Due to some problems in the previous game, I've taken the time to make a new OOC and will be starting a new IC soon.

[GM note to everyone:]
Game system has been changed, please read through the rules again to see what's up.

Spoiler: General Rules (click to show/hide)

1. GM has final say. Please do not argue with me about something petty. It's pretty rude to constantly yell at the GM because something wasn't fair to you.
2. Follow the Bay12 rules. If you want your alone time with a love interest, take it to the Discord. I will make you a channel so no one else has to see it. I will kick you for not following this golden rule.
3. If you start an argument with another player, please take it to PMs. If you don't and I have to get involved, I will kick you.
4. Have fun. Seriously, while this game is grimdark, it doesn't mean you have to be serious all the time. Have fun with the game, laugh and enjoy yourself.

Characters have 3 stats: Physique, Training, and Mysticism.

Physique is the characters prowess in combat. If you use a sword, a bow, a hammer, or even a sharp pointy stick, this is how you deal damage.
Training is your skill in crafting, sneaking, reaction, etc. This is used when the character must make a check on anything outside of combat.
Mysticism is your magical talent. The higher your magic stat, the more connections to the World line you can make.

At the start of combat, each character rolls their Leylines. Players that do not have any spells, do not do this. (they don't need to)
Once a leyline is rolled, they do not get re-rolled until all leylines are used.

After that, each participant in combat rolls Training to determine turn order. Highest roll goes first, with ties going in order of who has the higher total training. If another tie happens, then GM will choose who goes first.

during each turn, a character gets a dice pool equal to their total Physique. a character may use any number of actions until they exhaust their pool. Actions can include using magic (which do not use Combat dice, but instead leylines). when a player runs out of dice or they end their turn, it moves on to the next player. If a character would recover a combat dice after they expend all of their dice, they may use that dice immediately.

A hit on a dice is any roll of 4-6.

Each character starts with 7 Hit blocks (known as hits). When a character reaches 0 Hits, They are rendered unconscious, and a death check is preformed. If the roll is a 1, the character is killed. if the dice is 2-4, they gain an injury which will need to be treated, and a 6 means the character is simply knocked out.

Actions come in two forms: Active and Passive.

Active actions cost dice to use, and typically are used for attacks, buffs, and other sorts of Combat Tricks.
Passive actions do not cost dice, and are always active. Passives range from Shielding regeneration to gaining additional damage die on attacks.

Any number of Active Actions can be used in a turn, so long as you have the combat dice to do so.

Sample actions:
Active
Claw sweep: Cost 1 Dice, Single target. Roll 1 Damage dice. Refresh 1.
Brace: Costs 1 Dice. Gain 1 Shielding for 1 turn.
Heavy Cleave- Costs 3 Dice. First hit ignores armor. 1 Turn Refresh.

Passive
Dragon hide- Recovers 2 Shielding at the start of their turn.
Crafty- Increases Crafting rolls by +1.
Shield Technique- At the start of each turn, user recovers Shield's Shielding.

Level up happens at every increment of 100XP. Yes, you will have to work towards this Typical XP gain from non-boss fights is 25xp while a boss gives between 25xp and 50xp. Certain tests can grant XP based on how hard the test was.

At each level up, characters gain 1 Fate. Fate points can be spent on 1 Hit Block for 1 point or 1 stat point for 2 points.
At every 5th level, a player is granted 1 Action point, to be spent on a new action or a new spell. (note: Actions and spells can be learned outside of leveling up, usually for gold or by finding a teacher.)

Equipment are used to augment your stats, or otherwise give boons to the character. Equipment can be upgraded at a blacksmith, usually for gold or rare materials. Magical artifacts require a legendary smith, and equally legendary materials.

Spoiler: Crafting and Gold (click to show/hide)

Crafting is rather simple, in that, unless its for upgrading equipment, all crafting is done via gold and Training tests.

Resources for the craft are purchased with gold, and add a dice to the dice pool for every 100 Gold spent on the craft. If the character already has some of the materials, he adds 1 dice per material he has. Then, the character doing the craft adds in his Training Dice, and must roll against the difficulty of the craft. Example: Smithy Jim is working on upgrading a Steel Short sword. He has 500 gold to his name for the craft, and a training of 3, and 2 bars of steel. His total dice pool is 10, and the test difficulty is 4.

Magic has 5 schools of magic:
Cantrip
Words of Power
Mutation
Alteration
Metamagic


Each spell is made up of at least 1 cantrip, and 1 other school of magic.

Each school will just contain basics. Anything more exotic will need to either be discovered by the characters, or invented entirely.

Even if two characters make a spell using the same parts, the spells may end up vastly differently. This is because of part placement.

This is basically the magic system in a nutshell. It’s super simple.


Schools and their basics:

Cantrips - Spell parts that determine elemental affinity and damage modifier.
Umbra -  adds the unholy affinity to the spell.
Sanctus - adds the holy affinity to the spell.
Ignis - adds the fire affinity to the spell.
Fulgur - adds the lightning affinity to the spell.
Aqua - adds the water affinity to a spell
Ventus - adds the wind affinity to a spell
Terra - adds the earth affinity to a spell

Words of Power - spell parts that turn the spell vocal, but add amazing effects.
Maximus - increases spell size, doubling the effect of the spell.
Remedium - causes the spell to remove an effect based on the cantrip when used.
Fortis - Cause the spell to fortify resistance against damage or effects based on Cantrip.
Infirmi - Causes the spell to weaken effects or resistance based on cantrip.

Mutation - spell parts that change how a spell operates. . (this school is almost unknown, as few mages and wizards have researched it.)
Animus - turns the spell into a magical construct, usually in the form of an elemental.
Fascinare - Imbues the spell into an object instead of casting.
Transmutare - Warps the spell, causing it to gain or lose spell parts when cast.

