Slightly Advanced RTD System
If you’re in doubt about your success, pick an ability and roll, with one die for each point you have in an ability. You take the highest roll.
6-You fully succeed!
4/5-You succeed, but with consequences.
3/1-You failed!
The quick sell. I'm in a writing mood. So I'm whanging together an RTD with no planned plot and no planned end date. We'll simply play until the wheels falls off. Who's game for a pokemon adventure?
Picking the four most interesting sheets. Not the first ones.
Name/Alias: What’s your…?
Description: What do you look like...? Are you..?
Background: But you came from…? (Remember, you can die in this game and who knows what will happen, but it’s also pokemon and intended to be somewhat lighthearted-so it’s best if you go for a teenage or young adult trainer. You can be from anywhere, even places that don’t exist in the game-or even choose to be a resident from this mysterious region we’re going to use.)
Dream: And what you want…? What is it?
Greatest Fear: But there’s something you’re afraid of...
Starting Pokemon: (Provide as many details as you like! It could be the first stage or a non-evolving pokemon so it has room to grow. If you choose to begin play with a more powerful sort, it will be disobedient and you’ll have to earn its respect, rather than the other way around. No legendaries, but any Generation and region is allowed.

I can also roll you a totally random one, or may choose to start without and find one in game.)
Trainer Archetype: https://pokemon.fandom.com/wiki/Trainer_Class (Choose one from this list to specify what you see yourself as!) I’ll provide a choice of special starting bonuses based on what you chose, taking into account your background details.
Abilities (Divide TEN points among the six abilities. Each value must have a minimum of ONE and a maximum of THREE)
SNEAK 1/2/3
CALL 1/2/3
FIGHT 1/2/3
TRICK 1/2/3
RESIST 1/2/3
TINKER 1/2/3
SNEAK around, crawl under others attention, do things nobody sees coming (Ambushing, Hiding and stealing)
CALL for help, for aid, and listen for their response. Getting to trust you by showing trust. If you CALL people, expect them to CALL back! (Asking others for favors, coordinating/helping actions, and seeking those who can help you with problems)
FIGHT someone or something, argue your case, battle forward no matter the cost (Simple enough way to solve something)
TRICK your way past trouble and past people-get into their head and make them think it was all their idea. (Not so simple way to solve something, but a lot more fun)
RESIST injury and fear, intimidation and exhaustion. Say no to someone you love. Plant yourself like a tree by the river and tell them, no, you move. (Push past the pain!)
TINKER with machines and tools or perform an inventive and unexpected actions. Push peoples buttons and get them to react. (What does this button do?)
Gameplay is separated into days, which can be composed of any number of turns-you can adventure each day for as many turns as you like, but when a player chooses to SLEEP, the day will begin to wind down-ending in three turns. Adventuring together may solve some of the issues with that, but plan on unexpected things.
When you’re at the end of your rope, you should find a safe place to sleep. This will recharge your Backpack uses, allow your tired pokemon to refresh, and progress time to allow things to happen. You can specify what time you wish to try and wake up the next day.
All fainted pokemon return to health and your gear and hidden power uses are replenished.
Others players may continue their adventures while you choose to sleep. Turns taken in this manner by the sleeper, are in an alternate realm known as the Dream World. Interesting things can happen…but it’s all only a dream, right?
Your companions on this journey, and (hopefully) your friends, your pokemon will (generally) assist you as ordered. Once a day you can release a pokemons Hidden Power to give you an extra die to roll on a check OR allow you to do something you ordinarily couldn’t do. They retain these abilities for the rest of the day. As long as they remain conscious and healthy, they can continue to help you and even fight for you.
You can obtain any number of pokemon, though you can only have six on your person at any one time. Each of them provide another use of Hidden Power.
Pokemon can evolve and gain power in other ways, such as fighting. These well trained pokemon can have to up three uses of Hidden Power a day.
Pokemon have natures are affect how they act when on their own, and gives them a bonus and penalty when using certain abilities.
Unlike in the normal games, you’re not invulnerable as your standard anime protagonist-you could be harmed, even killed, if you choose to journey unwisely. Your pokemon are also your valuable protectors-if something would actually harm you, they’ll interpose themselves and may FAINT. If all your pokemon are fainted and you would again take harm, you will BLACK OUT…which could have consequences ranging from waking up in the next turn with a bump on your head or in a nearby pokemon center, to waking up inside a Scolipedes belly (which is to say, not waking up at all).
If you Black Out and go to the big Pokemon Center in the sky, you’ll have to create a new character.
Trainers will fight wild pokemon to catch them or simply for practice, and occasionally for self-defense. They will also battle other trainers, for money and game (and occasionally self-defense).
These battles will be clearly marked out before they begin as either Casual or Dangerous. A casual fight cannot harm you in any way, and while your pokemon can be defeated they cannot faint. A dangerous fight, as you can guess, is the other way around-it could even end your journey prematurely!
When battling others, pokemon use your abilities to roll, modified by their natures-they take three back to back checks against the opposition based on a mix of your strategy, their strategy, and a random roll. Whoever wins the most checks wins the match-depending on how it went, your pokemon may have won or been knocked silly, but otherwise unharmed, or perhaps fainted or deducted one of their HP in a serious fight (stronger pokemon will always lose HP before being fainted). A defeated wild pokemon can be caught, but some pokemon are tough may simply refuse to give up-you’ll have to fight another three rounds or try to catch them prematurely.
Pokemon battles are otherwise completely narrative-type matchups, relative strength, and training matter not at all…unless they matter in the story.
Twice every day you can reach into backpack and pull Gear that will give you an extra Die to roll on a check OR allow you to do something you ordinarily couldn’t. You retain these items til the end of the day, unless they were specifically single use, such as a potion or a revive.
You can buy more gear at cost or find it hidden in the world-this gives you an extra use of Gear. It only lasts a day, though! Better make good use of it.
You can do some things without using Gear, such as minor first aid, a small meal, and tossing weak pokeballs.
Pokedollars are universal currency most people accept, though many also deal in mutual favors and help.
Your wallet begins empty, usually. Did you really have any money after your vacation?
Sample Prices
-1 PD: Gain a bonus use of Gear for that day.
-1 PD: Refresh all your fainted pokemon at a for-profit pokemon center or private doctor (Mandatory Free Health care rip)
-2 to 12 PD: Literally buy a pokemon from an orphanage, day care or breeders. Results vary.
-10 PD: Buy a ticket to a cabin on the SS Anne. Can get you to almost any port in the world in luxury and speed.
+1 to 6 PD: Sell your beloved pokemon for cold hard cash.
+3 PD: Perform a nice favor for someone who can pay or beat someone in a pokemon match.
+6 PD: Sell a rare Trinket or Fossil to a collector.
The game starts with a shared event-a plane crash as you were on your way back home from Winter vacation. I’m using a highly advanced algorithm to place you, essentially, in a completely random area of the pokemon world. Like literally, randomly generated
https://theworldofpokemon.com/randomRegionGenerator.html
What happens from there is up to you. We can travel anywhere!
Updates will be done at least once every three days and faster if posting speed is high among all players. If you have not given me an action, I will process the turn without you. If three turns pass in this matter, I will begin asking around for replacements. We'll be picking up sometime next week when the new year wraps up.

