Title: Uh, My countess went missing....

She wasn't on any military squads and while I have been sending stressed out dwarves to other settlements, she wasn't one of them... But I loaded a save and she was gone. Did I miss something?

You can move this topic to Dwarf Mode Discussion using the "move" button at the bottom left of the page. More people who might be able to help you will see your question that way.

Is she listed in your Missing/Deceased list? Does she show up in the slab engraving menu? If so, try engraving her a memorial and reading it-- that should give you some answers.

She isn't among the dead and I can't memorialize her... I don't know what happened. For now, her old offices are going to the captain of the guard until I know what is happening.

Could she have been smashed by a bridge? Did you exile her by accident?

Did you banish (send to another settlement) any of her family members?
Families all leave together. (Although you normally get a list warning you of this)

You could try looking her up in Legends Mode to see if that sheds some light on the issue.

I'll make a copy and check legends but I didn't see her on any of those lists when I banished people... If she is still gone when the traders from the homeland next come will they give me a new one?

Edit:Checked legends, which by the way showed me that neither side of this war is entirely goblin or Dwarf anymore which I think may actually cause me to create the necessary ethnic cleansing demi-god hero like in old norse myths, but I had sent her to another settlement by accident and apparently they didn't want the person who was in her family either because she went to another one after that.
