Over in Official Tileset Discussion people were talking about tiles for ghosts, and possibly having them be visibly clothed as they were when they died. This thread isn't about that issue, but it did inspire me to suggest a possible feature instead!
Basically the idea is that ghosts could appear wearing or holding items associated with them or their death. Maybe a murdered dwarf returns as a ghost wearing ethereal versions of the same bloodstained clothes as when she died. Or maybe they could be holding items which they have an emotional bond to, like a swordsdwarf clinging to his weapon, or the creator of an artifact appearing to hold a copy of it.

Maybe one could get hold of this items. Necromancers raising a great hero of ancient times to get the ethereal spirit of his sword. Maybe some exceptional items also have spirits when they get destroyed.

Perhaps, a spectral dwarf could appear holding the instrument of their death. For example, a deceased noble , or a cheesemaker could appear holding a lever...

It would also be cool if they would seek out items they liked, like a sword they were attached to and start carrying it around. I see on the wiki some ghost types hide items, so maybe that would just be a new type of ghost- like a Greedy ghost that starts stealing things and won't drop them until they are put to rest.