Name/Alias: Kyle Lemens (a.k.a. Explorer Kyle or Backpacker Kyle)
Description: About 5'4", with a slim yet athletic build. Looks like he runs a bit. Has messy brown hair and sky blue eyes, and a face that couldn't be picked out of a crowd. He's that average. He even wears generic clothing, jeans and a black t-shirt but the one flair he has is a red vest.
Background: Outside of his humble beginnings as a youth gallivanting about Galar, Kyle's life up until this point hadn't been that remarkable. He loved exploring the region he was born in but yearned to see the world beyond. His longtime friend was his Minncino, Gino whom he had caught when he was just eleven. It's a long story but the gist is his mother decided to teach him how to catch a pokémon after constant pestering. Ipso facto, here he was now a young man with his childhood companion out seeing the wide world.
Dream: New experiences, to explore the world.
Greatest Fear: Ghost types, their creepy and more importantly not alive. It gives him the heebie-jeebies. The supernatural just isn't Kyle's thing.
Starting Pokémon: Gino the Minncino (https://assets.pokemon.com/assets/cms2/img/pokedex/full/572.png) is a Normal type Chinchilla Pokémon. He's well, he isn't what you expect from a cute fuzzy little rodent. He's loud and feisty, will hit you with his tail if you piss him off or don't give him attention. Gino is a bit of a neat-freak, he will sweep the crap out of an area if he has to. But he loves his trainer so long as he doesn't do anything stupid or gets himself killed.

Name/Alias: Allas Selliver (Sky Trainer Selliver!)
Description: A 5'0" boy (he's quite sensitive about his height) with a exuberant smile on his face. His eyes are green with brown hair, and his favored attire is a flightsuit-cross-sweatshirt that he insists is not a bird onesie.
Background: Allas is an excitable boy originally from Galar, whose dream has been to see the whole wide world in person after taking his first flight to (insert random region) to move closer to family. His parents are irritable people, and far from the kindest, so they sent the bother out the door as soon as they were able to, leaving him nothing but his few belongings and a starter from his old home. Despite this, he's thrived on the loosened restrictions of a pokemon journey, and has spent most of his time wandering where he pleases with his Rookidee Fusela.
Dream: To visit everywhere, and see everything worth seeing.
Greatest Fear: To become stuck in place, never able to move on to new things.

