Title: how to pile up items?

I trained throwing with food. My inventory looked like:

.jaguar meat[5]

After picking up the items I see every single item listed:

.jaguar meat
.jaguar meat
.jaguar meat
.jaguar meat
.jaguar meat

Is there a way to pile them up? It is kinda annoying to scroll pages of same items...

You can't restack items in adventure mode, just like dwarves can't restack items in dwarf mode.