Alteration -  spell parts that alter the spell’s behavior.
Fluctus - Causes the spell to weave past the original target, striking a random target instead.
Findo - Causes the spell to split before hitting the target, striking two targets instead, causing it to use up an additional block of mana.
Mora - Causes the spell to disappear temporarily, instead striking later on.
Itero - Causes the spell to repeat after use

Metamagic - Spell parts that increase or decrease the power, scope, or range of a spell. This school of magic is by far the strongest.
Visus - Cause the spell to happen at the target, with little to no travel time. Spell costs an additional mana block in. Causes the spell to ignore shielding and barriers.
Gravitas - Causes the spell to become affected by gravity and have weight to it.
Spectralis - Cause the spell to ignore armor and barriers

Example Healing spell (since I promised one)
Spell parts used: Sanctus  Fasinare Tactio
Lay on Hands: Roll 1 Dice, on hit, restore 1 hit to target. On 6, restore 2 hits to target.

Spell break down: Sanctus infuses Holy into the spell, While Fasinare Infuses the spell into a being, changing the spell into a healing spell. Tactio was included to allow the spell to be touch range, reducing it's cost down 1 mana, since Fasinare increased it by one.

To forget about their horrid past and remember it as something else. They are a bird in denial and they enter this journey hoping to become the hero they always have wanted to be.

Unholy Aura- Unholy attacks heal this unit twice as much, but holy attacks deal twice as much damage.

Wertyzerty: you have 1 too many actions. You start with 4. Equipment should (starting out anyways, There are exceptions) only have 1 bonus. Fire demon should be set up differently, though I can make the summon for you if you want. Also, don't forget to join the discord, as I can help you out in real time there. Also, you have 1 more shield than your equipment specifies.

The Hunting Knife is probably an exception to the only one bonus thing. I base this off the fact that one of the GM's sample items is a weapon that gives +1 physique and +1 training.

Personally, I would recommend ditching the Big Sweep ability. If your character is disarmed, or if you pick up a staff that only boosts mysticism or something, they would not have the dice to use a 3 dice attack.

As a non-GM, take my advice with a grain of salt.

Yeah, There will be a few exceptions, The hunting knife is definitely okay. Big sweep is fine too, since Disarming isn't going to be too common, and when it is, it will probably be for a plot point or something.

Backstory:
   Freyja was born as the sole daughter of the House of Frostwind, a name that dates back hundreds of years. They "rule" from their stronghold-like estate, dubbed 'The Crown of Ice' by the peasantry, out in the wastes. The Frostwinds have been the foothold for those expanding out further into the waste, to hold back the tide of evil. They're a friendly house, always welcoming any guest to their warm hearth, and to partake in their fresh mutton. They also often pay adventurers to help the further out settlements (which they often levy taxes from), when the adventurous and warrior house doesn't partake in it themselves. Their thirst for adventure strives from the third house ruler many many generations ago, Holmbjorn II, arguably the most powerful ruler of the noble house. Freyja, looks up to her ancestor, and thirsts for adventure as her blood before her did, striving for such incredible honor and title... but she's a little off, when it comes to being the greatest warrior in her house. Anyways, Freyja grew up in her estate, opting out of her mother's attempts at grooming her for command more than anything else. She instead, took up the sword and shield to follow in the footsteps of her adventurous ancestors. Her father (Ymir) admired the combativeness in her fiery youth. And thus, once Freyja became of age, she was sent out to help out in the Wastes, as a true Frostwind warrior would. However, a year before the beginning of our story, House Aumont  (bannermen to House Frostwind), slaughtered Freyja's family at a feast, as the Emperor dubbed her house traitors. With this catastrophic event, Freyja vowed to herself to clear her family name, and restore House Frostwind to the Crown of Ice.
   Upon her arrival to the capital, Freya quickly found herself in good company. Her own party of adventurers, who banded together after an attack against the Emperor's heir himself. After driving off the threat, the party was called to the Royal Palace, and rewarded by the Emperor for their bravery. However, upon her request of restoring the Frostwind name, she was pardoned, to be the first of her house. A new House Frostwind. No land, no honor, just herself. Her journeys aimed to forward her progress toward the Crown of Ice. To her homeland. In her travels with the guild, one particular trip stood out. A trip to the North, to find an ancient relic. That relic, was Winter's Herald, the ancient broadsword of Holmbjorn II, imbued with the runes of the Ancients. It was being used by an undead Ogre, who managed to break the blade's magical properties temporarily. For now, it lays dormant. A shell of its formal self, waiting to be repaired.

Personality: Cold and disconnected, Jagith has spent most of his life living alone in the wilderness causing him to lack most social skills.
Appearance: With a pale complex from living out in the wastes, Jagith stands at around 5'8 feet tall. He wears a large worn-out fur cloak made from several different animal skins. His face is normally covered by the hood of his cloak, making his features hard to discern, with only pale blue eyes and a number of scars to be seen.
Backstory: Jagith was born to a pair of reclusive hunters who maintained limited contact with the nearby town, arriving once in a blue moon to buy and trade supplies. That is, until Jagith father passed away in a hunting accident. The already reclusive hunter became even isolated, no longer venturing away from her section in the wastes and became focus only perfecting her craft, to prove that it was never her fault. With a "slightly" deranged hunter as a caretaker, Jagith grew up never learning most social niceties, with contestant focus only on the craft. After his mother passed from illness Jagith was left alone in the world with only his skills and the small patch of wilderness he calls home.  Unlike his mother, he does make the occasional trip to the nearby town, but due to the aforementioned social difficulty, contact is limited to some one-sided trading and a visit to the adventuring guild to see if their are any bounties in or near his section of the wastes.
