Diplomacy: Research Treaties with Allied States of Aurelia, Pinkerton Principate and CNAI. Trade Treaty of 1 Coal from Sudetnavik for 1 Grain from CNAI.

Request Research Treaties with Allied States of Aurelia and Conglomeration of National Automobile Industries

The Sudetenavik Times

King Nidaros III announced a massive expansion of industry across the nation today, hoping to make Sudetenavik into a research giant by the exploitation of rare elements, of which the Kingdom controls a quarter of global supply at present. One palace advisor was quoted as boasting that "Our nation will produce 27 RP a month!", although he declined to explain what exactly an RP was. A large complex of processed food factories was also opened in the capital, among them a canning factory speculated to be for military supply.

In other military news, the army created several regional commands to north and south, with associated airfields to make use of the recent invention of military aircraft. Not to be outdone, the navy has developed a new port on Crow's Isle, pledging to protect Sudetenavik's seas.

Finally, on the diplomatic front, functionaries have been dispatched to negotiate research treaties with both the Allied States and CNAI, research leaders in the field of aircraft and armored vehicles respectively. Some diplomats were also reportedly disturbed by the new military alliance of the Democratic Union with the small states across the mountains, strategically important to Sudetenavik as they control the critical passes into the interior.

The Democratic Union wishes to reassure their neighbour that these alliances are purely for mutual protection and to promote peace and socialism in the region.

In that regard they offer to deepen relationships with Nations #48 and #51 by offering them grain for coal and oil for chemicals, respectively.

Quote from: The End of a Long Road and the Start of Another — Monte Sawyer’s start-of-term speech
Hello, hello — thank you for your support, one and all. It is heartening to know that the Southeastern people share the dream of the future my compatriots and I have, and our vision for bringing the Southeastern people into it. Us four will make our term one to remember, and will achieve that vision — starting with my term.

It has been a long road for the Southeastern people. The transition from the Grand Duchy of Sestshire to a more modern kind of state after Placid Sest’s death, one with responsiveness and genuine prosperity in mind, has not been a smooth one. Despite the efforts the Conglomeration of National Automobile Industries has made to safeguard the welfare of the Southeast, I know that the Nine-Sided War has touched many lives for the worse, and the effects are felt everywhere.

The Nine-Sided War was a bumpy road indeed, with many belligerents;
The Conglomeration of National Automobile Industries in Sestshire, Firthfrith, and Eaglesgate..
The followers of Chancellor Still, in Tanhithe.
The Church, also in Eaglesgate.
The loyalists of the branch of Joseph Sest, in Aldusfield.
Halson’s Arms Company, in Leaven Island.
The communists, in Dawsby-upon-Whetmere.
Camden’s Agricultural, in Eymouth.
The fascists, in Astbeck.
The followers of the branch of Jane Sest, in Berryborough.

Many of you are likely wondering why I’ve brought up something most Southeasterners know — and the reason is to show that the long road we’ve gone through is about to come to an end. The Church, Still’s Men, Joseph Sest’s men, Halson’s Arms, and the communists, for all they have lashed out and burned, lost the war, and we’ve reunited most of our people's lands. We’ve kept the Factory Cities of Sestshire and Firthfrith safe, and we repaired and guarded the third, Eaglesgate. We rebuilt on Leaven Island. We brought the port in Tanhithe back to busy life. We’re rebuilding the railroad, starting in Aldusfield.

But as I stand before you today, the end of this long road has not been reached. While we consolidated and rebuilt after the terrible damage of the war, the remaining members of the war bickered and battled and essentially brought each other to a base state. Now that we are ready, it is time for the CNAI to end the war and to finally reunite the Southeasterners to the extent the Grand Duchy originally reached — and to this end, the CNAI will move into Camden’s Agricultural’s land in Eymouth (29), the Southeastern Fascist State in Astbeck (30) and the Demesne of Jane Sest in Berryborough (33). It is time to put a swift end to the long road of suffering and combat that has brought us here — because while it is not over, its end is directly before us.

