Title: Are Trained/tamed animals available to your population

I seem to recall reading some time ago that if your culture is familiar with a species it can become available to your culture, sometimes for embark. This though may be conflated memory. Does anybody know if you can add animals to your embark options, and separately to be available via caravan through in game mechanics?

For example, is it possible to catch and tame a Giant Hamster and become familiar enough with them for your culture, or sell enough to the home fortress that they become more universally available for that world?

No, domesticating species isn't implemented yet.
