Title: Wikipedia Wars Hub: "To the Victor Goes the Spoils"
Post by: Greatness942 on April 04, 2018, 12:51:54 am
This thread, as recommended as to it's creation by roseheart, is designed to serve as a hub towards different games within the emerging genre of Wiki-Wars games.

Now, as I'm only one person, I need to know which games are which at any one time. So if you see a game pop up, bring it to my attention, and I'll put it in the OP.

I love hubs.

I was thinking, a 'Ready Player One' WW could have potential.

The last Wiki Wars I have noticed were the ones by DolosusDoleus: Adjucation (http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=169342.0) and Dissolution (http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=167671.0)

Considering one is locked and the other hasn't been updated since 2017,  both seem pretty dead

Adding them to the OP. I think I was actually in the latter, so it's kind of disappointed to see it die.

How would that work? Do you mean a Wiki-Warfare set inside Oasis or a similar VR game?

Because, maybe after either Wiki-Warfare or Earth IV: OMAM ends, I could do that. Seems interesting.

How close is Cataclysm?

Well, we're in an in-between round before Chapter V, and I'm not sure how many more we can do. I'm thinking Eight Chapters; Chapter IV was a turning point in the game's story, so it could work as a half-way point.

So, let's just say it's half-way done, to Chapter VIII.

Hmm, I might tackle it myself.

We'll just see what happens.

So for those of you currently unaware, Greatness has just made a new Wiki wars game set in a VR game(you should probably update the first post by the way), with updated mechanics relating to sub-wikis and the player characters themselves, and a bit stricter criteria on the wishing.

Yep, yep. OP is now updated to include everything.

Bump for update.

I'm running a Wiki War, as well

Additionally, Greatness' VR Wiki-War is back after it unceremoniously died from a wiki-war burnout before.
Wiki-Warfare: Virtual Mortality V.1.1 (http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=171893.0)

Also, TamerVirus' wiki-war is, as the title may imply to you, putting heavy emphasis on subwikis.

I've been informed that I should probably post a link to my latest attempt here.

Wikipedia Wars: Involution (http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=171936.0)

Hopefully it won't die this time.

So there's been yet another game made, this one is using the wiki list idea of Random Wikia-War, with the Avatar system of Virtual Mortality, and the game-modes used by Greatness' Wiki Wars, except it's taking active suggestion for new wikis to add to the list. You can find it at:

OhBoyAnotherWikiWarsGame (http://www.bay12forums.com/smf/index.php?topic=171975.new#new)

Join in whenever you want, there's only one active slot left but a bottomless waitlist. And do try to bring some interesting new wikis with you. Currently the list is:

Huh, after months of precisely 0 active wiki-wars, I start one and suddenly there are 4 wiki-wars at once.
How about that.  :P

Artifacts:

Articles you can find lying around. All players have a radar of them. They only have one piece of information, like Mortal Kombat Article, or Weapon Article.

?

Didn't expect this thread to get an update. I should probably link my new game, but I sadly am not on computer so I can't get thr link.

Also, I like that idea, it's actually giving me ideas as well, some kind of bonus objective system with pre-set rewards instead of a wish perhaps?

Since Wiki games are very popular, even meeting their often high player requirements in abundance, and there also tends to be difficulties in hosting them it may be worth putting some thought into reducing the load on a host.

This is what I've come up with so far:
~ less players (less exponential interactions)
~ smaller, more defined map (less exponential consistency)
~ cohost. have jobs like map manager and storyteller.
~ have shorter sessions (to accommodate more players)
