Title: How to make dwarves put giant creature meat into barrels?
Post by: Magmacube_tr on September 15, 2022, 04:23:28 pm
I have bought and butchered about 4 different giant animals for food. But the dwarves, after hauling the meats to the correct stockpile, just completely ignore them. There is a 123 stack of giant moose meat, 56 gigantic panda meat, 31 giant snail meat and 35 giant cougar meat, all unbarreled, and sitting untouched in the food stockpile.

How do I get the dorfs to cook them up instead of asparagus and bayberries?

The stacks probably are too big to fit into a barrel.

To get them cooked, link the kitchen to a stockpile that contains only those meats. But, they still won't fit in a barrel.

Yeah, the limit is 30 meat per barrel (https://dwarffortresswiki.org/index.php/DF2014:Barrel).

Okay I solved it. Temporarily banning everything except them from being cooked worked. Dorfs produced some real large stacks of roasts with those.

I like to imagine the moose meat is representative of, like, a big ol moose thigh. so literally unable to fit..

bit of an odd restriction considering how bins work but , well, its DF

Ingredients closer to the kitchen are chosen first.
