Scifi where the world is run by an AI, but since everything is evidence based, the world lives a pretty nice life and the "protagonists" are just a bunch of capitalists trying to destroy it.

Societies of truly altruistic beings gravitate toward hierarchal civilizations, since a chain of command is more efficient and there is no fear of exploitation when everyone is more concerned for the good of society than themselves.

Societies of selfish beings gravitate toward egalitarianism, because they are always afraid of another having power over them. They continue to tear each other down until they either destroy themselves or an equilibrium is reached.

All spacefaring societies fall into one of these two categories, who are constantly at war with each other and try to nurture new civilizations to think like them.  We called them "angels and demons".
