Title: Pedestals
Post by: Leonidas on July 30, 2020, 04:14:25 pm
I have a pedestal with many items on it. In fortress mode, is there any way to remove one item and leave the rest?

I thought the menu where you add stuff also allowed you to remove items?

Yes, it does. That's what I was missing.

It can technically hold many things at once, just manage its inventory of items and de-select them from the list when you dont want them on the pedestal anymore. No need to do anything subversive like forbidding the material (on the contrary check dwarves can remove the objects)

Oh, I know. That's my problem. I've got thousands of things on nine pedestals. Unfortunately, the normal method doesn't work for me. Those items were placed onto the pedestals by adventurers, so they are tagged as in the pedestal but not on display. I can get them back by unbuilding the pedestal, but that would create an item explosion that would take months for my tiny population to clean up.

Next time I do this adventure-mode-to-fortress-mode game, I'm building a lot more pedestals.

Do keep on doing what you're doing, though...

If you create a stockpile under all the items, your dwarfs will not need to clean up the item explosion.