However, a new road is now before us. Through the ingenuity and wealth of Redaxle Industries, Leaven Island Vehicles, Jason Automobiles, Heavy Industrial Devices and Motors, and of the Southeastern people as a whole, the opportunity stands before us to become a nation once more that sits on the world stage, which heads the world in progress and modernity. To that end, as we step into the world I’m earnest, the Conglomeration of National Industries States its intentions: to have our scientists and engineers work with the world to design the advances of tomorrow — already, we have received an offer of academic collaboration from from the distant Kingdom of Sudetenavik, to which our diplomats have sent a positive response. To our near-neighbors in the Senai Union, we have offered a similar deal. We have also sent Sudetenavik a trade offer. To all nations of the world stage, we state our dignity and yet our enthusiasm — we look forward to working as peers, and partners. To our smaller neighbors not part of the Nine-Sided War (32, 31), we offer a reassurance — we are not looking to become a scourge upon the world, and our desire to reunify our country after a long and painful war does not translate to a desire to conquer yours — and indeed we have an offer.

The CNAI declares its intention to reunify its country by retaking the lands of rogue belligerents in 30, 29, and 33!
The CNAI offers Micronation 32 an offer of chemicals in exchange for its Rares, granting it industrial capacity in exchange for scientific experiment materials the CNAI is better positioned to make use of than it is (actually wait no this needs to happen next turn).
The CNAI accepts the research treaty from Sudetenavik and offers a trade of CNAI grain for Sudetenavik coal.
The CNAI offers the Senai Union a research treaty.

Excerpt from Board of Trade Report, Mid-1909

...it is something of a poorly kept secret that Sudetenavik's economic weakness lies in the agrarian sectors. Unlike the vast fertile fields of our southern neighbour the Principate, the Kingdom's only source of consistent agricultural surplus lie in the Sud River Delta, just outside the capital - a factor that helped the first Kings conquer the western coasts by weight of numbers. In the modern age, innovations in food preservation have helped fatten our shamefully low food stockpiles, albeit not by much.

To fulfil the King's lofty (but entirely wise and achievable, glory be in his grasp!) goals of a world-class army, there is simply no alternative to finding further sources of grain, whether by the sword or by the scales. The proposed trade treaty by CNAI falls into the latter category, and they are asking for coal in return, a resource we have in abundance. Industrialisation master plans will not be unduly affected by the trade of coal, owing to the recent opening of the Nordholm Chemical Complex boosting national productivity. The Palace Ministers for the Army and the Interior may wish to take note of the strategic vulnerability presented if either the Kingdom or CNAI are cut off from seaborne trade, or if relations should take a turn for the worse, but it is the opinion of this Board that the Kingdom should accept this fortuitous deal.

In the following sections, we present our analysis of why CNAI should offer us this trade, when by all accounts their agrarian situation is no better than the Kingdom's. Two major theories are elucidated, the first pertaining to their equally pressing need for coal to industrialise, and the second pertaining to the possible military value of these new automotive inventions, called "tanks"...

They were to be retrofitted as bomber-transports, with their holds being able to transport logistical aid and important personnel nationwide.

The Leaven Island Gazette
Allied States of Aurelia Declares Alliance with Berryborough!
A piece of diplomatic news has roiled many of the politically-interested sectors of Southeastern society and here at the Leaven Island Gazette we are dedicated to bringing this international incident to you as well.

After President Monte Sawyer's announcement of the plan to reunite the Southeast, the Allied States of Aurelia launched a flurry of activity regarding The Demesne of Jane Sest, the nearest of the micronations to Aurelia, sitting in Berryborough (33). Firstly, they announced a military alliance with Berryborough, thusly announcing their intent to side with the county in any military conflict... made after Sawyer's public declaration of intent towards the former Sestshire territory. Then Aurelia announced the retrofitting of civilian aircraft to bombers, sending them to the Demesne. But that was not the only action Aurelia took -- it sent a missive to every nation it could and told them to be prepared for an incoming conflict.

President Sawyer was quoted in a press conference as saying the following in response: "Truth be told, I'm not terribly surprised. I've thought about this possibility a lot -- some nations, particularly the Allied States of Aurelia given its size, would benefit quite a bit from having the former pieces of our peoples' territory fragmented, in their sphere of influence, and with said fragments' resources at their beck and call. From a standpoint of geopolitics and power, I almost can't blame Aurelia for moving to prevent our reunification -- it would be difficult for them to have to deal with a reunited Southeast under the CNAI as a neighbor, because we would have no reason to have a subordinate relationship and would be harder to extract treaties from.

