THE DUNGEON MONSTER RTD

Deep in the caves of the old dungeon known only as Everdark, it's denizens thrived oddly in relative peace that is until some pesky intruders killed a good number of the population in it's dimly lit halls. Now there are but few left in the wake of the massacre, most others fled but a few stayed behind unwilling or simply unable to leave their home behind.

Now it's up to you, whoever or whatever you may be to pick up the pieces and either rebuild Everdark or die trying but hopefully somewhere along the way those pesky adventurers will get their comeuppance at your hands or anothers.

So will you, the last of the surviving denizens of your once peaceful home work together, and unite as a team to rebuild what is left of the dungeon? Or will your hunger for power lead you against your fellow denizens?

^{Character Creation}

Everdark was home to all sorts of monsters, from big to small as it's halls stretched long into that of the Depths; the realm of the dark elves, whom long traded with the leader of the dungeon, however during the chaos of your homes ruination many of the dungeons strongest denizens perished leaving very few powerful magic-users and even fewer great warriors among the survivors.

Character Sheet Template

Name: You know, it's that thing people call you.
Alias/Nicknames: It's the thing people call you behind your back, right?
Race: Anything within reason, this is a fantasy RTD not a sci-fi RTD.
Gender: ♂ or ♀, or in the case of some monsters no gender.
Background: A little bit of information on your characters life here in Everdark or wherever else they came from, it needn't be long.
Personality: Describe your characters various likes and dislikes, like background it needn't be long.
Appearance: A brief description of your characters physical appearance and anything interesting about them, be it a gods awful appearance or unearthly beauty.

Skills: Start with one combat skill and one non-combat skill.

• Combat Skill: It can be mundane or magical, within reason of course. (+1 to the associated combat or magical skill.)
  
• Non-Combat Skill: It could range from herbalism to alchemy, or any crafting skill and it could also be a learned skill like taming wild animals. (+1 to the associated skill.)
  

Possessions: Any items, clothing and equipment you carry on your person.

Race: Slime
Gender: ♂ or ♀,
Background: Rats, wolves, skeletons, the Dawn Massacre slayed many monsters from Everdark. Including slimes. However, as one of the weakest races, but also most resistant to physical damage and annoying to fight due to acid, they got off a little better than most. Granted, most of them are brainless. The primary exception are those with cores, though said core is also a major weak point to those that have them. Others can always consume them though. This core helps with evolution, though slimes can do that anyway, just with less control and speed.
Personality: Food!
Appearance: A blue slime with a blue core. Pretty common among generic slimes that have yet to evolve.

Skills:
Combat Skill: Devour
Non-Combat Skill: Jump
Possessions: Core(bound)

Alias/Nicknames: Cheesefingers
Race: Dwarf
Gender: ♂
Background: One of the few dwarven survivors of the thriving kingdom of the Leaden Wheelbarrows. One month after the complete collapse of his burrow he decided to slaughter his last pigs and leave his old home behind.
Personality: Greatly values the Law, Despises socializing and friendship (after watching his best friend being partially eaten by a fire salamander), doesn't really care about anything anymore, hates the sun, adores opals, waterfalls, sandstone and furnaces, loves pigs, loves pig meat and needs alcohol to get through the working day.
Appearance: A double braided blond beard, long hair, slightly chubby posture.

Skills:
Combat Skill: Crossbow
Non-Combat Skill: butchering
Possessions: pig leather armor, masterwork pig leather water flask filled with Dwarven Ale [8], Copper knife, well-crafted bronze crossbow, 50 pig bone arrows, pig meat[16].

Race: Gembug
Gender: ♂, it/its
Background: Hatched from an egg buried in the chest of an unfortunate adventurer. Has since buzzed around and hidden in corridors, waiting for food to appear. Will probably die in a couple seasons, whether it manages to reproduce or not.
Personality: Likes standing perfectly still, showing off its shiny body to female lootbugs, and drinking blood.
Appearance: Appears to be a brilliantly bright ruby. At least, when its legs, wings, and piercing proboscis are tucked away. When active it resembles a particularly shiny mosquito around the size of a fist.

