Title: Milking?
Post by: icefyre on September 20, 2022, 10:23:33 pm
Hello,

I've tethered a female Yak and have successfully had one of the dwarves milk her but then at other times I get an error saying "No animal"
which I assume means that the Yak is out of milk? Do animals run out of milk in DF? Is there a way to see whether an animal is ready to be milked?

Thanks!

Each animal can only be milked so often, for most of them it's every 17 "days".

So… if you have at least 17 milkable animals and you set up a standing work order to milk 1 animal (checked daily, restarts if completed), it should work just fine.

How many female dwarves does the average fortress have again?

The users mention milking sapients.
DerMeister's profile shudders and begins to move!