However, I was prepared for this possibility from the start. I am a thinking man, and I rarely make a decision without having spent considerable time mulling over the consequences of what may follow. And from the very beginning I knew that reunification would be a controversial prospect to those who stand to lose politically. When I considered that, I considered that the future of my people was at stake, our ability to finally end the Nine-Sided War and move on, and I knew that we had to go on anyway. Thusly I provide this statement towards Aurelia: I do not particularly wish war with your country. I will also not seek to escalate conflict significantly beyond the borders of Berryborough if it does occur. But the Conglomeration of National Automobile Industries, and indeed the Southeastern people as a whole, will not be deterred, and we will reunite our people. Make your response accordingly.”

Missive from King Nidaros III

Dear Mr Petrov,

I regret to inform you that the Kingdom of Sudetenavik rejects your offer of a research treaty and alliance. Believe me, while I would like to make my kingdom even more of a research giant than it already is, the Palace Minister for Diplomacy informs me that we already have four other treaties with other nations and are at our "treaty limit". Whatever that means.

Yours sincerely,
King Nidaros III

Quote from: Excerpt from interview with Sgt. Joseph “Millet” Thompson, in the monthly magazine “Voices From the Front”
...well, in a way actually being there was... well, if I’m going to be honest with you, it was anticlimactic. President goes making grand speeches about the reunification effort, you’ve got the other corporates up there making all sorts of hand gestures and potches about how great the new combat au-to-mo-biles they have are, but we didn’t see hide nor hair of them when we marched out. Now, another sergeant friend of mine up in Leaven Island marching out on Camden says his men saw glimpses of the factories and some of the things being put together, but those of us deploying from D-u-W? Nothin’.

Just a bunch of men, me and my guys and everyone else marching out through some grain fields. Felt like we were stuck a century in the past almost. Now, I found the fields down there heartening — I’m a farmer’s boy, coming on down from Aldusfield, and the big crops of grain the fascists had down there in Astbeck made me optimistic at first. Corn, Wheat, Rye, Flax, Millet, you name it, they had it down there. You don’t usually see this thing down here in the CNAI lands, because we snagged the industrial heartland, not the agricultural one, except for Aldusfield, see, and when you’ve been through the famines in the War as a kid, well, it looks like a bounty of wealth.

Wasn’t quite the same thing once we got to the cities and towns there, much as I’d have hoped it would. The grain company, the fascists, and the royalists really seem to have been tearing each other apart down there — we got there, third of the buildings down there had been burned out for months and the big ones were completely, well, I’m not going to use impolite language but it was bad. They didn’t even throw rocks at us, I think the people down there were about as tired of the fascists as we were, and they wanted things to be over like we did. So we just... walked right on in to this disaster, and my buddy tells me the same thing went down at Eymouth. Hoping things get better for them up here.

‘Least the farmers seemed to be doing well.

The CNAI spawns tanks at all 4 factories (22/Eaglesgate, 28/Leaven Island, 25/Sestshire, 26/Firthfrith), Troops at the HQ at 25/Sestshire, and a Navy at 24/Tanhithe!
The Navy docked at 24/Tanhithe moves into Sea Province H/The Southeast Cape!
The Troops at 27/Dawsby-upon Whetmere move to 30/Astbeck! The Troops at 28/Leaven Island move to 29/Eymouth! except APPARENTLY NOT because micronations are getting retroactively repopulated so the troops aren’t going anywhere for now
The CNAI creates Factories at 24/Tanhithe, 23/Aldusfield, and 27/Dawsby-upon-Whetmere.
The CNAI begins research on Petroleum Refining.

@Pinkerton:

The weak Senaians could do nothing to stop their capital from being taken by the Pinkerton's superior tactical planning! The Senai's must relocate their government to a safer position.

Ok let's do this!

Placing Units

> Spawn as many armes as possible at #40

Airfield Targets
> Bombers from #40, target Fortifications at #39

Moving Units
> 1 army from #40, attack #39

Provincial Improvements
> Port at #37
> Mil HQ at #34
> Factory at #36

> Mil HQ at #39
> Factory at #39
> Airfield at #39

IF I CAN NOT BUILD ON A PRESUMED CAPTURED REGION, replace the orders focusing on #39 with:
> Academy at 36
> Academy at 34
> Military HQ at 37

All other things.

> Research Primitive Tanks!
> Shove a Military Alliance to #32, because I totally forgot I had 6 max treaties instead of 4!

> Asking the GM: If we believe we can capture a territory, or an attack is uncontested, may we be able to build (stating in the same post as the attack) PIs on it? (And conditionally say otherwise if on a failure if it is contested)
