So another strange one from my nice little fortress.
I build huge piles above ground for everything. Including wood. All filled up nice.
So now I am moving everything into my temporary underground fortress.
All new stockpiles fill nicely. But not the wood one. Even if I put all 17 dwarves to woodhauling. I tried making a wood pile at the spot of the old woodpiles. It also doesn't get filled. The carpenter does go above ground to bring wood down.
So do I have to abandon fortress :( *snif* and start again?

resolved .... I must have changed something in the o(rders) section. Although I have never entered it this game :p

Yeah it is possible to disable woodhauling through the orders menu. You can easily do it by mistake when you need the orders for workshops.

I'm so glad you posted this. My fort was having wood hauling problems and I was trying to figure it out but having no luck yet. It turned out I had accidentally set "Dwarves Ignore Wood" in the orders menu.

Don't worry about wood hauling
Build your fortress further and there are always some dwarfs who are woodhauling
Perhaps you must use Dwarftherapist to see what haulingjobs are "on "
It easy to then do some haulingjobs later
For instance for your Miner, Carpenter, Mason it is not a good idea if they doing all haulingjobs, because they have to focus on their own job, because you must dig , making workshops etc.
A brewer and cook for only drink and food production in order to get no shortages ( lurking in your fortress..beware)
