP to create all three new plant species, he creates only Puffballs.

(4,4,6)
Creating seeds are easy enough, and you scatter all three varieties outwards. The ones that land on the fertile soil immediately take root, while the ones on the wasteland go dormant, waiting for their chance to grow.

Your first two plants turn out as intended, but you use a bit too much power on the Smoking Trees. Shouldn't be that big of an issue, right?
-550

"There shall be an impartial light, one that shine indiscriminately on all that live. The Light of Judgement"

Create the Light of Judgement, the first second Star.

(6) A fledgling god such as yourself doesn't have nearly enough power to create a star that is as powerful as this planet's sun...so you try to simply create a bright light and throw it into the vortex of space. This exhausting task takes an even greater toll on you, as you temporarily blind everyone before flinging the ball of energy away. The dark storm clouds, which are currently blotting out the sun, do nothing to stop this light, and upon reaching its resting place, your shadow seems to disappear. How odd. -800

Digita, akeraun, and Mutaeguer rest, weary from their previous actions. As they do, the Binaries (thank you for showing me the plural version you desired) explore their surroundings, passively sucking up the geothermic energy. The Terran Sphere has converted another large chunk of terrain into fertile soil, and doesn't look to be stopping any time soon.

Acter uses his remaining energy to bolster his power, not looking to be outdone by akeraun.

((Digita is misspelled Digits in the first post, probably an auto correct error.))

Turn 2.2

Whispermill begins work on creating a vast stone temple to live inside, at this point A building that is just a bunch of obnoxiously elaborate granite pillars supporting a wide triangular prism with a white sand floor.

(4)You create what most would consider a ridiculously elaborate art piece, but you feel strangely attached to it, almost as though a piece of you was within it. That might explain why it took this much effort to set it up. -500

Alaheris continues making the oceans.
(4)After using so much energy trying to create water, stimulating the clouds to begin their downpour was almost effortless. The wasteland seems to sink slightly as the rainwater hits it, causing the water to begin rushing towards the West, away from the Terran Sphere and portal. This will take some time, but progress is already visible. -100
Dikaios decides to raise some mountains.
(1) Worn out from starbuilding, Dikaios struggles with creating a mountain range. In a last ditch effort, he tries to expend more energy than he has, and causes an earthquake! Instead of creating mountains, great fissures crack open in the earth. Soaked with Dikaios' power, the newly made cliffs are shock white, reflecting the light from the star he created. The rainwater begins to fill into these valleys, creating a trio of rivers leading to the pool of water. -500,
Exhausted

Create some simple plants - mostly tall grass, really, with the beginnings of some grains - to live on the fertile ground and to grow.

(5) You sow seeds of grass and grains on the fertile land surrounding the portal. Fueled by the rain, they take root and begin the slow process of spreading across the land. -50

((Digita is misspelled Digits in the first post, probably an auto correct error.))

Digita attempts to increase her power- if she does not have enough energy, she tries absorbing a binary to gain the required power (hopefully, the pure energy of a binary will be close enough to the Divine energy of a god).

(4) Desperate to not fall behind her fellow gods, Digitas attempts to absorb one of her creations. With a silent scream, the poor thing grows dimmer and dimmer, desperately attempting to get away, before eventually vanishing. Despite all of it, Digitas doesn't feel any stronger, but goes ahead and levels up anyways!
The other Binaries saw their sibling die, but are unaware of how they met their demise.

Create Knarves; gigantic and muscular hunch-backed humanoids the colour of bone. Their fingers are as long as their hands and very nimble, ending in straight claws. They have a mouth full of sharp teeth and eat almost anything if the need presents itself, living or non-living. They are supported on eight long spider legs with multiple joints. Black hair descends from their head to their waist. They have no sense of humour, are extremely arrogant and have an unhealthy obsession with building stairs, finding new ways to build stairs and discovering materials with which to build stairs. They are also mildly interested in stars.