Minncino, the Chinchilla Pokemon
This cute, bushy tailed pokemon spends most of its time relentlessly sorting and cleaning its nesting grounds and anywhere else that offends is finely tuned aversion to dust, grime, rubbish and disorder. They greatly enjoy being clean and neat themselves-what time is not spent cleaning their general environment, is spent grooming themselves. They are said to be poor at battling, but great at cleaning up afterwards.
The Minncinos tail is central to its existence-used for cleaning, battling, and greeting others of its species. But it can be somewhat haughty and particularly picky about messes, which frankly can make them more trouble then they are worth. Capable of quick and hard hitting attacks with their tails, they shouldn't be underestimated despite their size.

Rookidee, the Tiny Bird Pokemon
A quick and brave pokemon, Rookidee routinely seek out challenges from other pokemon and trainers. In battle, they use their small speed and disorienting eyes to bewilder and take down even the largest opponents with their powerful beaks.
Despite their small stature, Rookidee are feisty and reckless Pokémon that are always ready for a fight. When not hunting or fighting, Rookidee are inquisitive and enjoy collecting small bits of shiny metal to bring back to their nests, even stealing them. This makes them something of an annoyance to metallophagus and metal collecting pokemon-such as Tinkaton.
Mimikyu, the Disguise Pokemon
A spooky Ghost pokemon, who hides under a creepy disguise. As their true body is deathly vulnerable to sunlight, they greatly prefer to come out at night or in low light conditions. Mimikyu are generally very shy toward humans and prefer to remain alone. It's said looking at their true body is invariably fatal.
Mimikyu are a species of ghost and fairy Pokémon who are adept at fashioning useful disguises to hide their true forms underneath-which are said to be horrible or even deadly to look upon, but the truth may be that Mimikyu tend to attack or frighten anyone who tries, that they do not implicitly trust-Mimikyu are creatures who greatly desire love and attention. Their most common disguise is that of a Pikachu, a popular pokemon to make dolls out of, though other forms are not unheard of.

Greatest Fear: Fire. While it does give warmth, that warmth can oh so easily turn into an inferno unchecked. The day the forest burned around her was one that left a deep scar.

Snom, The Worm Pokemon
Snom is a peaceful ice bug pokemon found in cold regions of the world-while somewhat harmless, it's advised to keep an eye above and below you when traveling in cold forests-a surprising amount of people have been injured by Snom they startled due to the heavy cocoon of spiked ice which they sleep in, which is usually located buried in snow at the base of a tree in the day and hanging in the branches at night, while they sleep. Trainers should be advised that while Snom can live entirely on clean snow, and cannot process solid food, they still enjoy additions to their diet in the form of powdered liquids and blended berries.
A tiny and frigid bug pokemon who dwells in cold regions of the world, hiding like a coward in trees in an icy cocoon. Travelers have claimed the meat of Snom is particularly delicious and has a wide variety of tasty flavors-the pokemons preference for flavor impacts its taste.
A curious pokemon that lives in regions normally inhospitable to both humans and bugs-it's capable of subsisting entirely on liquid snow, which it uses to sheath its body in a tough shell of ice. It shows a clear preference to clean snow and should not be fed anything else-Snom who gain a taste for sweets find it hard to break, and it has unknown effects on their molecular biology we have not fully studied.
Dex Guide
Norre Dex (belongs to Lila) : Useful survival information and specialized useful information for cold and temperate forest pokemon. May have more scant information on pokemon outside these areas.
Kanto Dex (Belongs to Tim): Somewhat dubious, yet wide spread, knowledge on almost all pokemon in the world. Often focused on combat related information, even if not entirely accurate.
Galar Dex (Belongs Seliver and Kyle): Brainy and technical knowledge on pokemon who dwell in Galar and the rest of poke-Europe. Sometimes a bit heartless.
Mmm. Welcome to Norre everyone, mind the Snom!
I'm hoping I can get Snom Ice Scales since that halves special damage. It also has the distinction of being the only bug to evolve through friendship. Like most cocoon bugs, it also doesn't know many moves in it's first form. Powder Snow and Struggle Bug is better than most though.
I am also now wondering what happens if a Snom gets addicted to sweets. Does evolve into a Bug-Fairy type regional? Or something else.
The Kanto Dex is sus though.
As a tutorial on gear. Do we need to buy it to be able to access different gear, or would it be something we just pull out of ether?
