What does kindred spirit and close friend mean during the relationships screen

With the relationship rework, there's way more ways critters can form bonds than there were before. I would assume that the specific category has to do with details. Kindred spirits would have similar values or personalities, battle brothers fought in the same conflict, etc.

Unless you were asking about the specific triggers and thresholds to determine which relationship tag they get, in which case it might be time for some science.