Or roughly-cube shaped creatures of various sizes and colours if that's too much right now. Each has a unique set of sunken lines, locks, cog wheels and other interlocking designs so that they form a whole when combined. They travel in great hordes as a hive-mind, connected among eachother so that they form a winding staircase to the sky. Those who are at the edges still grow and when they reach twice their regular size, they split. Each of the resulting cubes is unique, as their parent cube decides how it will split. They feed on light and all enter hibernation when there's not enough of it. Name them Sotrals.

River *Plumes

I fill in the ocean until there's more ocean than land. The great deep is now covered with thick mist and rife with convoluted and unintuitive currents.

If there's still enough CP left, I create small, purple-spotted red creatures that both swim and fly for short distances. They divide to reproduce; their reproduction is fast but attenuated by the presence of other similar creatures nearby and by food levels. They move by taking in a large quantity of water and explosively expelling it, propelling them forward. Having no fins or recognizable appendages, their shape consists of a flexible lump with two tubes on opposite ends. The last stage in their life-cycle consists of them swimming to shore and simultaneously growing a thick exoskeleton, jointed in the middle, that impedes their movement. Once they reach shore, they pressurize the exoskeleton and launch themselves much further than possible without an exoskeleton onto the land, where they die. Their intelligence is extremely limited, their chief strength being their fast reproduction and group mentality. They eat any impurities in the ocean, keeping it clean and pure. They have no name, for there are no sentient creatures that have named them.

You continue the spread of oceans, but with no knowledge of the size of the world, you decide to cover two more tiles in it.
-400

(4) With your last ounce of energy, you manage to create your unnamed species.

The Terran Sphere converts another tile into fertile soil, and turns north. Rain continues to fall, helping all plants grow and expanding the oceans further. The Binaries have multiplied again, making up for their lost brethren.

CP and main post updates soon, just have to double check some actions.
Edit: Main post updated. All CP values are correct unless I goofed some math.

Whispermills calls forth strength from within themselves and Births The Whisperers from their own flesh.

The whisperers are small six limbed bird like people covered in black and purple feathers.
Their first two limbs are built for digging and have strong hard claws for the second set is rather humanoid in construction to allow for advanced tool use and the third set resembles the legs of a turkey. Their heads a rather dolike with the exeotion of a squid/parrotlike beak at their front, the posses a short tail like what might be seen on a diving bird.

She leaves them with instructions on how to build fire and two main guidelines for life before He returns to slumbering withing the temple.

1. Do not make provoke war with your neighbors
2. Treat other Whisperers with kindness and generosity whenever possible.

Walk forth from the emptiness of the void.

Observe all of creation, so that I might locate an individual worthy of being a champion of mine.
That is, if I ever find anything that knows of the concept of valor.
Or at least capable of abstract thought.

Turn 3.2

Digita decides against rest, and creates a metallic grass that will slowly spread from metal tiles onto adjacent tiles, and convert the terrain of those tiles to metal.

[Yes, you did not have the CP on the previous turn.]

(3) Your metallic grass takes root, but similar to your metallic land, it isn't really metal, just hard rock with a slight sheen.

(3) Attempting to create a sapient creature is no easy task, but you tried your best! The result is a small tribe of smart creatures, but not one that can follow orders real well.

(3,5) They have no idea how these instructions would work, but somehow they get the gist that they shouldn't be violent towards others, and to be excellent to one another.

Hmn...
Start carving a city out of the walls of the cliff. I will be butting sentient mortals there once I can.
(4) You create a city carved out of the walls of the cliffs. It looks sturdy enough to stand the test of time.

Walk forth from the emptiness of the void.

Observe all of creation, so that I might locate an individual worthy of being a champion of mine.
That is, if I ever find anything that knows of the concept of valor.
Or at least capable of abstract thought.

Only one type of creature looks to be capable of handling such a task at this moment, and that is one of The Whisperers. 4 Despite being slightly startled, the one you have chosen doesn't seem to fear you, and looks to be tougher and braver than the rest. You've chosen a good champion.