Skills:

Background: Hidden away from the slaughter of Everdark by his mother, Ren seeks to reunite with her, or at least find closure.
Personality: Ren enjoys the art of the hunt far more than the dance of battle, finding death unpleasant at best. Additionally, he attempts to weave (somewhat unsuccessfully) in his free time, in order to maintain the scarf he we given.
Appearance: A small fox-cross-cat with long antenna, his coat short and fluffy despite the environment.
Skills:

• Combat Skill: Illusion.
• Non-Combat Skill: Tailoring.

Possessions: A scarf woven of purple wool his mother gave him.

Alrighty Denizens I'll get to writing up the opening part, I've already donjon'd the first level of the dungeon. The highest reaches of Everdark.

Room 1: This chamber has crates, barrels and all sorts of containers stacked around it in various states of broken or filled with rotting foodstuffs. Some enterprising goblins have taken up here to set up shop selling whatever they can to those stupid or willing enough to pay.

Room 2: The remains of a great statue lie about the floor of this chamber where a monument once stood, to those who could remember it depicted the one who saw the Everdark be built. But it matters little for the statue is broken beyond repair.

Room 3: There is a weapon rack here lined with all sorts of rusty and dull weapons and straw dummies.

Room 4: Light filters in this chamber through a partially collapsed roof, the floor littered with the rubble of the collapsed ceiling. It wa likely a smithy of sorts once due to there being the monstrous remains of a great furnace lying in disrepair, next to the rusting hunk of an anvil.

Room 5: To the eastern wall a pit is dug where a large black cauldron sits gathering dust and cobwebs, the chamber lined with torches. It was once a banquet hall, with a long table surrounded by chairs that lay about either overturned or broken in pieces.

Room 6: It seems like the highest chambers of Everdark have suffered from disrepair and the passing of time, the first room that leads to both the stairs leading out the dungeon and to the level below being filled with broken furniture and overturned sconces.

Room 7: This room once held what seems to be a kind of barracks,  likely once used by the laborers who built Everdark. The broken remains of wooden beds are strewn about beneath rubble from a cave in that happened a long time ago. Now it is populated by straw mats and a firepit, the chamber having become something of a resting place for the surviving monsters of the Everdark.

Room 8: A large hole leads downwards to the floor below or further, the tunnel seems to be carved out haphazardly in turn with the rough stonework of this floor. The room has broken weapons, and bones litter the ground. The hole is home to various insects mainly some plucky spiders, who oddly are at odds with the gembugs though not hostile they do not like to live to close to the gembugs

Room 9: This room is oddly devoid of any and all furnishings, though the stone walls do have the odd mark of dust where something may have hung on them. Maybe art? But the room is empty and quite dusty.

And so the story begins, in the highest of levels of the once great dungeon where the denizens have gathered before a fire, at least those who keep the company of others. Or are wandering about trying to rebuild what they have left. How will they go about rebuilding the Everdark? Only time will tell...

Just arrived from outside, so entering room 6. Granitecups fully expects this place to be filled with horrible things trying to kill you, but at least the cursed sun doesn't shine here.

Search for the deadly traps and enemies that no doubt litter the place.

4: Corey slithers through the dungeon, coming across a group of rats feasting on a pile of moldy bread. Corey's stomach (core?) grumbles at the sight and smell of the bread, but the rats are quick to scurry away at the sight of the slime.

3: Luckily for Urist the first chamber of the so far decrepit looking dungeon is thankfully trap free, however his ears pick up the sound of footsteps coming from one of the halls, hiding behind the rubble in the room. In the darkness with his keen eyes he makes out the shape of a goblin carrying a torch, probably a scout of some kind cause the little feller doesn't seem to be carrying any kind of weapon.

He scratches his ass and looks around, muttering something about finding a decent scrap of food he owed to a Grub and Grog (whoever they are, that remains unknown). The goblin hasn't noticed you yet.

4 (5 Devour):  You devour that bread, it tastes...well stale and moldy but for a creature that lacks most organs that mammals have it doesn’t bother you, its not exactly enough satiate you but its food. However it seems like that was all there is here..The spiders might be more a threat to you than they may be tasty so you decide to follow the sounds of activity coming from the next room over down the corridor. Or you could follow the rats? They might be tasty?

3: Well you successfully unravel a mat and get about halfway through before a cringe inducing rip echoes in the chamber. The mat is destroyed but you managed to get a decent but of thread.