Create migrating winds of ice that will carve cave systems into rock. They rarely gather in large numbers as they repel eachother.

(6) Long, snake-like tendrils of ice begin to travel across the land, creating deep cave systems, unimpeded by any obstacle. As they pass, they leave chunks of nevermelt ice, causing the caves to stay below freezing.

Freed from the bounds of CP, Acter makes a moon, and puts a huge tree and an atmosphere on it. He does not care if this will take a while.

(3) This 'moon' is little more than a tile of rock, with a single tree and atmosphere on it. It doesn't even move. What a rip off.

Digita immediately begins turning more of the planet's surface into metal, and spawning more Binaries where possible.

(4) You expand your territory and create more Binaries to live in it.

I give my chosen Whisperer champion my blessings, so it shall go forth and do deeds in my name.
The blessing I give will be one of willpower and might.
(Kind of vague of what the effects they will have, don't you think? ;) )
For now, this creature will do. I expect many more to eventually follow, regardless of species.

Eh, works well enough.
Create the Saetren within the city that I have created; these beings are sentient, are humanoid, and are driven to improve themselves and that which is around them. They also have an implicit understanding of agriculture, and knowledge of the gods and their actions. After a few months, I will choose one among them to be marked as their leader; they will be chosen for showing intelligence and compassion.

Missed this?
With the amount of players we have, I don't feel like I can justify the type of game I want to play.
Solution: This is going to be completely simplified: no CP, no resting, no leveling up. Just good, clean, fun actions. Eventually I will start a new game that will have a strict player limit, but for now, let's continue!
It's no longer applicable.

Well okay then. Create a new species of plant, the Baiter. The baiter is a long stalk growing up from the ground, and grows a single fruit on top. The fruit is insanely tasty, and has many medicinal properties... and is used as bait. The Baiter can live on sunlight, but its preferred food is blood. Specialized roots grow underneath the Baiter's main body, and when the Baiter senses pressure on the ground above those roots, the roots shoot upwards, impaling the trespasser and absorbing their blood.

End of first Era

I give my chosen Whisperer champion my blessings, so it shall go forth and do deeds in my name.
The blessing I give will be one of willpower and might.
(Kind of vague of what the effects they will have, don't you think? ;) )
For now, this creature will do. I expect many more to eventually follow, regardless of species.

(6) Blessed with your power, the Whisperer grows even stronger than before. All this power seems to go to its head though...who knows what effect it will have on the future of this species?

Eh, works well enough.
Create the Saetren within the city that I have created; these beings are sentient, are humanoid, and are driven to improve themselves and that which is around them. They also have an implicit understanding of agriculture, and knowledge of the gods and their actions. After a few months, I will choose one among them to be marked as their leader; they will be chosen for showing intelligence and compassion.

(6) [It sounds like you are trying to create sapient life, so I will go with that] Your attempt at creating a sapient being goes better than your other gods. The Saetren are born, and their drive to improve themselves and others around them is obvious right from the start, as they begin fertilizing the land around them to start farming. One has to ask though, is there a price they wouldn't pay for improvement?

create bioluminescent algae
(5) The algae you create is quite beautiful, and an excellent source of light and food for the critters of the sea. It quickly begins to spread through the ocean, turning that drab sea into a colorful spectacle.

(4) [How evil]  You create the baiter exactly the way you wish.

Create a humanoid metallic body (like a robot) and infuse it with a large amount of divine power- try to give it sentience.

(4) Your robotic being springs to life, and is now sentient.

Continue expanding the ocean

(5) The oceans continue to expand, reaching an invisible barrier.

Create Pathon, a giant caterpillar trailing behind the Sotrals and protecting them from afar. It feeds on darkness.

(2) Your caterpillar is born, but unfortunately begins to die soon afterward. It seems that pesky Light of Judgment means there is no darkness in the world...at least your stairs don't exactly have a natural predator?

That's it, there is no more. Wait for the century post
